Its quite a dangerous mountain but looks esier than it is, in the winter it can be leathal
@@David-mo5jw Oh yeah I can imagine it being a tough one in the snow. But on a clear day or similar to this day it is quite an easy walk throughout. Tough on the top if wanting to scramble right up but well worth it for the views.
Nice video Craig. I was looking for a tour through the trails to see if i could do it with my electric scooter and your video was good for that. I enjoyed watching the full video! Keep it up! Greetings from Switzerland :P
I'm a local fell runner and there's an infamous race from the summit to the road coming down the western gully which is super steep and all loose rocks, one guy held the course record for a couple of decades but broke both his wrists setting it, which was incredibly just over 8 minutes, lovely shots but please always carry enough clothing to keep warm and dry and extra for an emergency, that route is an accident hotspot after all, I've helped rescue two groups of people up there in the past and people are always surprised by how cold they get just sitting and waiting for rescue, especially when it's a few hours, I've also witnessed the helicopter recovering a dead body up there which is heart-breaking. Also the drone footage is great but FFR please be aware that Tryfan and the Ogwen Valley are drone no fly areas, you can check the National Trust land map to see which areas are excluded, also a paper map and compass on routes you don't know, especially scrambles, is very useful!
Yeah that was my bad on the drone flying, I only found out about the National Trust having a restriction on this in their land after this hike. You are however allowed to takeoff from the public footpath/road going through the valley and can then fly over the National Trust land without permission, just as long as you takeoff and land from public. At least I not know of the National Trust restrictions going forward 👍🏼 As for paper maps and compass, I only ever take these on very long walks that take over 3 hours as I just use AllTrails on the phone for anything less with extra battery packs just in case.
@@DiscoverWithCraig Yeah that's right NT have no actual control over the air space, just what you do when actually standing on their land. I find for even short technical routes a map can be very useful though as they can be very difficult to navigate the first time, I remember getting lost going up the direct line up Pen yr Ole Wen many years ago less than a mile into the walk! 🤣
Brilliant vid , brought back fond memories of going to Pentewan sands every yr since 1995 then with both my kids every yr too , started with 1 kayak and ended up with 3 kayaks and a honwave 4metre dinghy with outboard, took up bass fishing early morning around that area, enjoy your holiday there, oh Sharksfin in Mevagissey a lot of the time too, not sure if Andy is still running the ship in Pentewan too, cheers 👍👍
Stack Polly is the pronunciation you are looking for.
The “little islands” are v probably Crannogs. Early settlements, you will not be popular camping on them. Sort your knees by using two trekking poles. They take massive weight off your hips and knees.
@@keithtanner2806 Thanks for letting me know. I’ve not wild camped for some time now but it’s on my cards soon but will steer clear from the “Crannogs” 👍🏼 Been thinking if to get some poles, maybe will get some soon.
When I feel down and so low, i watch your short videos. They kinda hv some magic to make feel happy. And I show them to my husband as well. I will be in Switzerland for a week and I’m gonna do the murren via ferrata and the trift bridge. Totally inspired by your experience.
This a very beautiful video clip. I cannot stop watching this. You are absolutely correct about the fact that how one can gain so much of wisdom by traveling. I’m planning solo trip to Europe in September, and oh boy what have shared in your travel experience is very helpful and priceless. It really is.
Brilliant video, your drone footage is top notch👌
Appreciate it mate and glad you enjoyed it. 👍🏼
Isnt there sharks in cornwall waters pal?

Absolutely brilliant vid. Is that where people jump from one stone to the other at the top? Drone footage is spectacular 👍
@@jeffreyroberts7438 It is, which I found out after I’d done this walk 🤦🏼♂️😂 Could have got the drone to record it otherwise but think I got some decent enough footage anyway. Thank you 🤟🏼
Amazing 👍🎉
Such a cool video.
Thank you 🙏🏼
Wow, what stunning footage! I absolutely loved this video, especially the clip in the lake with the yellow song-it really made me feel like I was on a virtual rowing tour. Thank you so much for sharing your experience!!
