please explain is DM-i similar to Toyota's hybrids? Or does it have CVT pulling belt? I don't understand
i tot it’s similar to Nissan’s E-power but add more feature (parallel mode)
DM-i is more similar to Honda's i-MMD, predominantly using ICE as a generator and electric motor for propulsion. It is essentially an EV with ICE as a generator and only occasionally as a motor. Toyota's THS is fundamentally an ICE vehicle where the electric motor primarily serves to enhance efficiency and performance.
This is a plug in hybrid, pretty much an Ev with an engine as a backup as someone mentioned earlier
This is a new equation from the BYD company. There is no Toyota patent or technology in DM-i.

The new BYD Hybrid DMi platform literally has 2300km range (under actual test drive), which makes their cars so fuel efficient that every 100km range consumes only 2 liters petrol. all byd HEVs need to be DMO tech with adding a one thing is to make the engine act as a generator only without involving in moving wheels. 1353
The fuel consumption of DM-i is only about 3~4L/100km. DMO and DM-p have stronger power, and their average fuel consumption is higher (about 6~8L/100km). Economy: DM-i > DM-p > DM-o Power: DM-o > DM-p > DM-i.
@don.timeless4993 That would be stupid. At high speed, the motor is so INEFFICIENT, but the ICE is very very efficient at high speed. Honda EHEV technology also utilize ICE at high speed cruising. But BYD DM-I is a step up from Honda EHEV in that DM-I also take advantage of excess energy from ICE, during the high speed cruising, to charge the bigger battery pack, while Honda just disregard this excess energy,, because it has tiny battery pack.
