To avoid confusion between the interval and ratio scales, remember that the ratio scale has a “true zero” point. In other words, a point labeled as zero on such a scale represents a total absence of the quality being measured. For this reason, the Fahrenheit and Celsius temperature scales are interval scales, NOT ratio scales, because neither 0 degrees Fahrenheit nor 0 degrees Celsius correspond to “the absence of temperature.” They are both simply arbitrary points on the scale, and we cannot say that 40 degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius is twice as warm as 20 degrees. On the Kelvin scale, however, we can make this determination because 0 K actually IS a true zero where there is total absence of temperature. So 40K is actually twice as warm as 20K, and the Kelvin scale is a ratio measurement.

Wow finally someone actually explained geometric mean with an example. Thank you for your video! What is the benefit of the geometric mean in reflecting overall growth over just calculating the growth factor from the first value to the last? Is it used for projecting future growth say on a graph?
