I'm a professionally amateur gamer who enjoys a large variety of genres but has come to love and invest most of my gaming time in the online world of virtual hunting. Living in the big city and not getting many chances to escape to the serenity, beauty, joy, and restorative effects of the great outdoors, I find wandering through digitally fabricated nature as a way to appease myself between visits. Someday I plan to escape the prison of the congested concrete jungle, but until then, let's explore what these handcrafted worlds have to offer. And as you'll see with my videos, I just keep things real. Good shots, bad shots, and everything in between, you'll find I don't sugar-coat anything. May you enjoy your time here and maybe we'll bump into each other on our journeys.
Happy Hunting Everyone!
PS. I play other games too as you'll see from time to time...

Merry Christmas or "Bear"y "Moose"mas (URH)
MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone! What better way to celebrate than to do a hunt in the snow! And I thought I'd do an extra-long hunt this time for the festive occasion. My plans this time were to find some reindeer to harvest. I mean it's only fitting. Well, that turns out to be a bit more difficult than I was expecting. But it didn't stop me from getting several animals and even testing out my tracking skills in an extreme way! What a fun hunt if not challenging too. Hopefully you will stick with me through it, but if not, then check out the last 10 minutes or so to find out how badly I messed up on locating my prize. You'll shake your head in disbelief. I sure did. It's ridiculous....

Pointer Dog Settings For Realistic Hunts
Просмотров 779 часов назад
After my first experience trying to use the new pointer dog and the difficulty I had in my realistic hunting preference, I decided to do a bit of experimentation. As such, I found out how I can prep my dog for my hunts so he is still useful, and I share that with you now.
Searching For Caribou, But Getting Distracted (An Unedited Realistic Hunt)

Getting a bit more into the winter vibe, I head back to Alaska, but this time in Call of the Wild with the intentions of watching snow fall while downing some caribou. Both of which occurred but mixed with several other prizes.
Last Extinction

It's a sad day, as this is most likely the last time I'll get to play Second Extinction. As such, I wanted to take full advantage of it, and hence I spent a lot longer here that I normally would. This is effectively a double length episode as I tackle not one, but two missions, and one of those missions I ended up doing three times (if that gives you any clues). So come with me as I get assault...
Unedited Realistic Aurora Shores Hunt

Winter is upon us and what better way to get in the mood then to go to Alaska and put in a hunt. Here I try to take my same method I've been using on Call of the Wild and do an unedited realistic hunting session. I didn't think about turning off all the HUD options, but I don't use my hunter sense, spot animals, or lay marks on the landscape. I also, only went for Adventurer difficulty instead ...

