Luminar Neo | For Beginners AND Pros? #skylum, #luminar, #luminarneo
A few days ago I found a bag that was almost the same design as my dream bag, but the price blew my mind. I have a soul resonance with kislux . It taught me that beauty doesnât have to be expensive, it just has to be right.
What is the blue jacket you’re wearing? I’m looking for a decent jacket.
It's an Arc'teryx rain jacket. No lining - just a light jacket for rain. It's a great outer shell/layer to keep you dry. Small enough to easily roll up and put in a pack.
@ thank you much. I’m from Washington too. My favorite place to travel.
That after look looks very unnatural, very plasticy. The relationship between shadows and high light parts is totally off.
Not a great concept for carrying any distance. I Always use full pack with waist belt to spread load even on light days.
I’ve used the bag all day walking the streets of Seattle with no issues. I find it extremely comfortable and convenient. However I’m only carrying 1 body, 2 lenses and an extra battery.
Very interesting bag design....I'm not a fan of slings usually but the fact that you can pull your camera out without taking the bag off is a huge win. Don't tell my wife but I just ordered one!
Sling bags are super convenient for easy access but unfortunately don't work well for me. I just hate carrying anything in front. Carrying it on the back work better but then it's almost as easy to access the camera in a backpack with side opening. Only almost as easy but to me a backpack has other advantages like better load distribution, more room (if needed) and IMO a backpack work better with Peak Desing Capture Clip and similar solutions. I have both the Mindshift Backlight 26L and the 45L. The 26L has never become a favorite. I keep it though as It's nice when I need quite a bit of photo gear and not much other stuff. However when I'm out I often need less camera gear than it has room for and more other stuff than the front room allow. The 45 is super useful as it is my only pack that holds my camera with a fairly large tele zoom mounted and still has room for more.
For a lot of my work, the 26L is my go to bag. It fits 3 lenses, 2 camera bodies, batteries, chargers, memory cards, and other accessories really well. It's what I use when I travel by air as I know it will fit above or if I have to, I can get it under the seat. The 45L is fantastic for lots of gear (adding a drone, controller, extra layers of clothing, first aid kit, water, snacks, etc) for longer hikes out into the wilderness. The K&F sling bag is perfect for outings like I used and described in my video. If it could hold a small travel tripod securely it would be just about perfect. I love the peak design camera straps and anchors, and I have their capture clip - my problem is I use an L bracket for my cameras and that just doesn't work for me at all.
A bag that will fit under the seat in front is a great point - it just makes flying a lot less stressful. No need to get on the plane early to be sure it's enough space in the overhead compartment and everything accessible during the flight. I flew with the 45L for the first time this summer and there were no problems. I had removed the hip belt and the lid to make is look smaller and easier to store, but they didn't even look at it at the check in or gate. Not room for it under the seat though. The problem for my flying with the 26L is that I want a minimum of extra clothing and other necessities in my carry on and it's simply not enough room for other stuff in that pack, maybe unless it's summer and I travel to somewhere with warm stable weather. I like Capture Clip a lot but don't use it as much as I want to. The reason is mainly weather where I live and (mostly) travel to. I can rarely trust it to be nice enough for a whole trip, even only for a day so I want easy access from a pack anyway. My preferred solution has been LowePro PhotoSport packs. Haven't used the last/current BP 24L AW III, but the two first versions (Photo Sport BP 300 AW II is still available in some stores). Camera access is easy from the side, but the camera compartment is small so no large tele and basically one body + a lens which is fine for me but judging from the video maybe not for you. There are however room for a travel tripod inside as the camera compartment (on version I/II) isn't as wide as the pack. LowePro Photo Active BP 300AW (and a 200-version) has room for a bit more camera gear (less non-camera gear) and also a tripod inside if you configure the "shelves" for it - and a laptop. Maybe I have to have another look at the latest BP 24L AW III...
By comparing replicas with genuine items, you can learn how to identify the authenticity of a bag. I think kislux also has artistic value. This change allowed me to devote more resources to a true art collection while maintaining my own style.
