Hauling hay with my Cabover Freightliner “Tropic Thunder”
I purchased one pump blew but received a new pump
Did you ever sell it? Nice work on the re-pin job!
I ended up trading it for a John Deere skid steer that was tore apart. There are videos on that machine as well.
Russian roulette seeding! I gotta try that next year
It would have worked a lot better for us last year if we hadn’t been in such a drought.
Did It work ..? I was thinking of putting some intro muy 6.2 Chevy Diesel that has bad blow by AND smoke cold
I don’t think it made a difference.
Try Valvoline Restore and Protect to get sludge out of the oil drain back holes in the pistons.
Where did you find a long block?
It came with the machine.
Do know of any videos showing how to rebuild the two steering cylinders? I’ve finally found the seal kits, just need a quick refresh on process.
No I don’t but most hydraulic cylinders are very similar.
Great job, thanks so much
Thanks for watching!
to get around having to modify the hood when installing a taller overhead valve F-134 jeep engine use a holly 1904 carburetor...it fits lower and you don't have to modify the hood.
My dad cut that hood up in the 60s or 70s I believe. That Holley carb sounds like a good idea though.
stick your finger in the puddle and have a sniff...gear oil smells much different than used motor oil.....even if you used motor oil in your transmission, the un-burned gasoline and products of combustion make the oil from the engine smell much different....also if you used the neoprene rubber seal in your rear main it will leak...the new ones do not fit properly...metalshaper here on you tube does a nice video explaining this....if you ever get around to changing it...use a rope seal.
Thank you
Thank you this was very helpful to me, as I have a model 50 too.
No problem I’m really glad I did that repair.
Great video,, very informative, interesting, and went quick for 32 minutes. My 300 just popped and quit steering with oil running out bottom of steering wheel.. I had never had one apart before either, But, I had heard stories. You made it much easier, with no blue words used or harmed in this project... Thanks :o)
Thanks !
Have a 310B with the rear hoe working and outriggers working but the front bucket hardley any response with throttle way up...any ideas anyone? Maybe both filters and screen? A lot of chatter with it prior to the very little response... maybe part in the front bucket valve assy, oring deterioration???
Filters and the screen would be a easy thing to start with then I would test hydraulic pressure at the pump and the loader valve
@@slicksiderepairllc2822Did the repair of your steering column with the new O-rings have any affect on your front loader or bucket, like faster movement and quicker response time? Or was your issue with the loader and bucket solved with the new pump? I'm wondering if you had replaced those O-rings first would your loader and bucket worked good after that and maybe the new pump was not necessary? Not sure if the bad steering parts have any affect on the boom and bucket?
@@Adirondacks4me I would fix the steering column leaks first. They will have and effect on how fast the bucket moves but I don’t know how much of an affect. It is a leak in the same system.
The work you do is cool. Please show all of the actual work and not just the before and after. We all could learn more from you if you showed all the work. Thank you sir.
Thanks for watching I’ll try to show more
Hard to find people knowledgeable on the old 450c dozers and track loaders.. I enjoyed your videos on this machine. I was wondering if you were having problems with the transmission.? I have a 72 or 73 450c Track Loader that works good for a while but after a half hour it stops moving but when I let it cool down works again for about a half hour or hour. I have changed the transmission fluid and cleaned the sump screen at the bottom and the filter by the radiator twice . I have check the pressure and it seemed like it was up there around 200 ,but I need to leave the gauge in like you did to see what happens when it gets hot. I have the manual and I think I have correctly adjusted the clutch linkage I was wondering if you had any other ideas. My temperature gauge is also broken I just put one of it and have not had a chance to check it because the machine is in Pennsylvania and I'm in North Carolina. I saw where you flushed out the transmission cooler and I was kind of thinking mine might be plugged up also but I guess I won't know until I see if the temperature rises. Just curious if you have similar problems with yours or if it's running good now since you did the flush. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Glenn
I would flush your cooler and see what happens that seemed to make the biggest difference for my machine. Thanks for watching my videos.