Hunting The Himal With ChesterSylvester
Just want to say that mental health is linked to physical health, so make sure you’re out there getting exercise and eating right my brother. As for mental exercise, video games are good but other games like chess have been shown to prevent or reduce Alzheimer’s as well (not saying that’s what it is in your case.) As for the personal sociopolitical stuff, you are actually in the majority, both in the US and worldwide, the massive, enormous majority, who stick to their faith or traditional values and have no time for the alphabet soup nonsense. So there’s no need to be apologetic.
I prefer the ambusher that way animals come to me instead of me walking for miles all over the map
I was waiting for a random giga or something jaha
Oh boy! Wouldn't that have been an intense way to first enter the Ark!!!
@@3Messenger7 ahaha yes it would🤣
Personally, I like this map quite a bit! Looks like you had pretty good luck, so I think you are too 🙂 Knowing the settings you like to play with, I can see how the pointer would be a challenge to direct if you're not spotting anything. I suppose teaching Rascal how to point might be more helpful for your style? (No offense Tucker!) Plus, it'll make it easier to tell who's dog is who when I hunt with you next time, 'cause I'm definitely getting a pointer! Haha Another idea might be to customize some of your skills toward your newer hunting style? (I think I know a guy who made some awesome videos on that...) If you didn't use "Track Knowledge", "Spotting Knowledge" or "Sight Spotting", when you do spot an animal to direct the dog to, it might not be quite as revealing to you when you do spot them? Just a thought. Either way, mighty fine work here buddy! As far as suggestions for what goes next; more multiplayer hunts with yours truly hands down 😁 BUT, as a fan of the series, maybe a follow up to a previous realistic hunt might not be so bad. As a creator though, I STRONGLY encourage you to pursue the topic that inspires you most. Cheers my friend!!
I agree. I've enjoyed this map much more than I thought I would. And I had a LOT of luck. Not only with getting the animals, but also with claiming them since as you see, it's hard without Rascal. But I have learned some things about the pointer and my hunting style that I do intend to mention in a future video. It makes the pointer a bit more useful, just requires a bit of pre-planning first. So don't count Tucker completely out yet, although, I get the feeling my other dogs with still have more use. But time will tell. I look forward to seeing your pooch and what you name it when you get one. Exciting! I have thought about adjusting my skill points some, but truthfully, since I don't always use my settings to hunt and do turn on things as needed (like when I'm doing missions), I don't think I can completely get rid of some of the ones I use. But you and I are on the same page because it's been on my mind as well. (I'm curious who that guy is you're mentioning though. Hmm... I'll have to look him up. 😉) I'm looking forward to more hunting sessions together also (and as you can see in the comment from @BlackSheeP.t , he would like it too). So, we definitely need to make it happen. But you don't have to worry about the unedited realistic sessions going away. I'm sticking with that style of hunt for some time, while incorporating in other hunting games as well. So those previous maps will be coming back, including my thoughts on doing some at night. Eek!😱 What am I doing to myself??? Anyway, as usual, thanks again CS. I always appreciate your feedback, support, comments and time. Have a good one bud!
@3Messenger7 It didn't really click until I saw this video, the flaws for the pointer and this style of hunting. It is funny though, because I know you and I have had conversations about how it would be useful to have a dog that does the pointer's job. We will figure it out. Until then, I've got some dog training to do! Yes, definitely looking forward to our next hunt together too. Can't wait!!
Dude, being someone who has born in late 70's , sometimes I have memory issues...so yeah, its an age thing 😁 . The second part of the video, well...I'm from the other side of the pond ( and also a Christian) and being european, I share your thoughts about "the alphabet" thing ; but you dont have to justify anything...just be proud to have morals and values and pass them to your kids, thats all. ✌️
Thanks for the feedback. I've actually always had a pretty great memory for even the smallest and obscure of things. It's just concerning knowing how good it was in the past and to see while I'm in the moment, that I'm actively aware of forgetting the thing in trying to bring up. It's crazy. It's almost like I'm outside myself watching me struggle. I honestly hope it's just sporadic but thankfully I haven't had any real issues lately. And as for the other part, I expressed it mainly for myself and the channel to avoid future odd moments like it. Not trying to justify, but more trying to prevent further complications. Plus, it helps people better understand who I am and how I feel. There's always two sides to an issue and I think a lot of the world is focusing on the one and ignoring or condemning the other. Which is ironic because that's what they're fighting against for themselves. It's like the tables turned and the actions are now justified to return the hate and discrimination they previously felt. I'm not saying everyone feels that way, but more and more people do and they're extremely vocal about it. But thanks friend. I truly appreciate your thoughts and support. God bless.
