Part of our Grow Along series where I show you what to do in your garden each week. This week I show you bed by bed what to plant now, taking into account companion planting and crop rotation. I'm quite late getting this out. I filmed it several times and the camera would overheat and the video would be corrupted. I like this style video . I especially like that it helps you with your time. Editing can be a time black hole! Love the new kitty! Ordered some nigella yesterday. Excited to have more blue in the garden. Thanks for sharing ! ❤
Thank you! It saves me about 20-40 hours in editing. So I'm trying to go much simpler in my approach.

Love the mushrooms! 🍄 (HATE the spiders 🤢😂)
I used to be TERRIFIED of spiders, but TX has taught me the true enemy is SNAKES!!
Will enjoy seeing those pretties bloom in the spring!
@@debbiefetner I'm definitely looking forward to that too!
its late in the season for tomatoes, even if they produce it probably wont be very much. Id say get an early start on the peas!
Sounds like a good idea. Appreciate you helping me make up my mind.
u have been very diligent with ur gardening in Waco, Tx. I live in NE Texas & am trying to get back in the habit of diligently gardening after taking quite a life hiatus from gardening. I have been doing gardening in many big container gardens, tubs, etc. to keep out the mice/rats/rabbits. i had a big inground garden several years ago with lots of flowers, herbs, vegies, but my health, & squirrels, rabbits, field rats even armadillos & raccoons got into my garden an dug & ate up different plants. So this year has been successful with big containers, tubs. I am trying to get into planting many more flower & herb varieties around my garden area. Its all about making new habits & getting established in them. Anyways ur flowering plants look beautiful.
Thank you! You're right on the money about building small everyday habits. I get quite grumpy if I got get to at least walk in the garden every day. These shorter days make it more challenging since I have a day joy. Appreciate your kind words about the flowering plants.
cut ur losses on the tomatoes & tamas & put peas ☺️
Thats where I'm leaning! Appreciate the encouragement!
Thanks for sharing lots of good info and your time to create these helpful videos! ❤
Thank you! You are always so encouraging. Appreciate you!
So helpful!
Thank you! I appreciate it :D
Nice video. Thanks for the tips. Your basil plant looks gorgeous. I hope to keep mine alive at least until it's big enough to take some cuttings!
Thank you! I really love herbs. :D
Thanks! I learned something new today.
I'm so glad! My plant started from grocery store basil. IT's always so amazing to see everything come to life.
I love the idea of giving herb gardens as gifts! ❤
Thank you! It will be my first year doing it but I have high hopes :D
Great idea as Christmas gifts! ❤
Thank you! It's something I would love to receive and it is a labor of love.
I always learn so much from your videos. Thank you for informing us regarding seed saving. Now I know what I have been doing incorrectly. Thanks!
Thank you! I always enjoy seeing you. I hope you are doing well :D
No need to waste gardening time editing!!! Your video was great! Bless you for rescuing Purty! ❤
Poor thing! :( I hope you find her a home soon!
Oh my goodness your puppy is so wonderful. How fortunate for her that you saved her. A garden play ground all to her self. She must think she is in heaven. Best wishes for your lovely garden and sweet foster puppy.
She's really perking up and is just the sweetest! We're all praying that we get her a good forever home.
Your foster pup is cute and looks like she just had babies. I definitely need to get outside and start planting.
ME too! The weeds are eating me alive!
❤ I love to see things I can adapt to my zone! 😊
Haha, double sowing is a mistake I’ve made too. Your posts are always so intelligent and well put together. I enjoy learning with you!
Thank you so much! I'm trying to create a library of videos that would have helped me when I first moved to TX. I'm SUPER excited to grow my own bluebonnets :D
So rewarding after all your hard work! 👍🏻❤️
Thank you! Appreciate your encouragement :D
You're magical!
Thank you!
Wonderful tribute to your Grandpa Skinner. Glad you were able to visit Grandma Skinner and family in NC.
I'm grateful my boss is so supportive and told me to drop everything and go. Hugging Grandma was the best!
So sorry for your loss. It’s hard no matter how old they are. Your grandmother has a beautiful backyard!
Thank you! It's strange to realize he's gone. Getting to visit with family was so nice. Grandma's backyard is so peaceful! Deftinietly a lovely place to visit.
I loved the grandpa memories... why did I cry?!!
We all love our grandpas! It was so nice to vest to visit with Grandma and the extended family. I really loved the quality time I got to spend with my sister and mom. We need a girls trip!
Love your videos, Michelle!
Thank you so much! It's a labor of love for sure.
So informative and impressive! Beautiful footage at the end!
Thank you! It's my favorite "art shots" from the week. Just a fun way for me to show what stage everything is at. I think we're in the same FB group and I love seeing your flowers. I love making new garden friends.
Yes, we are! Super fun.
Great vid!!! I am in Waco as well. I would LOVE to know how to grow potatoes. I have tried them in the ground, raised beds and cardboard boxes with zero luck. Everything else........no issues!
