    I think what gets me more is when in movies they have humans confidently squaring up to dinosaurs when we know damn well instinctively we'd either run or more likely freeze in place in fear- this isn't an insult but reality our survival instincts any rational thought would be thrown right outta the window 🤷🏻‍♀️ If it was a smaller animal we stood a chance against sure but a multiple ton, meters tall, meters long, and full of teeth predator (even worse if it's a t. rex who was really intelligent, had the strongest bite force of any land animal who's ever lived, the best sight of any land animal that's ever lived, great sense of smell, etc) we'd have no chance in hell in fact even a big group of humans wouldn't stand a chance on our own we're weak it's only our inventions that do things 🤷🏻‍♀️ But at the end of the day it's just entertainment not factual and especially Jurassic Park (1993) at the time they based it on their current knowledge and introduced A LOT of people to their life long passion of dinosaurs (myself included) the only problem is if it claims to be accurate/is a documentary but if not I don't see a problem with it but not gonna lie i'd love to see a more accurate dinosaur movie and not just dinosaurs but human behavior too 🤔

    Will it remove the need for libraries? Yes- Will it take the place of sound designers? No, there's a lot more going on than simply "click and generate". So what will happen? Sound designers will use their usual skills, plus they will be able to generate stuff with AI instead of simply scraping sample libraries. All the editing, the mixing, the layering, the taste in putting together sounds that work with each other, will be done by them, because they know how to do it right.

    • @cactuzzsound
      @cactuzzsound 2 месяца назад

      And that’s the vision I like and hoping for. But maybe with libraries still being alive :)

      @ChristianIce 2 месяца назад

      @@cactuzzsound There will be space for libraries as long as "abstract" is what you need... yet again, if that's your gig, you are probably doing that for a specific project where personality can shine. Doing something really specific and then trying to sell it for generic products doesn't really work together, I think.

    drum machines didn't replace drummers. synthesizers didn't replace orchestras. But both can make perfect amazing sounding replicas. Like the image generators I expect music and sound generators to just give people another option but not to be the only, or even the best choice for most people looking for art for their game, movie, tv show, channel, etc

    Regardless of your stance on AI in the entertainment industry, I think videos like this are SUPER important in regards to where we are technology wise and the potential job security risks it could present. I'm not saying it will replace us but I'm also not saying that it won't. As Cactuzz mentioned, only time will tell. So I think it's good to at least be informed. Personally, I think AI can have a place in your toolbox but I agree that these sounds are not production ready. The human element of mixing/blending layers and applying post-processing effects like reverbs/EQ/gain matching/etc is still a must at this stage. You can't build a house with only a hammer.

  • @vidworxsfx

    Great Vid as always, however I knew right away that was AI reading the copy as it sounded nothing like your voice LOL ...The quality of the AI Based SFX does not sound that great in my opin so I agree no comparison, sounds lack depth to my ears. I do not see this as replacing real sound design. As well it should not. Plus my question is while they list there training on SFX from ShutterStock artist had to create whats offered on that platform, so do the individual artists that contributed to the platform get paid on SFX that this AI is training on? I ask this as the 2 Biggest music AI platforms UDIO and Suno are currency being sued by the 3 Largest record companies for possible copyright infringement so how is this any different? Lets say they decide to train their AI on Pond5 where I have a bunch of my on SFX who's to stop them from training on my SFX as well as others who never gave permission to do this without compensation. This is why I see AI as a big problem till much is ironed out.

    Thanks, seems a good kit. I have one on backorder. Agree an XLR phantom powered transmitter would be a good option as would a 4 channel receiver for more complex setups. But, I also have a Sony uhf dual channel kit with separate XLR plug-on for boomed mikes etc and a triple Deity TC-1 kit, so I think I should be able to cover most 'non Hollywood' type situations I'm likely to encounter. I know this was a first impression review with a loaner for an audio review, but it would look better (ie slicker) if talking head shots (eg in car) weren't mainly silhouettes. I'd encourage you to look at a small fill. A simple tiny SmallRig LED fill costing sub $40, whilst by no means perfect, could enhance the end look and raise your production value. OK I realise this was a sound kit review. 😊

    Adding my 2 cents! Have owned a couple 416s for years. Have used them in countless shortfilms, doc gigs, feature films, foley. I've been to the desert, ultra humid jungle, high mountain weather and freezing point so at this point my ears pretty much recognize the 416 sound. It's pretty obvious when dealing with Schoeps or Neumann direct sound while in post production. I bought a 2017 in Brussels about 3 months ago. I received it and brought it with me to a documentary film gig a couple days later. First thing I noticed was it's weight. My shoulders really enjoyed using it inside a Cinela COSI19. Literally no handling noise at all. Not exaggerating. The moment I started listening through it the difference between 416 and 2017 seemed pretty obvious to me. The DPA had a MUCH more natural tone and detail. The off axis coloration makes you... I don't know how to explain it, but it makes you Boom differently so to speak. I recorded both outdoors wide frames and indoors and semi indoors. 2017 worked just fine funny thing is I also shot with a 416. Overall I felt the 416 a bit too emphasized, the S sounds felt a bit harsh compared to the 2017. Really enjoyed doing dialog editing with the 2017 material. That being said the 416 does reject a bit more noise thus feeling a bit more reachy.

    • @cactuzzsound
      @cactuzzsound 5 месяцев назад

      Thank you so much for your deep insights! We are still doing everything on 416, but 2017 is on our shopping list along with some nice mount :)

    • @sebastianFZE
      @sebastianFZE 4 месяца назад

      What would you say is a better on camera mic for documentary? I'm afraid that the DPA just doesn't have the same rejection and isolation as the 416, seen as it is a lot smaller.

    • @cactuzzsound
      @cactuzzsound 4 месяца назад

      I’d give the 2017 a shot, because of the weight and size. I wouldn’t bother about it’s noise rejection, 2017 seems just to be more comfortable in run and gun situations you can have during documentary shoot.

    • @sojournerfornow
      @sojournerfornow 3 месяца назад

      The 416 was intentionally designed for flexibility with the MZW415... with that in place, response becomes pretty much neutral so you have your choice in the field. And of course, in post it can all be dealt with. Your observations about increased reach are important.

      You mean noise gate? Depends how noisy is your input. Anyway maybe streaming software can provide gate as an insert plugin.

    Love this!, I always wanted to make a horror survival Dino game with more scientifically accurate dino sounds, I think they sound much scarier. There is channel called Studio that has recreated Dinosaur vocalizations that I feel are great references.
