My local spot 😀, looks a lot different now though, 10:00 I had my biggest ever crash on that trail, literally my second day out on the new bike, locked up when braking, went straight over the top of the first berm and somersaulting over the bars

I hate where biking is going like a lot of stuff. You love the fact that people will get out if they're not feeling 100% or to fly up the hills...oh boohoohoo. I've got a rare lung disease that's mashed a big chunk of my lungs + asthma on top & I still get out & do my best to get up those hills. Not to mention the environmental impact of more batteries & all the rest of the extra materials just so we go that bit faster - why's everyone in such a f'ing rush.

Have you thought about sharing your routes in other formats like a gpx file or komoot. You have some really nice routes but a paid subscription to Strava is needed to use them.

Re blocking: the older generation of ramblers accepts horse riders because they associate them with Gentry. Cyclists are hated on the road because they are considered working class and an obstacle, and associated with nuisance causing motorcross off road esp. when jumping through the woods wearing a FF! Hence the hatred of off road cycling trails by older, typically dog walking, users. They are the trail blockers. I’m constantly clearing cheeky trails on Mendip.

Over my many years of dicking around I've broken limbs, digits, vertebrae and even my skull. But ribs hurt more than most of them. They don't get the 'glamour' of other breaks but, damn, they can hurt.

What a nice ride! And video! The bike looks to be quite similar to the Bianchi Methanol CV FS which I have, 100mm travel up front and only 40mm travel in the back. The Trek looks better though and I love the placement of the rear shock, it gives so much more space in the triangle to fit a bag for example. Lovely area, you have more hills than we do down here in the south of Sweden which is exactly why I don't go for something with more suspension.

the jacobs ladder part around 7:12 is great in the dry but 100% lethal in the wet as all those rocks are so polished from all the walkers, it slike ice in the wet

Not joking about that climb up, not gonna try that again. Webbers Post car park onto Dickies path and then up and over the west side of Dunkery is longer but a little less painfull 😆
