Quel trio ! Et le final ! Je n'ai jamais vécu d'émotion aussi forte pendant un spectacle qu'à ce moment précis où tous les chanteurs entonnent le chant final et se joignent au trio. Même les Thénardier retrouvent une part d'humanité ... J'ai vu le spectacle de nombreuses fois, prochainement ce sera à Paris, et c'est toujours avec la même émotion.

My area of the US has a dialect accent thatvhas a nasal tone. Due to this, French just flows for me when sung. I really should try and learn the language. It is so beautiful when sung!

Please, provide the actual English translation of the French lyrics instead of just giving the English lyrics. The French lyrics is unique in its own way already.

It's a bit unfortunate that the substitle doesn't actually match the French text but the official English lyrics - it's a bit distracting that way, since for obvious reasons, the English lyrics were written to convey the overall meaning of the song, but not directly match the French lyrics. Il est un peu dommage que le sous-titre ne corresponde pas au texte français mais aux paroles anglaises officielles - c'est un peu distrayant de cette façon, puisque pour des raisons évidentes, les paroles anglaises ont été écrites pour transmettre le sens général de la chanson, mais pas pour correspondre directement aux paroles françaises.

The English subtitle is totally wrong...

OK, I'm English so I have to be honest and say that being English I have never learned to speak French like the majority of the people I went to school with! Of course, I don't understand the lyrics as I hear them but being someone who attends opers I was interested in how this would sound in French. As far as I understand the song "Bring Him Home" was not on the original French concept album and was composed for the Irish actor/singer Colm Wilkinson who originated the role of Jean Valjean in the London West End musical. This is as good as any English performance by any singer, it is truthfully excellent and because of what the musical is about I feel that having it in the French language adds a little more authenticity to the piece. I have now purchased the original French concept album and look forward to listening to it. As an aside my surname Chilvers is derived from the Anglo-Norman-French name "Chivere" or "Chevre" which apparently means "Goat"! So there may just be a little French DNA in me.

The Valjean is fantastic as is Cosette, the others are a little disappointing.

Most excellent Fantine! Please make a French musical film version. Sure makes me proud of my French background. I’m many layered but French background won out for my last name. The last in my family to speak French as a first language were my gg grandparents. I do have a relationship with French. Not fluent but can grasp much of it. Took it in school alongside Spanish.

As ever, so powerful in its original voice with this most excellent Fantine. There needs to be a French language film version now that we have the English. Makes me proud of my French, French Canadian, Acadian & Metis roots. This is set in the 1830’s. I often wonder what my families still in France ( some were here but some stayed behind.) lives were like at this time.

Gosh it’s fun to find this. Glad to see they did an original French production. This cast is good. It would be fun to see a French film version as we have the English version it’s so much better in its original tongue…makes me proud of my French , Québécois, Acadian and Metis roots…..I do have a working relationship with French. Though the last in my family to speak it as a first language were my gg grandparents.