thanks a lot, this video helps me to pick skills that I need or not really necessary to hunt. Nice work
You're welcome and thank you. I'm glad it helps you out. It's my hope that it'll make things easier for others to figure out what works best for them. If you're interested, I've also done the same thing for the Perks you can check out. Good luck and happy hunting.
Your videos with Chester are really cool , make some more... Also,if you want to take full advantage of the pointer, you have to enable HUD.
Thanks. Chester and I have been a bit busy lately but we do have plans to get together again. Probably in Way of the Hunter next if we can. But eventually. As for the pointer, I appreciate the feedback. The problems I'm having with the pointer are issues I thought I'd face when they announced how the dog would work and the need to use the HUD and spotting animals. Things I don't generally do with these realistic hunts. I'll get him leveled up eventually, but my use of him might be limited when I play this way. Thanks again. Much appreciated with the comments and support. Happy hunting.
@3Messenger7 Way of the Hunter...yes please! Looking forward for them. I have my Hud on just to level the dog,my hunting style is just like yours. I hope your channel gets more views and subs! ✌️
@@BlackSheeP.t I won't deny it'll be nice if it does, but I've mainly been doing this just because I've had fun doing it. It's always amazing to hear the positive feedback from you and others who enjoy it as well. I'll probably turn on the HUD to help with the pointer also. I might need to turn on tracks to during the process because it's hard to find downed animals without some sort of aid. I guess if I was a bit more patient, got closer, and did drop shots it wouldn't matter as much. Tough call though.
@@BlackSheeP.t This guy knows what he's talking about @3Messenger7
Yeaahhh buddy! Great hunt. Save a few for the rest of us why don't ya!? That little corridor on the eastern side of the map can funnel them back and forth at certain times of day, and I'd say you hit it just right. The open sights on the 303 did you some great justice here too! A couple of real nice ones in there. That Blacktail buck was a surprise (I initially thought he was a little fella too)! And of course I was super stoked when I saw the rack on your grand finale. Perhaps I'm biased, but this is one of my favorite realistic hunts you've done 🙂 Bravo my friend, and I am honored for the shout out, truly. You did a great job on what is certainly one of my favorite reserves in the game. Rascal looked happy to be spoiled with the treats, even if it did make him a little stubborn for ya Haha Cheers my friend, and congrats on coming to a close on your endeavor! One last note: 54:58. I don't know if it threw off the trajectory of the bullet or what... you may have missed that bear, but you DEFINITELY annihilated one of the "fake" birds with that shot. Tried and tested; you can do target practice on those in the sky.
Sorry for the delay in responding, it's been busy for me here. And I can't say much about leaving animals for ya. You snooze you lose. Hehe, maybe join me next time. But I figured you'd really enjoy this hunt. Not surprising it's one of your favorites of my videos as it covered a lot of your favorites (the map, iron sights, blacktail, etc). I love that corridor! I've bagged many animals on that side of the reserve. I'm also super happy with the trophies you mentioned. Nice surprises for sure. You're welcome about the shout outs too. They just seemed fitting for everything about this hunt. Rascal was happy to get some treats finally, but I think he still showed a little stubbornness for not getting them often. Grumpy dog. And good catch on noticing that bird hit. Usually I catch things like that myself, if not in the heat of the moment, usually in editing, but this time I completely missed it (and the bear apparently). Maybe we should have a focused hunt on them sometime. Hehe. 😁 Thanks for everything CS. Happy hunting bud.
@@3Messenger7 Well, the recipe was right my ally, it's true. A good time regardless! Yeah, I had a good laugh at the bird. I've never had one get in the way of a shot like that before, so I just had to say something. Good work out there my friend!!
@@ChesterSylvester Thanks. I've had a few birds do that to me before. I distinctly remember shooting at a moose when that happened once. I'm not 100% sure, but I think I put it into one of my shorts. If not, it's in an old video if you really care to search through them for that tidbit. 😉
Great video! I found it incredibly relaxing and a fun watch. Hope to see more in the future!
Thank you. It's encouraging and humbling to hear others enjoy these videos like you do. I appreciate your comment and support. And as long as I can and I'm motivated, I'll continue to do these videos. So look forward to more. Thanks again and best wishes to you.
Happy Turkey Day my friend!! You had me at New England anyway, but that was a fun regardless! I hope you like bear steaks, 'cause there would have been plenty of those at the table that day. You managed to put enough turkey on the table to cover several families as well though, so no worries 😉 Thank for the shoutout and glad to see the good ol' grand finale in there. I hope Rascal scored a couple of Turkey legs as well 🍗
