Should you go to college? How an Exercise Science degree landed me a 100k a year job.
My mission is to help people and hopefully inspire them to do what makes them happy. Many people are wondering if college is for them, or if they should pursue something else. Others believe college is for no one. I on the other hand believe college can be for some, and I'm one of those people who were able to benefit from going to college for an exercise science degree. I was able to land a six-figure job less than two years after graduating with a master's degree. I'm one of the immigrants who've worked hard for what I have in America. I am also able to live in a foreign country and travel around the world because of this.

What $1800 a month in rent gets you in South Korea
Просмотров 28 тыс.4 года назад
I give you a tour of my $1800 a month rental home in South Korea. I go over some of the differences between Korean built homes and American built homes. Some of the most shocking ones were how beautiful the homes look on the outside vs the quality of the details on the inside. I wish Korean builders would take a little more time to work on the fine details within the homes. Oh! And the home pip...

why did you stop posting?
@@williamkneip I had gotten wrapped up in work & it became less of a priority. Anything you’d be interested in seeing or hearing?
New subscriber here. I greatly appreciate!!!!
So I was in the Navy for 6 years and thinking of almost going your exact route besides living abroad lol. Currently have a bachelors in business from years ago pre-Navy and want to use the GI Bill for something I enjoy. Because of my previous horrible GPA I can’t get a Masters in Exercise science but I can get another bachelors. Do you think that will affect the jobs available?
It’ll depend on who’s hiring and for what population it is, but I know plenty of folks with just undergraduate degrees who get into this type of work with the DoD.
No it's not
That my bruddah
Thats so encouraging , Ariel! Thank you so much. I've been struggling to find insights and experiences from people who have achieved what i envision to do. I hope you keep banging in videos! Im glad that I found your videos now I'm half way through my bachelors sports science with specialization in health and excercise physiology + 1st year in occupational therapy. If I found you earlier I would prob not do double majors. Do you want to give me your thoughts & perspective about combing these 2 majors? Thank you!
That's a beautiful frame, by the way. Where did you get it?
I found it in home goods years ago!
She still won't let me do anythinh
Wait.. the gas access and feed is right above the range? LOL
LOL.. Yeah..... It's safe-ish.
Legend!
In Korea the skilled workers for building houses & apartment can not keep up with the demand to build. That is why a lot of places are not finished or flawed.
Excellent video. I recently separated from the Air Force after seven years and will now be pursuing an Exercise Science Degree. This video definitely adds to my excitement for what’s to come in the future.
I made it all the way to the video and subscribed! Thank you for the video. I’m currently in a predicament. I’ve been in the military for 7 years now and have 1 year left on contract with the Marines. I don’t enjoy it to much and it feels like a safety net. I’m debating getting out or not. I currently have a NASM certification and OJT training. Additionally, I did PT at a gym and helped clients get in shape. My question is where do you recommend I search for training job you landed after you graduated (NSCA)? Also I’m completing my exercise science degree this year before getting out. Keep posting and thank you!
I got out at 5 years, the best decision I ever made. The benefits are great, but if you're not satisfied with life, then it's not worth sticking around. I would recommend getting your degree and the NSCA CSCS. You can work as a contractor or government employee providing human performance support to military members, as it's a growing field. Make sure to network as much as you can, especially at the NSCA annual tactical training (conference) and on LinkedIn or any other site like the Facebook special interest group (NSCA TSAC SIG).
Did you mean sports science, because that's a useless degree
Sure bud.
@@ArielHernandez1 Or is there a difference between those 2
Thanks, Is it it feasible to leverage this, so that you could train civilians that want to get tactical fitness training?
Of course, especially if you have the kind of understanding and background.
I’m 2 years late to this party lol but could you go more into detail about your internship(s)? I have 2 semesters left before I finish my BS in Exercise science, coaching, and fitness and sports management. I have an internship kind of lined up but I haven’t gotten into the specifics of it yet mainly because I genuinely don’t know. Like if it’s an unpaid internship in a place a good distance from home how do you go about supporting yourself? If you have a video already made for this I’ll definitely look into it. Thanks man!
I worked alongside a strength coach and physical therapist in a military environment. I learned a lot from those guys, as they weren't just making me do the "additional things they didn't want to do." if you are ever in a situation where you aren't receiving value from an internship, just step away, its a waste of time and they don't care about developing you. I was able to afford doing unpaid internships because I had very minimal bills and decided to move back in with my parents during grad school after I separated from the Air Force. Unfortunately, there are many of those in this field... But I would venture to say if it's worth it, look at creative ways to make it happen.
Woooow bro
Absolutely brilliant video, you gave me a real clarification!
Well done
this is inspiring!! Do you think you could review my statement of purpose for masters in exercise science program? thanks
Sure, but it may take me a but to review it.

