Rachel BiIllings performs the second of the Trois Nouvelles Etudes by Chopin (Trois Nouvelles Etudes means "Three New Etudes"). Chopin Etude Op.25 No. 10 ("Octaves")
Просмотров 96821 день назад
Rachel Billings performs Chopin's Etude Op.25 No.10 in b minor. This pieces begins with a rather sinister opening and ending yet has a beautiful ray of golden sunshine in the middle and period for reflection. I liken the first four bars to climbing a mountain (perhaps one of the most challenging parts) and it's worth the climb just to get to the top! My favourite part is the middle section when...
Chopin Op. 25 No. 1 Etude ("Aeolian Harp") piano Rachel Billings
Просмотров 213Месяц назад
Rachel Billings performs Chopin's Etude Op. 25 No. 1 (nicknamed "Aeolian Harp"). None of the nicknames for the etudes were given by Chopin but by others and became familiar over time. Nevertheless I think the "Harp" nickname for this piece is very suitable. Interestingly there IS an arrangement of this etude for the harp (google "harp" and "Chopin etude" to find a video of Rosanna Rolton who pl...
Chopin Op.25 No.3 Etude ("horseman") & Chronophotography! Muybridge
Просмотров 98Месяц назад
Rachel Billings performs Chopin's Etude Op.25 No.3 nicknamed "The Horseman". Chopin never gave any of his etudes nicknames and these titles arose overtime, named by others, eventually becoming so familiar/standard. I do think the horsey title suits this music very well! This video is somewhat different from those I have made previously because this particular etude, chosen by my horse obsessed ...
Chopin Etude Op. 10 No. 4 " Torrent" Rachel Billings piano
Просмотров 252Месяц назад
Rachel Billings performs Chopin's Etude Op. 10 No.4 for piano, nicknamed "Torrent" perhaps because it suggests a torrent of raging and incessant water. Thank you for listening. I hope you enjoy the music I choose to play. For more information about myself and my music theory books (which were truely a labour of love) please go to www.aaronpublications.co.uk
The Merry Go Round of LIfe by Joe Hisaishi ( Anime piano "Howl's Moving Castle"). Arr. Animenz

Rachel Billings performs 'The Merry Go Round Of Life' from Howl's Moving Castle , composed originally by Joe Hisaishi for orchestra and also available in a beautiful piano arrangment written by the pianist Animenz. I stumbled accoss this music recently by accident and it is just so beautiful 😍. The original orchestral music (with a little piano) is also gorgeous. This is a type of Anime music (...
Chopin Etude Op 25 No 5 ("wrong note" study)
Просмотров 6442 месяца назад
Rachel Billings plays Chopin's Etude Op. 25 No 5 (nicknamed the 'wrong note' study due to the clashing non harmony notes placed either on the beat or as acciacaturas, just before). So the 'wrong' notes are in fact 'correct' and written in by Chopin himself ! Incidentally the nicknames for these etudes were not given by Chopin (I hope he would have approved). Some people also call this the "drun...

Absolutely brilliant 🎉
Why so fast? I’m sure Chopin wouldn’t complain if many of his pieces included this one, were played at 0.75 of the tempo you chose…. Less impressive maybe More expressive certainly More pleasing to the ear definitely.
I realise the tempo of Chopin's music is a contentious issue! It's a pity that Chopin isn't alive today so that we can double check his intentions. Problem is that Chopin specifically indicated this fast tempo on the score (crotchet equals 112 beats per minute). In addition to the specific metronome marking he ALSO wrote 'Allegro Assai' which means 'very fast'. Pianists are in a tricky situation if we wish to remain authentic to the composer's wishes. Thanks for your comment. There are different views on this and It's a tricky one.
@@rachelbillingspianoyou played brilliantly to me🌹
Great playing, good stuff man ❤
Glad you enjoy it!
Great job flawless even keep it up
Thanks for the encouraging words 😊. Best wishes, Rachel
@@rachelbillingspiano no problem
Brilliant
Beautifully played as always Rachel, thank you
Nicely Played!
From one pianist to another, you have incredible technique! This sounded great :)
Thanks for your kind words. Heaps of exercises plus Joseffy as well as Chopin Studies every practise session helps x
This is my new favourite video ever. By a long shot. What an amazing piece and such a beautiful piano!
