A good review of a good guitar. But not in the running for best Chibson ever. Should do the Q-tip test in one of the cavities and see if it's really Nitro . Fingernail polish remover or acetone or lacquer thinner . It. never is Nitro . Medium sheen poly is what it will be. Knobs too high . Forehead too tall on headstock. Logo off camber . Typical P4M . Average or a little better. If you were to sand down the side to bare - the body will be 3 pieces . Worth what you paid with the discount.

I have a Grote archtop - and it's a replica of an Epiphone Century - and it's absolutely gorgeous! Grote certainly aren't ashamed to put their name on their guitars - and it's absolutely justifiable! Planning on one of their 335's sometime in the next couple of years!

Apparently a Chibson distributor was raided this weekend in L.A. County California and about 3000 new guitars have been stolen.. err I mean confiscated. See, small time Chinese business men are of no threat and an easy target. It is not like there aren't any actual high crimes and serious criminal activity going on in the US, but addressing the serious issues might actually be dangerous and helpful to the public.

I don't see the point of comparing this to an actual Gibson SJ 200. I mean, the entire comparison is based on similarities in cosmetic appearance. A fake Rolex will likely tell time, but that has nothing to do with materials that make a Rolex, how it's built, or it's value as timepiece. If you have a €500 guitar, then at least compare it to others within a similar price range, not ones that just look similar

Hi mate, I'm wondering if you can point me in the right direction of where to buy one of these bad boy 'custom' guitars? I'm a left handed acoustic player, and it's so hard to find a decent one in my price range (£500 Max) so I was thinking about taking a chance on a Chibson, so, for example, can I just e-mail the company in China a link of a £5000 left handed Gibson acoustic and then ask them to copy that exactly, or is there more to it than that? I've seen a few people say join a Facebook group but I'm not on FB, and I've heard a few others say try Ali express or DH gate, but it's a bit of a minefield knowing which manufacturer to trust and how to get the ball rolling Thanks man, any help would be appreciated, or else, it looks like it's gonna have to be a 2nd hand tanglewood for me ha ha

Chibson is bullsh-t!! it's a rip off. If they want to sell guitars label them "Chibson" Instead they want to rip people off. People who buy them and then try to pass them off as the real Gibson just so they can rip someone off for a thousand dollars. It's a cheap Chinese knock off and your bullsh-t for trying to promote them!!!

Cathy Zhong is still building guitars. Her group builds and stock builds are really quite good. Her one-off custom builds are still good, but you can tell her shop is quite busy, and the attention to detail has suffered a bit.

I just got a angus young sg thunderstruck ( chibson) junk tuners, junk wiring, junk pots and switch, and jack, however the wood is good, the frets are good no sharp edges, i put in new harness, new pkups, shielded the control cavity, graphtech bridge and tail piece and graphtech locking tuners, now i have a sweet guitar!!!! Still under 1000.00

Great overall assessments! Given that the chassis is solid mahogany, for a small investment ( pickups, full-size pots etc) you could have a stunning instrument at a fraction of the cost! it’s a shame they place the Gibson logo on them, they deserve ( imo) a brand name all of their own! Thanks for enlightening me! 😎

Great job Dave! I would advise getting yourself a gimbal for the shots where you’re moving the camera around to avoid shakiness or better yet having a few cameras with fixed shots. Keep it up. Ben 🤙

Note: Rythm= neck PU, Treble= bridge PU... 😉 Looks like you get a lot of guitar for your buck, but I'd like to know more about weight, balance, neck profile. Personally, I'd rather go the Partcaster route (I made 7), rather than becoming enslaved to the Chinese production (don't we have enough of them already...?). Depending on the parts used, I can assemble nice Teles going from 750 to 1800 $. Not necessarily cheap, but made to my specs with quality components sourced in the US/Europe. My 2¢ Cheers !

I designed this back in 2014 with Kip Elder of Starr Guitars in Orlando. They made it for me, and it ended up posted all over forums and the like. Looks like they saw it and copied it.

Lol. Not a chance. You can buy used brand names of much higher quality for less. They should be calledf 'Chumpsons' for thiose that buy them.

They should be more proud of their work and label the headstock with something other than Gibson

Not a "gold top" fan but that is very nice.

Id definitely consider a chibson before a Gibson. But i have never played a high end Gibson. Simply cant afford the overpriced things. Im sure people will get just as much enjoyment out of a chibson, probably more because they know they saved at least 1k. The bridge looks like an Epiphone probably because Epiphone sources a lot of stuff from china, as does Gibson.