@@slicksiderepairllc2822 Oh yeah 💎🔥
Could you please post the name of the company in South Dakota where you got your parts?…….thanks

I keep getting conflicting answers about bleeding the hydraulic system. one tells me the air will work its way out and another tells me to bleed the air out at the pump. After reinstalling my pump, my steering did not want to work. used the bucket to lift the tires and they would turn. So there is air in the system.
You do not need to bleed the hydraulic system. Nor do you want to should be over 2000 psi in it. I would guess there is something wrong in the steering column. I replace o rings in this backhoe steering column in later videos
Question: Do you not have to bleed out the air when replacing hydraulic pump?
No
I definitely don't have a functional neutral safety switch on mine either!
Good thing to have working so you don’t accidentally start it in gear.
Any interest in selling your old seat? Mine's totally gone. I've got some pieces of kid carseat foam though!
I have traded that dozer for a John Deere skid steer. It’s in later videos
@@slicksiderepairllc2822 Roger that. Didn't know if you saved the seat you pulled off it or tossed it.
Long gone to the landfill. That seat kit was not very much money if I remember right.
any update on this ?
I need to do another on this but so far I am very pleased with it.
I enjoyed the series because I bought at auction the same swather and header. I need to replace the cables on the crisper so I really had hoped to see how to do that. LOL. Oh well.
I’m sorry I didn’t show that. It was easier than I expected. Loosen the tension bolt on the left side pull the dust cover underneath and fish the new cables on. Good luck 👍
Did you ever run into the problem with the drve belt to run the header, automatically turning on
No I haven’t. Sounds dangerous
What a great video, much appreciated! You mentioned you needed six, I thought only four were needed? What was the part number for John Deere for the 6 O-rings? In your video, you showed the top seal number appreciated very much! On mine some of the shims very thin and are beginning to tear up. I need to replace those as well, I hope I can find the part number. Looks like mine was rebuilt before because some of the shims are .010 thick in the assembly. Appreciate any comments or thoughts you might have!
Thanks. If I remember right I bought a couple extra in case I messed any up. I have no idea on the part number. I appreciate you watching.
Can you tell me what service manual you bought, I have a 310b
Best manuals to buy are used John Deere ones off of eBay don’t buy anyone’s reprints.
Where did you get the seats ?
These are made by Smittybilt and I bought them off of Amazon.
Nice job on the repair. The tappet cover on the side of the engine block could be your leak Lot of parts for those Jeeps from numerous military vendors. I always liked Ron Francis Jeep and Midwest military. I had a 52M38A1 which the CJ5 was based off of for many years. Keep plugging away. The old Jeep has come a long way! TGP
Thanks for the pointers. And I appreciate you watching!
Hi, I'm very interested in purchasing one. Can you please make a quick video going over it. How to operate it. I'm looking forward to it. I just subscribe. Thanks in advance
I will see what I can do.
Not with 2.6gpm
@@jgulley12 what did you buy ?
I bought a simpson from home depot. It's 4200 psi ,4gpm and has a honda engine. I forgot what I paid for it. It is not heated.

Im glad you left those old welds and patches in there. Its part od the history of the Jeep and the welder who patched it.😊
Looks like a blind guy welded it.
But look how far you've come.
Hey I see you are back on the Willy’s super nice work sir ! If you don’t mind me asking ? Why didn’t you make them adjustable for the room or was the original adjustable? I know there is not a lot of room and you need the space ie me too after sitting in one!!! Sorry for the long, speech statement ,question. Keep up the good work sir!!
Came down to the time frame I had to do the work. I originally planned on making at least the drivers side adjustable but didn’t have time to wait for sliders. Looking back now I would not have done it anyway. There is so little room and I’m 6’4” so as far back as possible is nice.
New SUBSCRIBER here driv,ah nice freightshaker.
Thanks for sticking around!

Great job.. and hilarious
Thank you.

Hey Buddy great video. i need to do the same to mine. where you from? would you be interested in doing my 450 c ? LOL

Wow ya that is a long ways ! There is always something to fix no matter where you live. 😂
Great job on your 333D project! Where did you find your new radiator (AT364586)?
Thank you. I bought that radiator from John Deere.
Use a hollow bit, and pull out the bit real fast when the core breaks.
Hollow bit would be nice !
Great video, got a question how do you change the belt in the video at time stamp 1.09 ? it is the right hand belt that goes around the frame piece. (And connects to a pulley on the pair of belts you are going to change. Also do you do you happen to have the belt number :) Its getting close to hay time. Thanks Tom
I believe it is called the (clutching belt)
Pull the belt coming off the engine first because it will be in the way of removing the other belt. Then you can remove that bar that goes from side to side of the cab. Last your belt can be removed. Part number 7855331 according to my book.
@@slicksiderepairllc2822 thank you and much appreciated.
Do you happen to have the part numbers for the clam shell and rubber pin bushings and pump ?
Sorry I don’t have those anymore.
I have the exact same Tractor but the pump is a lot larger than yours. Mine don't have a backhoe on it. My problem is I have no brakes. Of course their wet brakes, everything else works good. Any suggestions on troubleshooting the brakes?
One of my videos on that backhoe covers me fixing the brakes. Mine turned out to be a ball that fell out of the master cylinder casing between it and the transmission housing.
Nice! We are hoping to get ours in this weekend.
Good deal!