Happy "Elusive" Turkey Day as well CS! New England just seems to fit the best for this time of year and for the hunt. I enjoy it so much and glad you feel the same. But yeah...bear steaks. I'm not sure how they taste, but I've got a stockpile of them now. But really happy that I was able to claim some turkeys as well. People need to be fed after all. And you're welcome. Always a pleasure. Rascal is enjoying his own feast and thanks you. Take care bud.
Oh man, great hunt. Parque can be a tough one, but man, you had some great shots in there! You certainly made up for the lack of water buffalo we had in our hunt together here, so I'm glad you could fill the void 🙂 Very nice my friend!
Thanks! It was a pretty successful hunt. And I like the added challenge with the crossbow. But boy does it work well on the buffalo. I'll be returning for more eventually.
@@3Messenger7 😁 Can't wait!
Hey, that's a great take on the hunt. Good job putting that together! I had a blast on this one (and admittedly my good luck was a big contributor too), but I do like that map quite a bit. That sheep really did have a hop by the lake too! Haha Thanks again to Rascal and yourself for the invitation 😁 Can't wait for the next one!!
Thanks. It was actually pretty fun to edit. Glad it turned out ok. I had fun and enjoyed the hunt with you, even if I struggled with my shots (side note for you if you haven't seen it yet, check out my Layton hunt. There's a bit of redemption in it and comments for you). I agree though, it is a pretty good map even if there aren't any evergreens on it. Hehe. 😁 Those sheep are funny. I've seen them hop on other reserves also. Makes me laugh. Rascal gives his thanks but is wondering if he'll get a travel buddy too. 😉 Looking forward to our next one as well. Take care CS.
@@3Messenger7 Oh nice! I'm watching your realistic Parque hunt right now, but Layton's high on the list. You know, Rascal may get his wish. That new pointer looks VERY enticing. It would complement Rascal's skills as well if they teamed up with us 😁
@@ChesterSylvester nice. No worries. Rascal may be getting a rest for a bit when the pointer shows up because I'm going to want to get one also. But the tag team would be good.
@@3Messenger7 Hey, I can't say I blame you! We will have to coordinate though... same outfit... same color dog... twinsies
@@ChesterSylvester hehe, yeah. We'll need to work on that. They do need more character customizations though.
Man, I love this map for bow hunting...and thanks to your advice, now I dont have unwanted things popping on my screen.
I'm not sure why it's not showing up in the comments, but I did respond to yours. But in case you didn't get it, I just agreed that Hirschfelden is a fun map that gets a bad rap. I like hunting here. And I'm glad you get to hunt without distractions. Enjoy your time in the woods and good luck. 😀
@@3Messenger7 Thanks, mate! Hirsch is one of my fav reserves , most people dont like it because they play cotw like they play sniper elite or camp drink zones, this reserve doesn't favor this type of gameplay.
@@BlackSheeP.t I agree. Is not supposed to be a run and gun FPS. And while I understand the importance of drink zones, even IRL, and camping, that's what tree stand hunting is, it's unrealistic to jump from one spot to another with your teleporter to mass slaughter animals for trophies. IRL animals don't have watches or coordinate with each other across the miles to make sure they're all drinking and eating at the same time for the sake of the hunters trying to kill them. My thoughts are that each animal or herd should have it's/their own schedules. I honestly like Classic more for that reason where the hunting is more random.
@@3Messenger7 I agree, and also add that GO introduction in game, led to exploits and hacks ( imagine that in a hunting game, lol ) that turned this in a grind fest, but hey...people play the game the way they want.
@@BlackSheeP.t yep
I like to watch this type of cotw videos , I also dont grind...I like the realistic approach , its much more rewarding. How do you make that " press E to spot " message not showing when playing?its annoying... Good video, mate.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thank you. I truly appreciate it. And I agree, this type of hunt is much more rewarding. Glad to know others like to do the same. I wish you the best on your hunts. As for the E, it's under Settings on the Interface menu for the HUD. Turn off the Interaction Hints and you'll be good to go.
@@3Messenger7 Thx mate , now I have a clean screen , dont know how I missed that setting!
@@BlackSheeP.t glad I could help. It's actually a newer feature. It wasn't there a few months ago. But enjoy your distraction-free real hunts. 😁
Hey, that was fun to see! I spent a lot of time poring over the footage from my end, so its a fun treat to compare 😂 You had some great shots in there! A few times when we were looking for the Axis you'd describe what you were seeing, in the mean time I'm looking at the hill 90 degrees away going "man, I can't find 'em" lol It was a challenge, but now that I know what to expect, I think a similar themed hunt in the future would be sweet. So glad to see the grand finale too. Got a couple nice trophies there! Congrats! And thanks for hunting with me 😁
I agree. Seeing both viewpoints adds so much more to the experience. I noticed how we were looking in different areas after watching your video. I guess more time hunting together will improve our communication on pinpointing where the animals are located. I look forward to our next outing also. Fun times indeed. And it's mutual. You're welcome and thanks for hunting with me as well. Take care bud!
@3Messenger7 You got it 😁 Can't wait!!