You are the 3rd person in the last year to do a review on this bag and like you they did a great job. I bought mine about 4 months ago as an EDC so that I could take one of my cameras to work with me. I've been trying to make a video about it (witch would be my second) to talk about the note that Amazon put on the page. You indirectly addressed it when you talked about the different bags that you have and how you use them 😁. I will try to get it out this month, wish me luck as we have never done anything like this before. Earnie
Nice shots James ! Thanks for the review, I've been looking for a small day bag as well.
Really enjoyed this video! Can’t wait to see the photos from your workshop! Keep up the awesome work!
I agree that there are no "noticeable" difference. But when comparing stabilised vs no stabilised, you should check the "corners" as this "may" give a slight warp. Logically: The lens is not moving on the camera, but the sensor has stabilisation, therefore moving in respect to the lens, but centre of the image are not affected. I see it like a different type of vignetting (warping), but often we just ignore. Only the geeks look for these problems clinically using 400% magnification. Its perfectly fine leaving stabilisation on.
Greetings from Mukilteo!
Hello! 👋 Thanks for watching!
Thanks for this brief and yet comprehensive tutorial to get me started. Just bought the lifetime license for Luminar Neo as I've now decided to switch from Lightroom. Already love the ease of use that Luminar Neo provides!
Great images James! Looks like you had a wonderful trip - thanks for sharing 👍
@@markdrawbridge2244 thanks Mark! Hope you can join me next year on a photo trip!
I know right
Udana wyprawa i piękne zdjęcia. Warto jeździć na Islandię.🙂
Late morning is more beautiful
How do you switch between full scale before/after? I hear a keyboard click. And can you return to the original picture to start editing all over again? BTW, I was about to get my 30 days refund until I saw your video. Now I am looking for a detailed printable manual to get familiar with this product. I am a LcR user but it cost a lot to keep that hostage software running, thank you.
Thanks! Please note that my answer is using the latest version of Luminar - at the time of this post it is 1.20 In the edit panel, bottom right is an eyeball that can be toggled on/off. On a PC you can also use the "\" backslash key to do a before and after. To the left of the eyeball is a an icon that if you click it will divide your image in half and allow you to move your mouse left and right over the image to see before and after - before on the left side, after on the right. To clear all of your edits, click the edits tab next to tools in the upper right - at the bottom is a button to discard edits.
@@JamesParkerPhotography Thank you! It would be if there were a list with keyboard shortcuts, I found some useful myself, like pressing the shift key together with the scroll wheel to change the seize of the marker spot.
Super !!! Ostatnie zdjęci jest rewelacyjne. 😀
Beautiful! Like you, I can't imagine sitting on one comp for a whole photo shoot. Thanks for sharing!
I enjoy shooting long distance with my Nikon P950 camera. It’s very lightweight and it zooms out to 2000mm. It doesn’t always take sharp pictures but it’s a great camera for me to start with. Great video. ❤❤❤
Awesome video! Also can you tell me what monitor you’re using, its amazing 🙏🏾
@@michaelekwulugo8659 Samsung Odyssey Neo G9. 57” of greatness.

Tere are many plugins that generate hi res when singing generative fill.
Good information, good shot of The Bend, but hardly different than thousands out there already. If I cannot setup for the Golden Hours, without crowds, then I'll go elsewhere than The Bend. You explained you feel differently and I respect that. Now Canyon X photo tour (I don't take video), that is interesting. Very good photos. Plenty of slot canyons elsewhere, many that are not well-known. Stairs? What's next, an escalator or Segway Tours?
Is this a sponsored video? It feels like it, but you don’t say so
I did receive a copy of Luminar Neo and it does state in the description that I have an offer code that you can use and yes, I do receive a small commission off any sales. I just checked to be sure the Paid Promotion box was clicked as well.
@@JamesParkerPhotography I thought it was required for it to be said in the video itself, at the beginning. That’s what seems to happen everywhere. Perhaps I’m wrong. I’m really not trying to be officious here, I just like to know up front whether I’m watching an impartial review or a demo
@@Arthur_My_Dear - I am not aware of a requirement. However I will take that advice and do so in the future.
Does Luminar Neo remove dust and scratches from old negatives and slides? And if so, would that be possible in batch automatically?
It automatically does dust spots but not scratches. You can sync your edits across multiple photos.
Hello Sir Can I apply the same setting to all the images in a cluster? I shoot weddings and I want to edit all pictures at once with the same edit setting with this software. is it possible Thank You
Yes. You can sync an edit to multiple images.