When did you start them? Timming is the hardest part here in TX. In late december/early Jan it's time to Chit your potatoes, which means pre-sprout. I plant in ground Feb 14th and jarvest end of may early June. I haven't found any at garden centers for a fall planting, so I'm grabbing some organic ones from the store, I'll give them a rinse to wash off any chemicals and put them in a cool bright space to presprout.
Here because I'm about to cantaloupe for the very first time. Well done
What do you suggest as soil for the seedlings?
I use a standard potting soil that I sift through a 1/4" hardware cloth, the main thing is no big chuncks. Big chunks of bark can keep seeds from being able to push up and germinate :D Great question. I didn't know there were different kinds of soil for my first few years, so you're well above the curve.
Your patented scribble scrabble method is awesome lol Have you ever harvested bananas from your tree? I need to figure out where I can put starts at home for fall plants.
Thank you! I haven't harvested bananas. This fall I'll be potting up some of the pups in hopes to get some bananas next year. The tree has the be actively growing for 12-18 months, which means bringing it in over the winter OR building it a greenhouse. Bringing it in seems easier :D What variety are you looking at? (I don't know my variety)
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us. I especially enjoyed the "walk" through your garden with the labels of each plant and the relaxing music. I plan to watch that part again as a relaxation exercise. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! It's my favorite bit too :D
I get teased for killing all my plants. I threw zinnia seeds out and they are gorgeous!
I love them too! They pop up all over my garden. I try and let them grow where they want unless it's in the path. Glad they worked for you!
I love the table in the bottom of the cup idea!
I’m so sorry!
It's life :D
😂😅 It's a Trap!
IT really is! Thanks for laughing with me :D
You are SO knowledgeable and your teaching background definitely shows. You are amazing ❤
The creeping cucumber looks amazing on the trellis ❤
Thank you! I am so happy to see the arches start to get covered. I dream of grapes hanging down and grabbing them to just enjoy :D
Im curious about your artichokes. Have you ever harvested any? How old are yours? Are they plentiful? I have three I was able to start from seed. I had poor germination this spring. Globe star maybe are the variety. Finally looking robust enough to plant out this fall.
YES! They grew well and I got a lot for my first year. I started them from starts last spring(atwoods) , kept them well watered and shaded through the summer and they produced this spring. Here's a small video of me harvesting them. ruclips.net/video/NCAYdznNF-c/видео.html
The Milwaukee portable shop vac is awesome.cordeless and light weight

Organishield for the win
I've never used it. Does it work well for you?
@@learningwithmichelle1908 yes. Kills everything including blight molds and mildew. Something to do with emulsifying the outer layer of the insects skin and drying them out from the inside. We grow USDA certified berries on our farm and this product has saved us so much and made us a lot on returns. It's hard to find something to stay in compliance with Cal org and USDA. Really cool advancement in ag.
We got hit last week (not directly) by a tornado and so I’m just waiting patiently to see if my tomatoes can recover. Doesn’t look like my fennel will. I had got a verbena from you and it was flowering beautifully and it’s no where to be seen. My chamomile is just starting to bud ❤️❤️ I did get a load of mulch delivered via chip drop. Looking forward to your next video as to see what you plant.
I'm sorry to hear you got hit by these storms. I'll be rooting more verbena this fall and I'd be happy to give you anouther few to replace your lost ones. I'll probably have some early Oct. Appreciate your support! I'm filming today and hope to have my next video up in a few days. Fingers cross!
Love it, thanks for the information! I guess it's time for me to get mulching! lol
Im seeing a ghost buster style shop vac in your future 😅
Now that's an idea!
I searched for free mulch in my area. I found a group that will deliver, for Free! In my area it's called chip drop. Good luck to all the gardeners!
Chip drop is a great option!
Yikes so much water for you. We have had some but not like you guys. Your garden is still so lovely. I am dealing with what I think is bacterial wilt in my soil. Losing tomatoes fast! I would love to know how you manage this if you have experienced it. Also, what do you do for fire ants? I have started topping a hill with a rival hill and it seems to help but we have a lot. Thoughts maybe?
For bacterial or fungal problems here are the steps I take. 1) stake up tomato plant. Most of the diseases come from the soil. 2) MULCH! thick mulch keeps the soil from splashing up on the plant which can spread the diseases. 3) Trim lower leaves AND any effected leaves. For Fireants treat with any organic solution that has "spinosad" as the active ingredient. This is safe for food gardens so it's what I use. I hope this helps!
@@learningwithmichelle1908 The entire plant goes from green and upright to wilted overnight. It has happened to 50% of my plants in one row and starting in another row. I removed plant, root and all, and discarded the entire plant as I had seen in other videos. Such a big loss.
@@jessiebabineaux9297 I'm so sorry! I don't know what would cause that! So heartbreaking to do all the work and lose it!.
Finally someone in 8b 😭😭😭 your garden is beautiful, thanks for the tips -a new gardener
I'm glad to help! Feel free to ask questions. Questions help me know what to include in future videos. Welcome to the garden!
Great video!
Thank you!
Your lakeside garden is beautiful!
Thank you! It's gotten hot all of the sudden so it's more of a swamp right now, but it still brings me joy :D
