Versys DRL Mod
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.6 лет назад
Modified the stock Versys 650 electrical circuit to support a separate LED D(aytime) R(unning) L(ights) Primary motivation for doing this was to prevent premature failure of the low beam bulb which otherwise acts as a DRL. Another benefit is that here in India DRL's are only now becoming a mandatory feature. So everytime I take my Versys out for a trip every second person points out that my hea...

super! I would remove that charcoal canister.
You are correct sir. that the Water proof case is so important not only to protect it from water but also to protect lense as well. with continuous power source for continuous recording setup
How good is 300V compared to 7100 which Kawasaki uses?
honestly... no clue. imo beyond a basic decent level all engine oils are pretty good and the difference negligible as far as my usage is concerned. Changing oil regularly is probably more important in the long run.
Thanks for this video. I finally had chance to get known allocation of the plug for accessory relay. I spent long time searching for it in Kawasaki Service Manual without result. If you buy an original OMRON relay in Kawasaki shop you can find detailed description where to find an how to install the relay. But without this video I would not find it. Thanks again :-)
I did this for a year, 18,500 miles. Worked amazingly. I used Otterbox with the belt clip. Some holes drilled in the belt clip. Well, last night I lost my iPhone X on the freeway. Helmet Bluetooth be like “mobile phone 1 disconnected”. 😰 I’m posting this from a new iPhone 12 amd waiting for my $130 rokform mount and case to arrive. I’m sure it was my fault it fell, for not remembering to snap it in or something, can’t be sure.
all good things come to an end... paves the way for new good things!! :-)
You can always use a Ziplock bag for all the Knick knacks, and push it in through the zipper in the back. But you’re right. It would be helpful if they provide a mesh pouch of sorts.
the new version has the back zipper now... it is super convenient. hopefully soft mesh bag as well in the next version
Can we use a relay with no diode?
Sure, if the relay is such that the switch inside gets activated regardless of the polarity of the control/switch current then it will work as well
Excellent instructions with tips and tricks. Thank you.
Hi, thanks for your video. The tank must be completely empty before disconnect it from the fuel line or is not needed to empty it. Thank you.
not needed. fuel will not leak, only whatever is in the pipe section
bravo! bel lavoro
thanks
Your idea is approved 😊
Thats an epic idea
WOW, this is the best explanation on the internet + awesome pro video, THANKS A LOT!!! You deserve a diploma :D
From safety point of view , it is best using the headlight , the beam spread will make car drivers more alert of your arrival because of the throw, if your LED beam can mimic the throw of a headlight than it's good . This one looks more like an indicator
This was a temporary ChipOnBoard led light strip to test the concept. Replaced with a more focused led having a reflector enclosure similar to DRLs in cars. Also it is best to switch on low/high beam when there is snow/fog/rain/dust. DRLs are no substitute in such conditions ofcourse.
Very informative. Thank you for posting.
Can we take this opportunity to clean the throttle body with WD40?
Is there a WD-40 throttle body cleaner? If you mean the regular degreaser then definitely not. I use Wurth carb and injector cleaner (www.industrybuying.com/cleaners-wuerth-AU.AU.CL.597391/) but you need to reconnect the fuel line and fuel pump power, start the engine and go full throttle while you spray it into the throttle body.
Let me add that if you are going to disassemble and remove the throttle body then cleaning with wd-40 should not be a problem, but while its on the engine block I am not sure if letting wd-40 enter the cylinder and fuel injector head is a good idea.
Any way to extend the tube? With the current setup to IV bottle and fuel the bike? The tank can stay where it is...
There is a 3M throttle body cleaner. But not sure if it can be used to clean while it's on the engine block.
@@MaheshKrishnav ruclips.net/video/mvUN8sTlPC4/видео.html Yeah its not meant to be used while the throttle body is on the engine block.
Nice video, clear instructions, well done! (just keep the background music at a lower volume).
Tx!! Yeah, was not very fluent with video production then... Learning :-)
Thanks for your video, It was so helpful and finally I could install a relay in the same way that you do, because the original it is so expensive. Regards from Argentina!
Gracias Marcelo!! I am really glad it was helpful :-)