@ariel hernandez any good college in us
I prefer korean bathrooms over american bathrooms anyday. The drain below the sink really helps keep your whole bathroom cleaner than the average american bathroom
Are y’all hiring? 😂 I’m almost done with my masters program 🥴🥴
We were.. not anymore lol
Hello aerial I've just completed my 4 years bachelor degree in nutrition and now planning to pursue my master in Canada. I wanna become physical therapist but I don't think I can make it because of my bachelor in nutrition. And now am planning to master in kinesiology and exercise science. Is fitness and health program is better or kinesiology, both seems to be same but I am confused which one is better. Can you help me on this?
I'm not 100% sure about the education system in Canada, but in the US, it doesn't matter if your undergrad was in nutrition, as long as you have the pre requisite courses for the physical therapy degree, they could accept you. But, Kinesiology is the science of movement, fitness and health is probably more centered around getting people to be healthy by exercising. Both are good.
This is so informative. Am doing a bachelor's degree in exercise and sports science Kenyatta university and was just in doubt about considering doing masters.
The field can be very competitive, but there are some decent opportunities, especially with the rise in overweight, obesity, and musculoskeletal injuries.
@@ArielHernandez1 have you graduated already?
@@estherhadasa1806 Yes I graduated some years back.
Hello brother I am planning to do master in fitness and health program. Will be able to choose field same as exercise science?
I believe so, fitness and health should be very closely related to exercise science.
I’m not sure to what kind of houses you refer here in the states… some 4x4’s put together with some horrible windows 😂😂😂 I find the average build quality in Korea to be by far superior to the US.
Great to hear Max!
@@ArielHernandez1 I think you got an excellent deal for 1,800$!!
@@maxmaximus2608 It wasn't bad, but definitely have a much better place now.
Thanks for the video..I retired from the fire service and am about to graduate from American Military University with Exercise Science focused bachelor degree...I am pumped to help people of all ages with special fitness needs or goals they want to achieve..I have personal trained for over 6 years and I can't think of anything I like more
Thanks man! Very informative.
You're welcome Matthew!
Thanks !
28 credits from having a bachelors in teaching health and physical education but with all of the news on teachers quitting and why they are; it’s pretty alarming to proceed in the field. I only have my clinical’s and student teaching left. I have an associates in health and exercise as well as a minor in psychology of exercise science. Im curious if I should begin to transition to a b.s. in Health and Exercise since it is growing. (I’m located in New Jersey)
If you're interested in helping people in the field of Human Performance, licensed clinical social workers are in high demand. There are cognitive performance specialist with the military, social workers with the veterans affairs to help veterans, and these jobs are in high demand! I love exercise science, but this field can be competitive. I would explore the social worker realm, you'll probably never be without a job, and can work your way into a very cool job, if you stay engaged. Exercise science in the strength and conditioning side is also growing. You can't go wrong with either, as long as you have a proper plan, and know what direction you'd like to go towards. I would agree that teaching is not the most lucrative field.
I have done my Bachelor's in Doctor of physical therapy... In future i wanted to get Master in Sports and exercise psychology... Guide me.

Does the NSCA CPT cover much about nutrition?
I believe a small section does, but nothing too extensive.

can I ask you, all of those assessment calculations, is it mandatory to memorise all of them and to know how to calculate? it is very hard to understan just by reading the book
I don't remember a lot of calculations on the exam. There may be a couple that should be memorized, but it was too long ago for me to remember which.
Kinesiology considered an exercise science degree?
I would say that it falls closely related, but usually kinesiology is focused on the science of movement/biomechanics and surface level ex physiology, while ex science is more focused on the performance aspects.
Just gave the video a thumbs up, gunna subscribe, too. Oh yeah, we're connected on Linkedin, so I was surprised to land on your video. I was like "ariel hernandez. That name is familiar."
Thanks brotha! Lemme know if there's any topics you'd like for me to cover.. I haven't made a video in a while due to a lot of things on my plate, but I'm open to ideas to drive more content!
Hi I'm a college freshman finishing up their first year of undergrad school. I'm thinking of changing my degree to a exercise science degree and I think going down the tactical exercise science route sounds really cool. Do you need prior military experience though?
No prior military experience needed. Just about 3-5 years of strength and conditioning experience, a degree in a related field. The earlier you can start getting that experience, the better.
i want to work with a sport team . i like to be a coach.
Don’t waste your time and money on an exercise science degree !
I'm in india ..I done btech engineering..I interested in fitness..So which path i go for master degree in fitness in USA
My doubt is that which one has more scope bpes or sports science I mean bachelor of physical education and sports or bsc sports sciences????
Hey sir I have a doubt
Can I take bsc sports science Is it having scope or will I be jobeless
Can you become a TSAC with a Kinesiology major? I’m a USAF Vet looking to pursue Kin. Is there much of a difference between Exercise Science and Kinesiology?
You can. Kinesiology is the science of movement/biomechanics, while exercise science is the understanding of exercise physiology in a practical setting. Depending on the curriculum, they can be very similar.
Appreciate the information man. Helped me out tremendously!
You're welcome :]!
To do the job that you hold now have you need to be part of the military? and what is your other channel?
No you don't have to. There are civilian positions. I no longer have another channel!
