A labor of love! Saving '87 Toyota from the junkyard! Turning the $700 4Runner into a daily driver
After a long hiatus we finally come to the finished product... finished in the sense that it's not a perfect example of a classic '87 Toyota 4Runner SR5, but it is a usable and reliable daily driver. Plus, it's a very special story of my brother restoring this for his daughter. The 4Runner belonged to a family and their 3 teenagers learned to drive on it, and it shows. The car needed a lot of repairs due to some bangs, dings and dents as 3 teenagers learned to drive stick on it. My brother and I painstakingly (and a bit slowly, I might add), first focused on the mechanicals of the car. A head gasket was replaced, and suspension and fuel issues were resolved. Then the cosmetic things were ...

It's HOT! Roadtrip Hiking Valley of Fire Nevada and Zion National Park Utah in our Toyota Dolphin
Просмотров 68День назад
In the continuing series about our road trips in our Toyota Dolphin motorhome, we now take it from Las Vegas to one of the most interesting state parks in Nevada, Valley of Fire. It's called this because of the brilliant colors of the rocks, and the rock formations found there. It was in the middle of July so the summer heat was in full swing. However, the trusty Toyota has zero problems handli...

Toyota Dolphin Maiden Voyage: Sunrise in Miami and Sunset in California ON THE SAME DAY? Let's try!
Просмотров 18521 день назад
On this video I take you on the origins of how I acquired and prepared the Toyota Dolphin, and took it on a maiden voyage. No problems, just a leaking airbag which I later diagnosed and fixed, turned out to be just a loose air connection, easy fix. I also experience a sunrise in Miami and then take a flight to California where I experience the sunset on the same day. I stayed in my RV on that a...
Datsun 620 4x4 Project As A Daily Work Truck? Keeping Things Basic And Original, It's Almost Ready!

After a long absence, we're back! In this video we recap the journey our Datsun 620 4x4 Barn Find Project has taken, from finding the Datsun, to a new engine, to a first drive! The Datsun is meant to be a working daily driver, and with that in mind we are keeping things original as possible, and the updates highlight the things made to make it drivable and useable every day. This is not a show ...
Can We Make It A Daily Driver? New Engine, Fuel System, And Other Updates On Our Datsun 620 4x4

A lot of time has passed since our last update. The Datsun's been in the shop getting the new engine sorted, along with the brakes, fuel system (including refurbished fuel tank), carburetor, and other mechanicals. It's now running, shows no leaks (which had been a problem with the new engine; it had to be re-sealed on a few places), and runs like a top... kind of. It's a short overview; we keep...

In the 2 years it's been with us, we've traveled all over the Western US with it, from Yosemite, to Vegas, to Zion, to Denver, Wyoming, Yellowstone, Seattle, Mt. Rainier, and everything in between. The little RV has been reliable and along the way we have maintained it mechanically as well as cosmeti...
Toyota Hilux Overview: Forbidden Fruit In The US? Let's Look At A Truck We Can't Get But Could!

In this video I give you an overview of a very basic Toyota Hilux which can be had in many other countries... but not the US. Although it is missing some desirable (and required) safety equipment, I still think there is space in the US market for a basic but durable and reliable 4-door truck. This is it! Head gasket, entire front suspension (pitman arm, CVs, ball joints, pitman arm, etc..), shocks all around, new bumper, paint, numerous trim pieces, rear main seal, driveshaft seal, radiator, H29 pump, other mechanicals. It would show context if you watch the other two videos from this project.

    My dad built one of these when I was younger. It had a Buick v6 that ran off of gas or propane. there was a switch in the cab that you could switch to the fuel type you wanted to run. for long road trips he would run the propane and when he needed a lot of power he would switch to gasoline.

    • @fourthgear8199
      @fourthgear8199 Месяц назад

      It's just regular reflective film. The tint shop sourced it but it was nothing special. No, you can hardly tell the difference in the sunlight inside the coach, especially since there are two other overhead domes providing most of the illumination inside. It's a bit strange when you're sitting in a parking lot and people meander about not realizing someone is working inside :) :) :)

    Window tint? 3 M?

    • @fourthgear8199
      @fourthgear8199 Месяц назад

      It was just refleective film that the tint shop sourced. When you go for a tint job they give you several types and you choose the type you want. If you want premium tint they can get it for an extra charge, but this one was just one of their regular selections so no extra charge. This particular shop did auto/home, so the film may be a "home" version :) :) :).
