    could you swap the throttle body back over to the other side where it was from factory? I have plans to do a 6G75 MIVEC swap into a Diamante wagon with the same 6G72 SOHC 12V originally yours had. I plan to cut the perimeter of the plenum and rotate it 180deg and weld it back on so everything is reversed sides. I also plan on cutting the throttlebody flange and reattaching so it's the same angle and approximate placement as the original throttle body so I can use the original intake pipe to keep things looking somewhat factory. The EGR tract is going to be removed and hole welded up etc and sanded smooth so you'll hardly know it was there. The head to upper manifold mounting nubs will also have to be cut and rewelded if they were to be retained. I figured it would just be easier for us 3000GT/Diamante platform owners to retain the throttlebody on the original side.

      Its not that simple, you have to install the bushings, use the template I made to mark the holes and drill new mounting holes,it would honestly be easier if you had a machinist over there make them for you. I showed all the dimension on my drawing in one of the videos, but I dont have total thickness yet as I still need to shim them to the proper offset.

  • @Rikverse24
    @Rikverse24 5 месяцев назад

    Funny how we both had same idea. Evo X Rotor and Z18 Caliper. New (new rebuild, sand blasted) Z18 Calipers cost about $200 in Germany. VR4 got 157mm Caliper Mountig Hole to Hole Z17 Brake Caliper I tried first was 146mm. So 11mm off. Thats 5.5mm difference in the holes. How did you made these bushings and would they work? I also tried some cheaper 4 piston Mercedes Benz AMG brembos from old E55 AMG and they fit perfect on the Evo X 350mm Rotor too. Since the AMG Brembos are smaller in braket size with only 100mm you can easy make an steel adaptor from 157mm (VR4) to 100mm (AMG) but brake pads are smaller and this is not good for racing. But for now I try to find a solution how to fit the Z18 like you did. Thank you for the video

    Are these Z17 or Z18 Brembos? Try to do the same but seems I need a adaptor since Z17 has 146mm from bolt to bolt and Stock 3000GT has 157mm Lochabstand. So a difference of 11mm between Brembo Z17 and Stock 3000GT. I use Mitaubishi Evo 10 Brake Rotors with 350mm diameter, 32mm width. They fit perfect and have same depth as 3000GT Rotor. Maybe 0,5mm less depth Maybe I cut the Dust Shield in top and just rotate the caliper a few degrees to the top so an adapter would fit. Would like to see new videos from you.

    Hey, do you know anyone that can weld aluminum? Picked up an M90 Supercharger, figuring out how to attach mounting plate for it to a Diamante upper 6G74 plenum for my 6G75 swap.

    • @twosunsracing
      @twosunsracing 6 месяцев назад

      Well personally I would just make an adapter plate and then what you would do is you would lay your plenum gasket down the center as a template and then you could chain drill the holes out and knock those out smooth them with a dremel with the sanding drum. Drill and counter sink the holes to mount the plate to the lower plenum,and then you could center the M90 supercharger over the top of that and then just drill and tap holes in the plate for the mounting screws for the super charger. I would run something along the lines of at least half an inch plate for tge whole adapter,, 3/8" minimum. The thing you might run into an issue with is the fuel rail mounts since once installed they set pretty much level with the top of the plenum. You might actually have to run like a quarter inch spacer to safely clear everything.as long as everything is super flat youcould use grey or black rtv to seal everything up. I have some pretty bad ass pencil grinder bits you could use in a dremel to help knock out the ports once you chain drill them if you want. Not unless you want someone to Plasma cut it all out for you, if you rather go that route hit up Jax Fab and let them know what you want to do, im sure if you supply the plate and template they could get it knocked out for you relatively quick

    I was trying to find an affordable OEM Radial mounted caliper. Viper calipers used to be sub 300, but now are over 500 each. I ended up going with 6 piston Wilwoods for 370 each. In the process of having brackets made to bolt up to the vr4 knuckle. Also using the EvoX rotor.

    • @twosunsracing
      @twosunsracing 6 месяцев назад

      Geez thats a lot per, even with the insane core charge, off rock auto these calipers are only around $150 each,so around $600 for front and rears. The eventual plan with to also make it work with base/SL knuckles to cover all the 3s cars.

    • @3SM20Pilot
      @3SM20Pilot 6 месяцев назад

      @@twosunsracing You're right, It is. But I think it's still reasonable considering the other options. KSport bbk is 2300. They use a nicer 8 piston caliper but only have a 13" rotor. The FWD knuckles can take a CTS-V caliper that bolt on but they use a Mustang cobra rotor that doesn't fit as nice as the EVO rotor so you have to run a spacer and longer wheels studs. More hassle but overall cheaper. I think I had 7-800 in my CTS swap but that was 5 years ago. The FWD knuckles have the unthreaded hole where the VR4's are threaded. So the mounting legs on the calipers vs the hubs are swapped, if that makes sense. You're fortunate enough to have the skills and tools to make the plugs for those calipers to allow you to modify them so they'll bolt on. So to market them to other people (if that's your intention) you would probably have to buy the calipers, modify them, and then add your mark-up to them. I'm going to see what it would take to make the Wilwood caliper brackets available to the 3s community. They aren't as big as the calipers you're using, but they should allow many more wheels to fit.

