    Nice video, as always. One comment, at 4:07 after a4 of whites, I like to play a5, preventing all counterplay on the Queen side, and obly then start with the rook lift to f6. Just and idea

    Impressive examples! I'm pretty sure we can use these nasty tricks in some of our games, too! Thanks!! I play myself the Ponizani opening (at 9:14) many times in my games and this pawn promotion occurs quite often after the blunder 6...d6 (very common in beginers and intermediate players). There's also an iteresting pawn promotion in another line of the Ponziani with: 8...dxe5 (instead of 8...Qb6) 9.Nxb7+ Bd7 10.Qxd7+ Qxd7 11.bxa8=Q+ Nc8 12.Qxc8+Ke7 (the black queen is pinned by the bishop on b5) 13.Qxd7 gaining the black queen and the game.

    I usually prefer to play 4.Ne2 instead of Nf3, so as not to block the posibility of playing f4-f5 in the future. Also, from e2, the knight can jump later to g3, opening the diagonal d1-h5 for the queen. If we play the right moves, we have both bishops pointing to the black short castle, the queen can go to h5 or g4 so we have a strong attack on the king side. However, I see in lichess that 4.Ne2 is very rarely played but I don't see anything bad with this move. What do you think about the idea of 4.Ne2? Also, instead of 6.O-O, what do you think about the move 6.a3? With this we avoid the line 6...cxd4 7.cxd4 Nb4 attacking our bishop on d3 (Perdona si mis comentarios se hacen muy pesados, pero rara vez encuentro alguien con quien poder discutir esta linea con 3.Ad3 contra la francesa)

    You might wonder why weaker players worry about things like this. It's because we don't spend much time playing in tournaments where your opponent is random. Instead we play our friends, the same players week after week, month after month. If you play something and it works then next week or next month they'll have looked it up in a book. If there is a gap in your knowledge like this, then that's what you'll get in every game from then on till you die of old age or till you find something better to play, because almost all your opponents are either the guys you normally play or else guys who sometimes look over to see what's happening on other boards including yours.

    Hello ! Hola ! I'm rated 1800 / 1900 in rapid games on lichess. I find your video absolutely excellent. Thank you for the great review, and ideas ! I play the King's Indian Defense against 1.d4 too. Sometimes I get overwhelmed. As my rating goes up, white makes less and less noticeable mistakes (to my eyes), and I need to have clear ideas about key strategies. About you speaking english, I think it is great. I am french, and I can somewhat understand spanish, but not in the details. It is a great help. Me, I make chess videos in french ( I comment my games ), because I want more content in my mother tongue on youtube. However, you are a GM, so it should be normal to seek a broader public than poor little me. I understand both stances. Quisiera decirle "muchas gracias". Matthieu Oh, I almost forgot : do you also play the pirc ? ( I played it, but got discouraged by early f4, so I switched back to Caro Kann - and then got it by early f4 too ! Jajaja ).

    • @GMJoseGonzalez
      @GMJoseGonzalez 2 месяца назад

      Hello Matthieu! Thank you for your kind words! I'm glad you found the video helpful. The King's Indian Defense can indeed be challenging, especially as you face stronger opponents. It's important to have a good understanding of key strategic ideas and typical plans in various positions to navigate through the complexities. Regarding your comment about languages, I appreciate your understanding. It's great that you're contributing to the chess community with French content. The more diverse the content, the better for everyone. To answer your question, no, as far as I remember I haven't played the Pirc Defense ever. I guess I was also frightened by the f4 lines, but I'm not sure. I think it's a great defense and that gives good fighting options. I have played the Caro-Kann and I consider it a great choice; it can be rather frustrating for 1.e4 players. If it wasn't for 3.e5, I would still play it. Thank you again for your message and support. Keep up the good work with your videos, and good luck with your games! Best regards,
