Pink Floyd Hey You February 8 1980 David Gilmour Sings Last Verse
Просмотров 5107 месяцев назад
From the second night of The Wall concerts at Los Angeles Sports Arena, Roger Waters had voice issues from the first night so David Gilmour had to sing most of "Hey You" including the final verse (hence why he doesn't hit the high notes Roger hits) but Roger sings the "But It Was Only Fantasy" verse. After these shows, Roger would record "The Trial" vocals in the studio and mime for the rest of...

Nick Mason and Rick Fenn featuring David Gilmour A Lie For a Lie
Regardless of the relationship between David and Roger, all publicity is good. Gilmour on tour only means good things for the Floyd catalog
Probably the most played Pink Floyd album in my Playlist. Or close to Animals.
i was in spain when this episode aired. i was active duty and all we had at that time was tape and snl was not in the package. dave's playing always so awesome but i have to say the horns suck but since it's a house band they have to be stuck in. would be nice to have the masters and wipe that crap
Delightful video, thank you! 🍾❤️ ps. Some people collect stamps! 😂
David’s base playing on Sheep is incredible
Animals is my second favorite Floyd album.
ROGER WATTERS.... CHARADE YOU ARE !
Genius in sound, lyric, atmospherics & construct. Best PF album for me
I love the little "See Emily Play" riff at the end of SOYCD....great nod.
I graduated high school in 1975. Wish You Were Here came out. Blow By Blow by Jeff Beck Physical Graffiti Toys in the Attic Welcome to My Nightmare Young Americans etc. What a year for music 🎶 What a year to graduate 🎓!
By far my favorite Pink Floyd record in one of my favorite records of all time
This house band needs to get guest musicians to do more rock, blues, soul romps more often, like Bruce Springsteen. They could've done his "Tenth Avenue Freeze Out" or "Kitty's Back."
Oh, my Gilmour! I was 17.
The First Album I ever Bought, 1975. What's the story withe the Violinist?
Thay must remember that thoughs 50.000 payed the bills!!!!!
Living at home my brother had a quad system it sounded really nice... but back then we did not listen to cool music then :(
And ultimately it was their final tour.
I know
That was really interesting, many thanks.👍
Animals, Astounding Sounds, Amazing Music
Right on. Thanks for sharing.
I like Ninja Turtles.
It’s my favorite Pink Floyd album.
EVERYTHING HE DOES IS PERFECT!!!
That's because HE'S perfect!! 😊❤
What a great interview! thanks!
Great album, totlally underated,,brought melody back to Pink Floyd.....
Roger is such an egotistical/narcissistic jerk…. I guarantee all the greediness he accuses Trump of is all his own
"Music, what a noble art What an utterly sad profession" George Bernard Shaw
Animals is my favorite album by pink floyd . Powerful lyrics amazing music
Lead guitar sound in this album was amazing
Got this album when it first was out in 1977. It was and still is my favorite Pink Floyd album. I listen to it all the time yet. Intense lyrics with such killer music. Love it!
Gilmour is the reason Pink Floyd went on to be one of the greatest bands in the world. Without David Floyd would have drifted off into obscurity.
It took all four
The very last phrase at the end is RICK doing a verse line from See Emily Play. Almost inaudible
Love that song - I’m a huge new wave fan and so many new wavers themselves loved the experimental psychedelic music of the late 60s. It’s also a Syd song so it always breaks my heart to hear it.
Increíble escuchar a gilmour cantar la última parte
I can’t believe that one of the Wall concerts was never filmed. If there is one, please remaster the soundtrack and clean up the film. Millions of Floyd fans would love to finally see this in its proper glory.
Waters said he has the whole film but he still hasn't released it. Help with the hashtag #ReleaseTheWall1980LiveFilm
@TerrencesClassicRockCorner24 we have to convince him
@@JohnCane147He won’t release it
@@JohnCane147 what is he waiting for? what a idiot
Wow! That was really something!
Very rare and David had to step in.
1. Animals 2.Wish you were here 3. Echoes 4. Dark Side 5. The Wall
I’m a huge Pink Floyd fan, Dark Side was spinning at most parties then (a very cool time) but haven’t heard that one. I’ll get it on vinyl. You’re coming through in waves.!
David said it here. The album was intended from the start to be a Pink Floyd album, but the idea was entertained that if things didn't go as planned, it would just be another solo album for him. Of course, the guy who chose to leave and sue the band, twisted things around, and stirred the pot on their fans. But, Momentary Lapse was intended as a Floyd album (a great one too) from the start. Yes, I know Rick was barely on it, as was Nick (who still contributed sound effects to songs, even ones he didn't play drums on).
People buy the crap the late Timothy White spewed hook, line and sinker who was a Roger cheerleader.
Pink Floyd will always be the greatest most original band of all time 💯💯💯
Alan Parsons. From the Alan Parsons project?
Yes
TDS is everywhere, even Pink Floyd documentaries.
--- I saw this once on TV when it came out and never forgot it --- 20FEB24
I learned within the last year that David Gilmour did not sing have a cigar
This is the strangest thing that only Pink Floyd fans understand… Dark Side of the Moon is the greatest album ever made but it’s not Pink Floyd’s best album… that would be Wish you were Here
As I think for the majority of Floyd fans Animals as you get older, Animals is Floyd's GREATEST ALBUM..!! Eclipsing DSOTM, WYWH and The Wall due to the fact that it's each individual band members best parts/ and works, all playing Masterpiece solo parts from Gilmour's lead guitar and Roger's and Dave' bass parts, Rick's amazing keyboard riffs and Nick's driving drum signatures + Even though Roger wrote the lyrics/album in 1977, Well it's just as relevant now as it was then..!! Mist probably more so due to Capitalist World's GREED in 2024..!! "It's All About The Money and Proxy Wars being fought across The Planet (ie) Arms Contracts and Oil Grabs..!! 💰💰💰
Richard Wright disagreed and didn’t like the album.
@@terrencereardon6374 It's all about opinions..!! But I think (just my opinion) that the discord that Roger had started basically becoming 'A Control Freak' and Rick being the brunt and with David Gilmour being his best mate I think maybe it's not easy to give your own appreciation of your own work..!! Specially when the WAR had really kicked in , in the band..!! Really Really Sad as I adore Roger but he even admitted himself back before him, David and Polly have put themselves as immovable objects..!! Rock and a Hard Place..!!
Amazing album & without Roger makes it even better where they can create what they wanted and damn is it an incredible album 🤘🎸🤘it took all 4 or 5 counting Syd to make the music they gave us and all their talents together to give us Pink Floyd and if you believe Roger is Pink Floyd then you are blind. David can write the BEST solos and guitar parts , Mason drums are incredible and Roger Wright.. the best damn Keyboardist ever! Roger writes good lyrics but not all are great. The point is like Led Zeppelin.. it took those 4 incredible musicians together to give us what we got! Once Roger left we got a newer/better version of Pink Floyd IMO 🤘🎸🤘
I concur.
Live pigs three different ones from 1977 is so much more epic than the studio version! Its the grand finale of the set!
I concur. It ended the first set and the fact that Rick got to play a synthesizer solo where the voice box solo was.
"Premature departure from reality" is a brilliant way to put that
This video is absolutely genius. Thank you so much for creating and sharing this. This album brings tears to my eyes, and I am so moved that Roger Waters was in tears when he used to play this song. I suppose that is why it is so powerful - because the music and the lyrics are authentic. Waters: Just be honest and say what you feel.