It must have been something. I thought I was aiming good, but who knows.
Ой
It happens. Hehe.
You kept shooting between the legs lol
In the heat of the moment it didn't seem like it. But, I guess I did a bit...but not every shot.
Ai traffic getting too realistic 😂
Seriously! No kidding! It seems like I deal with that kind of craziness around me daily.
Damn, should've watched this before respec... 35k gone.
I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully it can still help for future planning. Best of luck to you.
Aw man, I love this map. Those wolves were fairly shy, but the bison were just begging to get shot at. That female Red Fox is actually a pretty big one for a female btw! Not a whole lot of work for Rascal, but hey, that means there were some good shots in there!
Yukon is a great reserve. I have a lot of fun here. Yes, it's a shame about the wolves, but I honestly probably wasn't prepared for them. I might have ended up seeing red. I love going after the bison. Something about their size and look that just draws me in. I didn't notice about the female fox. Good catch. Thanks as usual for watching and the support. Glad this was one of my better hunts. They don't all turn out this way.
@@3Messenger7 Haha Yeah, I heard a little tension there once you realized you might be in a little trouble with the wolves. Hunts on this map almost always start out a little slow for me, but once it kicks off I love it! I could cruise around all day looking for Bison and Caribou.
@@ChesterSylvester absolutely. Same here.
One perhaps
Hehe. That's a guarantee.
Hey, that was a good time! Had a great start to the adventure (Glad you survived it buddy!!), and a good representation of the map. I was surprised some of the Mouflon didn't score higher tbh, but seeing the horns without spotting the animal makes them seem bigger, I think. I certainly would have been happy with them irl though! That was a nice gold hare, and glad you finally got that Ibex at the end. Great work out there!
It was a surprisingly fun hunt. That start did give pause for concern, but it worked out ok. Admittedly, there are three other species of ibex on the reserve and I like them all, but due to the nature of the hunting style, video, and time I couldn't get to the others, so I agree this was a good representation with what I was able to do. Thanks. And yes, those mouflon are tricky buggers, being smaller than they should have been. 😉 I think they need to work out more to get bigger. She in also glad to tie the bow on that last ibex. I hate leaving wounded animals out there. But hate endless, pointless, and unfulfilled tracking more. So it worked out in the end which is nice.
You don't need two different crossbows or bows. You just open the weapon wheel, hover over the crossbow and press Q till you select the bolt you need.
I know, but when I do these realistic hunts I don't want any menus or pop up UI on the screen to ruin the immersion, so to avoid that I take two weapons with the different ammo configurations to simulate me changing the ammo out. It's a personal thing. But thanks for the feedback.
Yikes!! 😬 Good shot though!
Oh yeah. I like the aggression in WotH because it makes it more exciting. And thanks about the shot. He needed to slow down.
@@3Messenger7 Ha Mission successful I'd say!