Thank you. I'm really going through a Chopin phase at the moment. His music is gorgeous 😍 .
this is diabolic music
Very beautiful playing🎉 Wonderful piece of Chopin💙 I subscribed to follow your channel☺️🌹
Thank you very much!
Beautiful 😊
Yes Chopin's music is gorgeous!
I can play this piece with either hand at a fair speed now but am clueless on how to practice combining them. 😅
Keep at it...It eventually comes, through patience and determination (and lots of slow practice and exercises). But it's important to practice in a systematic way; honing in on the problem areas and identifying what exactly is the issue and how it can be fixed. There's always a solution 😊.
wow what is this brand of piano?your playing is awesome
Hi. Pleased you enjoy. Regarding the piano it's a #venablesandsons custom 200, 6.5 foot grand. I especially love the rich bass. . Yes it's a lovely piano 🎹 😍
Bravo! 👏👏👏👏👏
I just found your channel by chance. Jaw dropping performance!
Thank you for watching. Pleased you enjoyed 😊
Absolutely brilliant Rachel, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it. It is a bit of a workout and rather fierce (but necessary so as to keep technique up to scratch). I've planned a few calmer and happier pieces next...
@@rachelbillingspianoyou should do a CD Rachel
@@ianmoulton7264That's kind of you but realistically I feel it's already been done. There's better pianists out there who have already been there and done that and recorded these pieces better than I can do. One of my favourite pianists is Breatrice Rana, also Annique Gottler who between them have captured the interpretation in many of these Chopin Studies just as I'd have wanted to myself, so they've already done it. I'm also a fan of Ashkenazy. Nothing can match their playing and interpretations. Thanks for the kind comment though 😊
I don't know how anyone can play that.
Thanks for watching. It's all about thinking in patterns (that's why drilling scales, arpeggios and chords, including diminished for so many years is important) AND careful listening to main notes you want to bring out (to help it flow), hence why practising in this way helps. Diminished is infact one of the easiest as notes are all three semitones apart (if all played).
Brilliant 🎹
Thanks for watching 😊
Magnificent 💯
Wow, your performance of this Joe Hisaishi classic is simply mesmerizing! I can feel every note and emotion you put into it. You've gained a new subscriber and a like from me, my friend. Looking forward to more of your amazing covers. Keep shining! 🌟
Thank you very much!
Superb playing Rachel.
Thanks Carl. P.s Everyone check out Carl's site @carlmoretonmusic as he's a great guitar player, composer as well as multi media/website expert 😁
@@rachelbillingspiano that’s very nice of you Rachel 👌😁
Lovely.
Excellent Rachel.. 🙂
Great playing as always Rachel, and a lovely piece, I have never heard that before.
It’s gorgeous isn’t it- so pleased I discovered this gem. Glad you enjoyed!
👍👍👍👍
Excellent Rachel. 👏
You are very talented Rachel. 🎹🎹
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Absolutely brilliant Rachel. 😊
I love how your hands doesn't seem to move fast even though the music is fast. Mark of a real pro.
Thank you. Funny the word "pro"/professional though. There's always room for improvement. Efficiency of movement is due to LOTS of technical work. It's 99% perspiration 1% inspiration
Perfect
Perfection I find impossible to attain but thanks for watching! 👀 😊
Awesome! Thank you for sharing!
Brilliant as always Rachel. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Brilliant Rachel..🎹
Thanks for watching 👀 😊
Absolutely brilliant Rachel
Thank you 😊. Chopin wrote lovely music. By the way (sorry if it's a strange question) but are you the pastor of Chorley Chapel (he has the same name)?
Yes it’s me Rachel.
Amazing performance!
Wonderful playing 👏👏👏
Thanks for listening
This angle is great you can see exactly what your hands are doing and what the pedal is doing
Thank you for your feedback. I may try a similar angle in future.
Such precise fingerings.
Love this piece and your performance!
Never too late to upload a new version.
Will do one day, when I've the energy, then erase this. I actually did many takes and unfortunately it was the one without the mics which was the better (decided to put performance above audio quality). Not a perfect performance I know but hopefully next next time I'll get it exactly how I want both in terms of performance and audio (I.e me simply remembering to switch on the mics!)
This was an excellent performance! It's a shame about the microphones.
Thank you. Hopefully the next recordings will be with the external mics!