Glad you enjoyed it, and that’s exactly what I want people to feel, like it’s a kind of virtual tour of the places I go to. Please do watch some of my other content if you liked this one, loads more videos still to come too 👍🏼
@@DiscoverWithCraig For sure I will watch all of them. I have already watched a few. Its much better than watching Netflix 😄. The drone footage is simply stunning. May I please ask what is the drone that you use?and to fly it in the Alps do you need a special permit?
I'm planning a trip to the Dolomites this September. If you have more videos about the Dolomites, please share it. Your content is incredibly helpful for those who have been eager to explore new places for a long time and learn about what to expect and the challenges we might face. Thank you!
@@AnjulaNarangoda That’s the best compliment I’ve had ever, better than Netflix 😂 Love it! And as for drone flying, as long as you have insurance, have a drone pilot licence and you check the airspace for any restrictions, you’re all good to go 👍🏼
I really need a drone! The footage you get is amazing! 😍 I've also not done that walk either, I parked at Ryhd Ddu last year and went up Snowdon that route, I bet we were there nearly at the same time you know because I had great weather that week too! It was September that I went 😂 If you ever want a walking buddy for one of your walks then I'd be up for it as I'm a solo hiker too! And I'm always going to Wales!

Another epic weather day in Wales! 😍 I also need to do Tryfan 😂 and I've added that campsite to my list, looks really good there!
Beautiful day for that quality climb. And yeah I’ll 💯 be back to that campsite soon too, can’t grumble for those kinds of prices on such a nice site, with a pub on site too 🍻
I’m actually planning on going to wales this weekend and into next week as I’m off! And hopefully the weather is picking up again too 😂 so I might try this site then!
Wow what an amazing day it was to visit the brickworks here! I love north wales and Anglesey too! I need to go here as well at some point. I am catching up on your videos as I always used to watch from when you started the channel, not sure if it was under this youtube account that I created to match my Instagram or my main youtube one but I have watched from the start either way 😂 then I kind of had some stuff going on in life and kind of had a break in watching things on here, but enough waffling 🤣 I loved the drone footage too!
Mate I had glorious weather in Wales that time I went for a week. Hoping to go back soon enough. Of course I remember ya pal. Still not getting many comments on the vids so I do remember those that do 👍🏼 And 💯 get it, when ya need time to just focus on yourself you gotta do what’s best for you buddy. Glad to see ya back though
Is it tintagel pal? One more question is it £11 a night pal?
I mean that’s how it’s spelt, but you say it however ya want, until you get corrected by a local 😂 and yeah, if you didn’t get that, it’s just £11 a night, bargain 😆
@@DiscoverWithCraig it's mike. £20 seems a bit steep looked nice though
After taking the cable car do I need to hike ? If yes then how much ?
You can just gently walk to the lake if you don’t want to hike up the mountain but if you want to do the mountain walk then it takes around 3.5 hours and around 3-400m height. Worth it for the views though 👍🏼
Wonderful Craig as always! Really enjoy you vlogs. Thanks for sharing. Beautifully filmed. You definitely deserve thousands more subscribers. People are missing out! ❤
Ahh bless ya Sue. Hopefully it’ll soon start getting out to the right people but I’m over the moon with the support already anyway 🫶🏼
I was 50 first time I did the pass of cattle and I've done it over 10 times since on various motorcycles best view's ever as you come from applecross to kishorn.....love it so much I'm going again this year on my triumph thunderbird ..64 this year ...oh Happy day's 😁🏍️
Happy days indeed 👍🏼 can imagine it an amazing ride on the motorbike. My mate still trying to get me to get a licence to join him in his 🤔 thinking about it
@@DiscoverWithCraig don't think about it just do it....best experience ever on a motorcycle 🏍️👍
Stunning walk, I’d love to drive them mountain roads looks like good fun, didn’t see many potholes like over here!!🤣
Yeah no pot holes at all, none that I seen or driven over anyway. Maxing passes to drive through with the stunning scenery!
👌🏻
Stunning!