    • @twosunsracing
      @twosunsracing 6 месяцев назад

      @@3SM20Pilotid love to be able to market the whole kit ready to go, but I'd want to be able to track the car and beat the snot out of it to be able to prove these work. I was fortunate enough to take a machinist class in high-school and landed a job right after I graduated, but work dried up and I moved on. Where I work now I was able to network and become good friends with the machinist, so he let's me use his stuff when I want lol. Eventually I'd love to make billet brackets that just bolt onto the knuckle and you can bolt the caliper to it.

    • @Rikverse24
      @Rikverse24 5 месяцев назад

      @@twosunsracingsince I try the same in germany right now for the european 3SX Community we can stay in contact. You may have some email or Facebook? I plan to rotate the Z18 a little bit to the top with a bracket since the holes from Z18 are 5.5mm off compared to stock mounting holes But you need to cut the top dust shield a little bit to make this possible. I think the Evo X with Z18 Caliper would be a perfect Big Brake kit for VR4. I also tried Z17 Brakes but they only work with smaller rotors. Hyundai Genesis 3.8 V6 rotors with 340mm diameter could work with the smaller Z17 Brembos. Or Renault Megane RS 340mm Discs which also have 5x114.3. Then i tried Mercedes E55 AMG Calipers from early 2000s. These are 4 piston brembos that fit perfect to the Evo X Rotor. The E55 AMG Brembos are nearly same size as stock ones but you could mount them more easy. I also tried Audi S6 HP2 Brake Calipers since these are floating 2 Piston Calipers that reduce brake flattering which is good for racing. The HP2 Brakes work with Lancer Evo VII VIII and IX 320mm brake disc. It is only a little better brake so I would just prefer the Z18 over all the other ones I tested. And then there is the Alfa Romeo Brera 3.2 V6 Brembos for 330mm Disc with Horizontal Mount. So any adapter would be possible. For the Evo X Rotors you could also use Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio QV 2.9l Twin Turbo Brembos. These fit universal with rotational mounting. You need some L-Steel to make an adaptor. The Alfa Giulia QV are quite expensive 6 piston brembos for 350-365mm Rotors. ($350 each)

    • @twosunsracing
      @twosunsracing 6 месяцев назад

      I have to get more play dough to do an actual height measurement difference once I get the motor back in the car, I know the mivec upper wouldn't let the hood close, but it was super close, so I was thinking maybe with some bracing trimmed in the area of the plenum maybe. But I have a 1g scoote hood I will be molding the center section of to use on a 2g hood, there isn't a huge demand for them so it will probably be limited to just me for the copies lol. And that definitely will take away clearance because I think the scoops are about 2in in height, so this hood would probably barely clear a stock 6g72 much less the taller 6g75.

Its a about trying to achieve a close to 50/50 balance, my personal build if money was no object, would to use a Nissan RB26 AWD trans front and rear diffs, axles, knuckles etc from a skyline and graft it all in to keep the front and rear diff ratios the same. @moparmuscle4life I have a friend that was making parts to adapt the Evo caliper, but not a Porsche caliper. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with

    Thank you for sharing your journey on this swap, huge fan and hope to one day maybe do the same thing or something similar. I binged your videos and it's great to see how relatively interchangeable these mitsubishi parts are between eachother. You've done a great job with the swap so far, can't wait to see it running and complete. Maybe we can find a way to get the 6g75 intake manifold on somehow, there's gotta be a way lol or some kind of hood modification necessary. I personally would have removed cruise control and kept the air intake on the right side in its place, but I think your approach is better and lets you keep things more stock which is great. Do you plan to run the A/C system?

    Sick build brother, hope it goes well and I personally thank you for documenting the process. Hopefully at the end you can have a full list of donor parts that are necessary to make the swap work.

    I think from what might help you a little bit as well as join some 3G and some 4G Mitsubishi Eclipse forms and ask some questions some of those guys are really knowledgeable on this engine you're using a 2006 or 2007 engine in 2008 they changed it there's no longer a variable valve timing actuator on the timing belt side of the engine. I would suggest changing the gaskets in those they go bad and timing belt has to come off but I'm captivated in what you're doing it's amazing

      this one is a 07, the back up is a 06, trust me i am am cruising club 3g and club 4g forums, thats how i found the 06 eclipse gt FSM for free for download lol. as far as i know and have found the mivec motor from 06-12 in the eclipse gt and from 08-12 in the galant ralliart are all the same. but yes minus head gaskets i planning on fully cleaning up, painting and regasketing the engine. going to also figure out is i want to stick with an eclipse oil pan or go with the endeavour one for more exhaust room. trying to keep this as back yard swappable so others might want to do it. the biggest thing for me is seeing these incredible builds or swaps and people going wow thats cool, but i could never do that.

    u should try recycling the end peices and jus move em over to the edges of the body and just get a longer deck peice. should be a simpler process

      I could have, but I wouldn't have been able to open the hatch unless you were talking about still attaching the wing to the hatch and just widening it so the edges of the uprights line up with the edges of the body.
