How To Add Refrigerant With Gauges (DIY A/C Recharge)
Просмотров 6 тыс.Месяц назад
In this video, I'm adding R134a refrigerant to my 2015 Chevrolet Silverado. I know this truck has a small leak, so I'm adding refrigerant until I can fix the leak. I'm just trying to make it through the summer. The gauges I'm using are harborfreight. You can get a similar set (and probably better set) from my Amazon Affiliate link here- A/C Gauges www.amazon.com/dp/B07CZB3P4X/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_...

Unleashing the Capri Ratchet and Super Thin Wrench!
I have one also thats gotta be 30yrs old cause it was my grandpops. I love this gun and even with the big merge to electric tools, I still prefer air for many things
Yea, there are still some things I always use my pneumatic tools for
Great video, thanks!
So my question is do you think Icon and Tekton made in same place
Yea, I think for this particular ratchet, yes, I think they source from the same company. I would think a lot of the ratchets made in Taiwan come from the same place.
Great video !!
White Jose Hall Daniel Moore Steven
Tekton also sells small body 3/8 ratchets. $85 for a 3”, 6”, and 6” flex. Unfortunately they don’t offer them in comfort grip yet. You could diy it though. I did the mod on a 9”. It’s pretty sweet.
Sadly those kits are out of stock. They are probably wondering why so many have sold lately.
What is the washer for? None of mine have that.
Does this work with both the low profile & regular 1/4 drive ratchets?
Flex head is the only thing that would make ut better
Thank you!! I ordered a few repair kits. I've have a ratchet with a chipped pawl for about 15 years. 👍👍
Right on!
I have the same impact gun. i bought it 2011 when i was an apprentice..now i dont use it because i switch to cordless..its a little heavy but it gets the job done.🤙🏻
That harbor freight grease is what Snap On uses in their tools believe it or not. Same grease.
It’s called super lube you can buy it anywhere it’s used for all kinds of stuff lol it’s not harbor freight grease
@@tonydodd2428 ya I know that. It reads that it's from harbor freight not made by harbor freight. Meaning you can get it from harbor freight
Why not buy the kit and the ratchet from Tekton? That’s what I did. I like Tekton’s comfort grip ratchet’s much better than my Snap On comfort grip’s.
You definitely could. I just had these ratchets already after Harbor Freight had a big sale on them.
Personally, I just don’t like their rat hets themselves. 100% positive it’s the freakin groove they use.
i wish i had seen this before i bought the snap on version for $130, i was actually trying to look online for the icon stuff before i bought the snap on, its broken now cause they taper the anvil on the bottom so it snapped off
Dang sorry man
Got both recently
I got the smallest ratchet I found and I welded a 3/8 drive to it it's half the size of the icon 1/4 I love my ratchet had it many years and I have a 1/4 ratchet 1/2 converter I had to mill it to fit take forever to make but faster than waiting for Amazon
Right on
It may have been mentioned but Astro sells a few ratchets that are 1/4 bodies with 3/8 drive. Quality tool and no assembly required.
Can you just change the main gear? Or need to change the pawls as well
Just the main gear needs to be swapped
Nice mod👍. You shuffled everything around repeatedly like a carney with the cup game. Couldn't the ratchets just have stayed in one place on the bench? 😉😂
Gotta keep you on your toes
excelente informacion saludos
Thanks
They’ve made ratchets like that for over 20 years. I have some that’s nothing new.
Awesome!
Lol you’re a really smart man😂😂😂😂😂😂
Well that’s cool I guess I know what I’m doing today. Thanks for the tip 👍
No problem thanks for watching
I like it! Love useful mods keep up the good content
Thanks!
Thanks for posting, don't know why but I'm really enjoying these ratchet mods.
No problem, thanks for watching. I'm really enjoying them as well.
Fantastic content 👌 👏 👍
Thanks!