Does it have layers? Also does it apply to multiple images so I don’t have to sit edit one by one
Yes - It does have layers but they don't work the way Photoshop layers work. It's more like a preset that is applied that you can adjust. Yes - you can edit an image and have those apply to all of your photos.
Those power lines are gone like the revenue of Adobe
Thanks for the instruction video, it does look a lot harder than you would think. Also, thank you very much for showing the non-cropped version on some of your shots. It gave me a real good idea of how well my canon 100 - 500 mm lens would do. You did come away with some really nice shots.
Your ice shoots were stupendous! What a sky! I was there (Iceland) the first week of August for 8 days and I don’t think we shot at any of the same locations, it’s amazing how much there is to shoot there! I could go back again and again. Nice images.
Thanks Mark!
Nice photos, what time of the year was this?
August. 👍🏻
Glacier Lagoon is amazing. Thank you so much for sharing. Hope to see you soon.

Beautifully done.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Can you share the location esp where in Puget Sound? Thanks.
I need to start finishing the process;)
Outstanding choreograph of drone shots, and still shots !!
This software confuses the heck out of me.
The workflow/history is a little wonky. Watch a few videos and practice a little with it and it gets easier.
I'm just starting the journey of printing on Aluminium, I have a decent Sublimation printer. After seeing your video it has made me even more determined, I live in Australia and looked at getting somone to do all the work for me, but prices in Australia are ridiculous so I sunk $4,000 into a decent sublimation printer and will just keep testing till I get it right.😊
James, do they spray any protection on the panel after printing?
Great video! I have a spot here in Wisconsin at a river, that has lots of eagles in the winter time. I too like landscape photography, but want to give this a try… can you tell me, was the 1/2000 of a second, the speed you need?
@@jayfeiner2535 if you want to freeze the birds if they get into a fight that’s a safe bet. If they are just soaring or sitting, no. You can go slower. Best way to decide is just try different speeds and see what works for you. I’d say a minimum at 400-600mm is 1/1250 or so.
Nice! I've been to these exact locations a few times and can relate to the issues that you encountered.
Actually 9.3 miles from the trailhead to the town of Cougar.
Iceland is so beautiful. When you were shooting bracketing, (five shots I believe) were you using the auto bracket in camera (if so, how many stops between shots) or were you bracketing manually?
Thanks Mark! I was shooting 5 shots, 1 stop apart. Even if I didn't need them all (and I didn't) I didn't want to try to manually bracket due to how fast the light was changing.
What model of the mind shift backpack?
26L.
Beautiful work James. Thank for sharing
Love it. Thank you James.
Great light and angle! Which month did you visit?
@@sreetamadas8198 August. Just got home. 👍🏻
You definitely had some great light at that one location. So much epicness, perhaps one day I'll make it to Iceland. So many places to visit when time and money allows. Great video.
I have to ask if you’ve flown on a regional jet and if the bag you said fits under the seats will fit under the seats on them? I have a flight in two weeks to California to see Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks and will be flying on a CRJ 900 regional jet and have read that it is likely they will want me to valet check bags due to limited space. I have been non stop stressing over it and unsure whether my camera bag will fit under the seat and qualify as my personal item. It is a Lowepro Flipside 300 aw ii backpack and looks no larger than the bag in your video. Great video by the way and thank you for some tips!
I have flown those before and my bag either fit under the seat or in the overhead. I would definitely pack whatever you can in checked baggage to be safe. Here are the under seat dimensions from Delta’s website: www.delta.com/us/en/aircraft/bombardier/crj-900
@@JamesParkerPhotography thank you for the quick response! I’m going to be on an American Airlines flight but I would assume the dimensions would be the same being the same plane. My Lowepro bag is roughly 17”L x 12”W x 8”D so it appears it should fit under the seat and I’ll just lose room for my feet. They allow a carry on and personal item, my other carry on bag that I’m going to use for clothes and other items is just slightly larger than my camera bag so I’m hoping that if something has to be valet checked it will be that one and I’ll be able to keep my camera bag as my personal item or put it in the overhead bin.
@@natec9834 - I think you will be fine. Hope you come away with some great images!