Thats my village Bro 👍👌👌
This is the correct answer for what I am looking for! Thanks man! Waiting for your next video for details.
you could show us step by step on how you did it.
Do you mean real time soldering and prep footage? Its very tedious viewing and no fun to either watch or edit ;-) However I essentially did the following: - Remove battery & sd card - Open up the casing - (ruclips.net/video/uFARw2gj7oU/видео.html) - Carefully remove lcd screen and ribbon cable connecting it to the mainboard - Remove the top button module and remote control module ribbon cable - Extract the mainboard out by removing the screws that attach the lens to the mainboard - Desolder the mic and speaker - Route 4 wires from a cat5 cable via the plastic casing small grill at the bottom and solder them to the mic and speaker points - Put everything back and close casing Preparing the super small usb power connector was a bit tricky but I basically cut out one from an existing usb cable and slid out the internal plastic holder with the actual usb pins. I then sanded the outer metal shield till it was small enough to sit slightly proud when inserted into the camera. Also cut the plastic slider with the pin connections to size match the outer metal shield and solder the leftmost and rightmost pins to two wires from the cat5 cable to supply power. Since I made this video I ended up gutting this camera in an accident and plan to do it again on my replacement camera. However since I am not actually making any vlogs I haven't got around to doing it yet. If I do I will make some more detailed videos.
yes i mean soldering and all. i dont watch videos for fun. i watch to learn. i have 2 of these m20 cameras and i want to use a external mic. so if you will revisit this hack and do a video on the hole process. would be great.
Your micro USB connector is shorter than normal, where to find that short one ?
Nguyen Tu Anh , i cut one out of a usb cable and then sanded it down to a very short profile. It took a bit of effort and trial and error.
How long do you use your cam using external power? We have the same cam. I'm using mine in my motorcycle for about an hour and it gets warm. If I use it on my car and connected tot he cigarette socket, it gets warmer. Do you have the same problem?
Allen Mongado i keep it on all the time... a but of warming up is expected but the waterproof casing does lead to more heating. i have never had any issues with overheating but never really used it in peak summer yet... i mostly ride at night in the summers to beat the heat
enRAGEd I usually use it on mornings and evenings. 5days a week. I just don't want it to be that warm everytime I use it.
So, do we need add a cooling system on waterproof case? Attach a piece of cooling pad same as between CPU & CPU cooler of PC or copper pad on the chip set cover. Bring out a copper wire, connect to small cooler under the case...
Thanks for sharing. . Really appreciate
Thanks for the vídeo, good ideas and tips
Vicente Motociclista thanks :-)
Can u teach how to open M20 casing ?
ruclips.net/video/uFARw2gj7oU/видео.html
enRAGEd : thank you sir...
With external power, you could also use this setup like a "dash" cam.. Always good to have video evidence
Absolutely. Once when I had to travel for an extended period I actually setup the m20 in my car hooked up to a usb charger connected to a fully charged small 2-wheeler battery and left it on motion detect mode and it worked perfectly well as a temporary security camera!!
Nice riding skills man! Smooth AF through traffic
tx Amogh :-)
How to clutchless downshift?? Please make a video on that.
Suraj Kumar, I learnt clutchless shifting over time mostly by first understanding the theory and then lots and lots of practice. I must warn you that initially you will be screwing up the shifts that will result in rattling/false neutrals/rev jumping/wheel slipping. I still screw up once in a while if I am not paying attention. So remember its entirely your responsibility how safely you acquire this skill. This is imo a good video showing the basics very well - ruclips.net/video/8DZnZRRHCNc/видео.html Most others involve slight clutching to slip the gear and i prefer not to use clutch at all. Also note i use the clutch to shift from 2->1 since I am unable to reliably shift down clutchless on my duke 390 from 2->1 So you will need to spend enough time and practice till you get it right for your bike... all the best! and ride safe!!
enRAGEd thank you for replying, it will be a awesome skill to acquire
Hey... your comment on my channel somehow got into spam and wasnt able to see that. Anyway..the above work is really great. Have u created a video about the entire modification that needs to be done?? this is absolute great work. cheers mate!

Your review is technicaly good n very impt. things, hope i will adjust my chin mount for my bullet Electra. nice video 👌
Confused with the links....i hav bought the extra links.....but could u show the joining of each and evry link....having trouble doing a chin mount
rshnvid I have added a photo at the end of the video showing the breakup of the links... you can arrange the links exactly as I have shown in the photo and link them up leaving them a little loose. Then clip it onto the helmet mount and twist appropriately to get the correct orientation for your helmet and tighten the links up. Hope this helps.
+sonytony18 i forgot to inform u that i figured it out the same day.....however i would thank u for ur reply on this....sorry for the trouble....thanx again..✌️️🙂
good explanation bro!!!
Great clip, you have given me superb idea to install this on the helmet. I am just going to use the available items. Thanks a lot.
i mounted it the same way but the difference is, i used the rotational snap on. it's best to put that for any type of helmet shape. just easier to get the camera horizontal.
SHAUN ROBERTS, I had considered doing the exact same thing... the only reason i did not was in my head the mount point would be contending with multiple forces - snap on/off & rotational adjustment. i just wasnt sure if the 3M tape would be strong enough but it definitely is... :-)
as long as you use the same surface mount. in my case it was the rounded 3m mount. it's pretty strong.
also raised the camera level high enough that i can peek at the lcd screen to see if whatever it's doing. convenient when operating without remote or phone.
Can you just share some link from were you bought the extra mount as you mentioned. I to own a M20 try get an idea of chin mount
parasu kannan i picked up motostore.co/featured/17114-sjcam-accessories-replacement-kit.html for extra links.
nice video bro!! can gopro mounts be used on M20?
Thanks :-) I have never owned a GoPro so can't say for sure... the clips from one may not mate with the clip base of the other but you can always swap them using the thumb screws. I believe the screws and the locking fingers are completely compatible.
Very unfortunate. I don't see any update on JC moto website, they continue to sell the same product. I checked the Internet, most of the frame sliders except the Powerparts use the same mounting point.
+Anwar Hussain Yup... the flaw in choosing an inappropriate mount point is not unique to jcmoto. All frame sliders using them will not provide decent protection in the eventuality of a lowside crash. I have temporarily fixed it by inserting a strong steel bar cut to size with holes at the right points to connect the weaker mount points to the stronger central lug and its holding pretty well.
