50 pounds is an insane amount for a non-diesel engine. It would also be interesting to hear the compression of the combustion chamber. I can't remember if the guy says it in the video or not.

Well if you think about it, the exhaust comes out on the left & right side of the engine, so he is not in the "blast radius" lol.

The accelerator is hit to the floor. When that happens the supercharger sucks in air, forcing it into the combustion chamber. But, that's not the amazing thing... oh no. The valves open to a whopping force of 50 POUNDS per SQUARE INCH of pressure into the combustion chamber. This results in a gain of over 600 horse power at the crank. Then the exhaust is so much, that without direction from headers, it just bursts out into the air with extreme force creating a serious shockwave like affect.

It's not supercharged? What ya think that big ole supercharger on top of the intake is? Dummy.

I think the guys working on the car would have respirators on if it was top fuel. Plus its not supercharged. FAIL.

Well, for an American or anybody from anywhere for that matter, volumetric efficiency, thermal efficiency, and brake mean effective pressure are far greater performance yard sticks than "power per unit of displacement" could ever be......because it doesn't mean anything.

Well i guess for an American it's meaningless. "it's just to get a bigger engine" Well in mostly rest of the world there are something like taxes, and those get insane once the displacement passes 3L, and emissions and soforth go up... Of cause this is a race engine so in that matter, it don't matter. Once you are stuck to pump gas the "tech" level has to be umped considerably. The real tech in these engines is the ignition system, or in deatail the power of it to overcome the cylinder pressure.

I don't think they even turned on the nitromethane. If I'm not mistaken, when the engine is cold they start on alcohol. Once it reaches a set temperature, they switch to nitro and everything changes. The engine starts popping, the crew puts on masks, and the exhaust turns a dark yellow color. Nitromethane exhaust is about as pleasant as tear gas.

To answer your question on how much nitro methane. It is 90% nitro and 10% alcohol.

Nitro cologne.... Me thinks not. Unburnt nitromethane form nitirc acid in your lungs- HIDEOUS shit that stufff. Love the TOP FUEL machines but. I remember 20 yrs ago sucking up the fumes....LOL- shortened my life expectancy , but , what the heck :))