If it's cracking like bacon then your settings are correct. That's the motto I have for mig welding I mostly use my Primeweld Tig 225x but every so often I have something that needs to be mig welded..😊😊
Thanks for the tip! I plan on getting the tig torch and foot pedal for this machine so I can try to teach myself to tig.
@@chrisryansworkshop7519 that's how I did it I payed attention to Justin @TFS Jodi @Tips& Tricks Dusty @ Pacific Arc all of them have great information to guide you through the learning process... I taught myself how to Tig weld in 2019-2020 to teach my oldest son to be a gunsmith unfortunately covid got ahold of him we lost him on 8-25-21 didn't even het the chance to start life 21yrs old . Anyways keep practicing and your skills will improve your friends will be asking for all kinds of favors.... Lol 😂😂
I will definitely keep practicing, thanks again and I'm sorry for your loss brother.
I was hoping it would work on the non swivel head. Not into swive head rachets.
Tekton has them and a better warranty because the warranty is whoever has the tool not just the original buyer
So how hard was the removal of the pin that held the ratchet head or the 1/2" square drive? I see what looks like a lot of blue Loctite on the pin. Was it as simple as you show on the video or did you remove it first then put it back in and video it its removal for illustration purposes?
No quite sure what you're referring to. I didn't remove the head, I only swapped out the 1/4" anvil with a 3/8"
He might have had a real fun night and was stewing about the video he watched right before yours. Lol.
Chris, Yo-breathtaking !bye~
Thanks...
I've snipped the last ringlet of the spring off for the pawl engagement and it makes the backdrag just that little bit lighter and it's a dream for free tightening bolts
Nice, I might try that
Add to cart, ✔️ 😊
Wonder if it’d work on quinn
Freaking sweet!!
I'm the guy from the original post on Facebook, nice video brother. I'm glad to see this being a thing! Have a great day
Thanks for posting it. It definitely adds more functionality, at least for the things I typically do.
I’m now wondering if this is doable with the 1/4” compact stubby
Nice video! Do you know how much thickness you are shaving off by using the 1/4" body compared to the normal 3/8"?
Just measured, the normal 3/8 is 1-1/8" deep and 1-5/16" wide and the new 3/8" small body is 15/16" deep and 7/8" wide (roughly, I measured with a tape measure).
Cool video!
Thanks!
Low side need to be from 30-40 max...do not add over that...hi side from 150-170-200 max
Good stuff! I have two I'll be working on this winter. Thanks for the walkthrough.
No problem, thanks for watching
I have a Bluepoint 1/4 I've been dreading!
The way you are telling it means that there is no need for a vacuum pump.. Because I have put r134a gas in the car without a vacuum pump but cold air does not come out??.
If you're "topping off" the system, then there is no need to pull a vacuum, so there is no need for a pump. You pull a vacuum when the system is empty (like after replacing a compressor) to remove any moisture from the system. I will also have a video coming soon of this process.
But if my gas escapes through a hole, shouldn't a vacuum pump always be used?
@gb7705 Ultimately yes when you replace the part that is leaking, but if the system is holding pressure (which you would need to check with gauges) you don't need to pull a vacuum to top it off. The pressurized system, in theory, should keep out the moisture. If your system will not hold pressure (like overnight), then it will not hold a vacuum either, so you will need to find the leak and fix it. Otherwise, you're wasting your money on freon. If your system has the pressure, it's supposed to and is still not blowing cold, then you have a problem other than freon.
@@chrisryansworkshop7519 When I took it to the mechanic, he gassed it without any problem with his vacuum device,,, I don't understand why when I only gas r134a, the mammometer shows 50psi and the car still doesn't cool. This means that the compressor is very good.. I just can't find a way to fill the car with r134a gas myself without going to the mechanic
@@chrisryansworkshop7519 When I take it to the mechanic, he gasses it without a problem with his vacuum cleaner,,, I don't understand why when I only gas r134a, the gauge shows 50psi and the car still doesn't cool.
Good stuff! Where'd you get the drill from?
That one came from Home Depot 😅

Is it supposed to be doing that?
Yes, I had to burn out the old bushings to replace them
Since 2018, all cans sold in the U.S are required to have a self sealing valve, the old ones were open once pierced like you said. The two different cans require two different can taps or an adaptor.
Good to know, thanks