I suffer with vertigo myself on ridge walks initially. However, after the initial wobble and telling myself to take my head for a shit i get through it. Never done anything where im teathered on like this video but id love to give it a go. The bridge looked interesting haha. Good on ya lad. Really enjoyed the video.
😂😂👍🏼 I still have a little wobble on ridge walks no matter how much I do them, but then have that same convo with myself 😂 Definitely one to do if you’re in Swiss. Making me want to do more via ferrata’s for sure. Cheers for watching pal 👍🏼
@@DiscoverWithCraignothing wrong with having a wobble. That’s called self preservation haha. Crib cough this summer for me. If that goes well then it’s training for the Welsh 3000’s. Keep up the good work.
I used to drive the Bealach twice a week summer and winter in a big van doing deliveries , I never tired of the views 😵💫
Absolute stunning place, and the Applecross Pass 🫶🏼 What a road!
The Bealach is not a dangerous road, it's the lack of driving ability of some people who feel the need to say they've driven it. I have taken our twenty year old twenty-one foot motorhome up and down it in many different conditions with no issues other than the idiots who do not know how to negotiate a single track road.
Not to mention those that park in passing places 🙄 Totally agree
@@DiscoverWithCraig Dinnae get me started on those wallopers. I could launch into a three hour tirade on that subject without any problems.
@@williemacdonald72 😂😂
Road to Applecross! Great fun. Managed it in the snow in my rear wheel drive there and back (not a speck of snow at ground level when we set off!)
I did it the other way around, come from Applecross and oh my days what a drive. Applecross Pass was one of my fav parts of my road trip 👍🏼
Just found your channel. Excellent Video. What's the awning over your tailgate?
Thank you 🙏🏼 It looks like they’ve either sold out or stopped selling but I’m sure you’ll be able to find something similar on Amazon. amzn.eu/d/bnr940Q Type in “Tailgate awning”
Hi Craig, I’m wondering when this was filmed? I’m coming to Switzerland in the coming weeks and in particular for this hike I’m wondering what to wear as you mentioned it’s quite warm - looks like summer! Glad you enjoyed and a really informative video otherwise!
Hey Danny, this was actually filmed at beginning of October which the locals were telling me it was unusual for that time of year. Had gorgeous weather throughout my time in Switzerland, 2-3 weeks of glorious sunshine. Might still be a little cool in Spring but you might just get it lucky like I did 🤞🏼🤞🏼
The Trift-Galcier is a sad testimony to the changes of the alpine world in the last 50 years. In the 1980's the glacier reached to the bridge and there was no lake, but that was all glacier. Till the 1990's you could pass over the gorge on the glacier to the Trift-hut, but it was clear then that this crossing would be gone soon and the first trift-bridge was build in 2004 and then replaced by the current bridge in 2009. Imagine that what you see at 22'49'' was all filled with ice some 40 years ago. The views are spectacular still today, but for those who knew what it was like before, it is rather depressing.
That is crazy. I’ve just looked up some photos of this. It’s mad how much it has changed. Not sure if it’s true but just read that they’re planning a dam there and seen an illustration of it 🤦🏼♂️
@@DiscoverWithCraigIndeed there is a hydropower project at the Trift in discussion, but it is quite controversial and for the moment there is no agreement that it will be realized anytime soon. By the way very nice video Craig.
What a place, outstanding scenery my friend! This lake is out of this world!
Thank you. Such a stunning lake and surreal surroundings

Edge of the seat stuff this, you wouldn’t have got me up there!🫣Then you get your phone out to take a selfie 😂

What time of year was this?
Beginning of Oct 23
Got vertigo just watching your afternoon jaunt whilst lying in bed. Great video under the circumstances and nature of your walk.
Haha hope you managed to balance ok when you got up 😂 Thank you. Now I’ve got the latest GoPro I will be able to get a larger range of viewing so when I do another like this you will get to see more 👍🏼
I enjoyed watching this very cool video. Teacher, can I go by public transportation without a car?
In all honesty I am not sure. I didn’t see any trains or buses in the area although I’m pretty sure there must be.
yes thank you very much