Super stoked for ya. Keep up the mighty fine work my friend!
SRP is definitely one of my favorite reserves. And this was a crazy hunt that was rewarding. I'm glad you got to see those cats I claimed and understand better why I was excited for your find. My second one was by far the best find though. Worth the tracking and wait. Thanks again CS. Here's to more for both of us.

It's Generation Zero. You're fighting the machine uprising.
Hey, that's a fun little jaunt through the woods! That was some pretty thick cover, but it seemed to work out for you regardless. I'm sorry the Whitlock didn't work out quite the way you wanted it to, but I've always found it to be more effective up to class 4, and a bit underpowered for anything higher (I blame to low penetration myself). But it still brought down some red deer, and was a beast on the feral pigs at the end! Apparently, you've gotta watch out for those unhuntable beavers (...I thought this was a hunting game?), as they'll take out your portable structures! Of course, I think we'll both agree the light browns in the end were a few favorites as well (Holla!). Cheers!

It's theHunter: Call of the Wild
Aww dude
No kidding, right! 😕
Ooooh man, he's back at it again! Well, that second Muley I was a big fan of, for sure 53:22 . Nice, slow steady stalk into a well placed shot is 👌 A bunch of good ones in there too though, so this one was a fun one for me, and a little pang of excitement around every bend. The racks on them (even the smaller ones) are just so much cooler to me than the Whitetails (...and that's saying a lot coming from an irl whitetail hunter). Good to have you roaming the reserves once again. Big pets for Rascal as well!
Thanks. It's good to be back! I agree, that muley really stood out. I honestly never checked to see how close it was to a diamond. I was just glad to down him. That slow stalk is what I thought you'd enjoy. Taking my time to get into position and not rushing the shot. That was thrilling! It's kind of funny how long it took to get the two in the main part of the video. About the same time gap for each. Those others at the end just lined up nicely for me though. Glad you got a bit of excitement from it. And I agree, white tail are nice, but these boys have some sweet headgear. Next roaming session looks to be in thick foliage. That'll be interesting. And Rascal appreciates the pets. He's such a good boy! Thanks again CS. I greatly appreciate you time, support, and comments.

New to the game but I love it and I’m glad you and your dad were able to play. My dad left when I was young but I play with friends and I’m sure it’s even better memories with your father.
The game is really great and I enjoy coming to it as one of my hunting choices. It'll always have a special place in my heart because of the time me and my dad spent playing to together. I will cherish those memories always. Enjoy your sessions, especially those with your friends. You'll come back to them later in life I'm sure. Happy hunting.
Hey, what a great snapshot to have, given all the memories recorded and otherwise. He was rockin' that game HARD. Good for him! Kudos to him for some of his preferences in what he liked to hunt as well; they're some of my favorite in my hunting games as well as IRL. I watched a few of your hunts with him on your channel too, and remember thinking how special those videos are to have. You may not have preserved all of them throughout the years, but just HAVING those moments is something you'll cherish always, and wish I had something similar with dad as well. The fact that you were able to access the account is pretty cool too. Thanks for sharing!!
Yeah, he had a lot of time to devote to it after he retired. There were a few other things that kept him busy in life also, but I know this really scratched his hunting itch especially since he couldn't get out to do it anymore IRL. But I agree, there's so much there to dig into and I'm glad I could access his account as well. It was actually one of my priority of things I wanted to look into while I was out there and I'm glad it worked out. I'm looking forward to doing some comparisons and more. Glad you appreciate his choices. I'm sure living on the East Coast has a lot to do with those preferences for you both. Unfortunately I don't have many videos of us actually spending time together on here, but I'm glad you checked out some of what I do have. There's a lot more videos of me explaining previous hunts and I'm already thinking of doing some more eventually, but I'm glad to have what I do and the memories. Sorry you didn't have something like that with your dad. Hopefully you have other things though. Thanks again CS. Always appreciated.

Hi and thanks. I appreciate your comment and support. It's never been about getting subs for me, it's about having fun and enjoying the moment. And apparently life throws weird things at me. Glad you like the videos. But to answer your question, I play on a PC.
hey, you can power through the it, you have the power, you are strong, powerful and awesome, keep it up, bud <3
Thank you for the encouragement. I really appreciate it.
Oh man! Quite the run you've had there, but glad you're settling back in. Each of those events are overwhelming enough as it is; stacking them together is just enough stress to last a year. They say bad things come in 3s, so I think you've met your quota! Take all the time you need my friend. We're not going anywhere and look forward to seeing your next virtual adventure when you are ready to share it with us.
Yeah, I couldn't believe what I was going through while I was in it. It was overwhelming. But not that I'm on the other side I can look back at it with a different lens. I truly hope there's nothing more coming on the horizon for a long time. But as for the future of the channel, I'm just taking some relaxing moments for myself and doing some play sessions before I get back into video making, but I do have some initial ideas of what I'd like to do. Maybe in a week or two I think. Thanks again CS, always appreciate your support.
@@3Messenger7 Sure thing! You've gotta take care if yourself and your family first as always. Let the dust settle for a bit, and we will be here for you.
I have ZERO idea who you are. I just got onto RUclips to drink a beer and chill and I got recommended this. I know it's been a few weeks since but I hope you're doing alright. I can tell by your voice that you deeply love your Dad and I'm so sorry. If you want someone to chat with just hit me up
Thank you very much. Yes it's been a few weeks now and I'm doing better. I think it'll hit here and there periodically down the road. But I appreciate your reaching out and offering to talk. Thank you. Best wishes to you and God bless.
I'm sorry man, much love to you gng. 💜
