Hiking the Griffith Uplands Trail
Situated along the Madawaska River in Griffith Ontario, this trail is a good work out for those in average to better than average physical condition.
Address: 858 Hyland Creek Rd, Greater Madawaska, ON K0J 2R0
No washroom facilities on site or along the trail.
Very good hiking shoes are highly recommended,

The John Muir Way Leg 10 - North Berwick to Dunbar

Our final leg of this absolutely amazing journey!! Today’s walk from North Berwick began after a lovely breakfast at the Nether Abbey Hotel. We rejoined the JMW route and walked along side 2 beautiful old course and then through the lovely old town of North Berwick. We then climbed the Berwick Law. This took us up approximately 185m to an amazing view of the North Sea. The remainder of our walk...

Today’s walk was predominantly under an overcast sky with a lot of time along the shoreline. Our first order of business was to find the Geocache across from our B&B. It was a quick find. Leg 8 did not kick off as we had hoped…… Packed and ready for breakfast, we approached our Guest House ‘host’ and asked where we should leave our backpacks for the transfer pick-up when we check out. His reply was not as expected…. We were not welcome to leave them, oh, and he expected us to pay the tour company’s bill for our stay!! This triggered a very stressful series of calls and emails……....

Outstanding! This is, hands down, one of the best Videos of Edinburgh I have ever seen! You showed so many places here that I had never seen before in any other Videos! It was amazing! I just love Edinburgh so much! It is so rustic & charming! As well as being truly unique, fascinating, & intriguing! It has so much fascinating history & captivating ambience. Whether it is the Magnificent Castle, quaint buildings, unique Shops & Restaurants, interesting Museums, & so much more. Your Video perfectly showcased so much & more of these in this magical City! Your filming & footage was excellent! As well as, your Commentary was so interesting & very informative. Aye! lad & lassie! "An American in Edinburgh!" Who knew? LOL. Excellent job folks! Thank you for sharing this delightful experience in my favorite City....beautiful Edinburgh! Blessings to you both!

The building at 9.49 is one of the stables that was built roughly every 7 miles along the Forth and Clyde canal in the 1750s to rest the horses that were used to pull the canal boats. The Stables Restaurant in Kirkintilloch which you may have passed but which is not shown in the film was also one, and you will pass another two in your next video.

I live very near to this section of the canal. In the scrub to the left near the loch at 3.18 (Banknock) there are the ruins of the old Banknock distillery - a whisky distillery long gone. The ruin at 5.46 was formerly a restaurant but it was built at the time of the canal (1750s) as a resting point for the horses that pulled the canal boats and their occupants. These buildings are placed roughly every 7 miles along the canal. You might have seen another similar ruin just back from the canal about 0.5km from Auchenstarry (around 2.20 in the video). You also have two of these buildings in your previous video on the canal at 9.49 and the Stables Restaurant was also one. I'm not sure where you ended the walk but as you follow the Forth and Clyde canal to the Kelpies you would have past an industrial estate which, in 1750, was home to one of the largest iron foundries in the world - the Carron Iron Works, which made the famous carronade small gun which featured on ships during the Napoleonic wars. The iron works lasted until the 1980s and also made many of the famous iron red British post boxes. I hope you enjoy the rest of your time in Scotland.

The video is not very meaningful, it shows only superficial shots and doesn't go into details. For example it shows only a breakfast in a penthouse suite, but not the regular breakfast buffet, that had no tropical fruits like Mangos, Papayas or bananas at all. The lunch buffet was with a few exceptions always the same. The Mariner is an old boat, a real renovation is urgently needed ( sewage smell in the lower floors). In view of service in the restaurants and culinary specialty our worse cruise for ever.
