I left Scotland when I was 28 for Germany and never returned. I’m 56 now. You should consider Germany. It’s gone downhill but it’s still better than the uk for quality of life. If you learn German you could do an apprenticeship here. They have an apprenticeship for everything.

I feel you, if I wasn't so tied up in legal issues from a bunch of jealous ass haters I would have been out for good a couple of years ago. I was away the whole of 21 and 22 and only had to come back to the UK in 2023 because of external issues...Went to Germany, Switzerland, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Oman, Doha, Hungary, Spain ...by far the best place I could see for myself and to build a family is Qatar. I have tonnes of family throughout the Middle East as I am half Arab but ultimately none of those countries are democracies, there is no freedom of speech, no real freedom of expression..they are sheikhdoms basically and everyone is an expat. I went home to Austria and stayed there for a year, Austria is truly beautiful and a good option..just not sure if I would want to actually raise a family there. Spain and Portugal are also stunning and placed that everyone wants to go for Yoga Retreats. I used to think the UK is a good place to settle and have a child but everything from 2020 until now has made me revise my thoughts. I actually love Switzerland and think its stunning as well.

I wanted to come here to Italy in my teens. I started learning Italian. I finished my education, started doing secretarial work in London and after five years I got myself a job here. This was 55 years ago. Thank goodness I did. The places you are going to are on the up, so probably in a few years time they will be absorbed into the EU. Brexit has ruined everything. Well done and jolly good luck to you. If people had not voted for Brexit you would have had far fewer problems now. With Brexit things are even more difficult than when I left in 1970. However, I acquired Italian citizenship on marriage and I no longer have immediate family in the UK so Brexit has not really hit me practically but emotionally greatly. Your main problems, I feel will be language and burocracy.

I emigrated from the USA to the UK back in ’98 and became a naturalised UK citizen in 2004. I only visit the USA every few years now. Each time I do, I see more businesses and houses boarded up and Americans looking shabbier and, of course, fatter. Americans like to think that they live in the best country in the world when in fact they live in one of the worst countries in the world: lousy healthcare system, low pay, virtually no employee benefits, etc.. America, love it or leave it! I left it!

I am slightly confused, you said you are in a lot of debt but you are single without children and had a job earning above average wages. How did you get into debt? Afe you fleeing from debt collectors? And how in that case you say you have a buffer of savings to set up a business in North Macedonia? This is all sounding a little suspicious to be fair.

I'm from Ireland, but I left in 2009 for financial reasons during the recession and moved to Asia. At the time I had a RUclips channel (doesn't exist any more) and I made a video EXACTLY like this one explaining why I was leaving, right down to the walk through the grey, slightly depressing, winter setting in rural Ireland! Anyway long story short at the time it was daunting, but as of now I've never moved back. Best decision I ever made considering the cost of living crisis and house prices in the west. It seems even worse now than it was then! And there are a world of opportunities out there.

To any young people watching: Europe is GONE! Central europe may be to spare, but only livable for the real locals. If I was in my 20's I would 100% look at Asia right now. If you have ancestry or roots in any Asian country, it's the perfect time to reconnect: Vietnam is crazy vibrant, Japan appealing as ever, China is such a lively place, Hong Kong is electric, Taiwan is an Oasis... give it a go. And yes, I also plan to send my own kids there 😉

I’m 47. I left the UK when I was 23. At that time people talked about 30.000 per year in the same way you do. 30,000 per year is not good. The UK hasn’t progressed since I’ve left. Indeed, it’s gotten worse. The politicians have, for some strange reasons, turned the whole country into something third world. An unliveable place full of low wages, violence, and barber shops.
