MIM Fender Squier Series Strat final verdict
Просмотров 2,4 тыс.Год назад
Look at the Squier Series MIM Strat after upgrades. It's my opinion that these guitars were made using Mexican bodies and necks. Fitted with import hardware and pickups.

Squier Classic Vibe Jazzmaster. Why I picked it!
Oh my goodness! That right there looks like a very unique Fender Stratocaster to me. As a longtime fan as well as a player of Fender Stratocasters, this model itself is kind of unusual for me. From what I understood at one time, the Fender company have tried their best to put Fender and Squier brands on the same boat when they were building something totally new in order to appease a lot of Fender and Squier players that loved both brands of Stratocasters at the same time and so on. Eventually, they came up with the Fender Squier Series models which was all new at one point. This is not your typical Squier or anything like that. On the ball of the headstock where it usually says "Original Contour Body" on standard models, it instead says "Squier Series" which is really unique but unusual. Basically, these Fender Squier Series Stratocasters were built in 3 different countries which included Mexico, Japan and Korea in the 1990s as far as I know. Otherwise, the Fender company had built 3 different variations of these Fender Squier Series Stratocasters in 3 different countries which is wonderful. Some guitar players out there that have played a variety of Fender and Squier electric guitars over the years will tell you that the Mexican, Japanese and Korean made models are way better than any American made models that are out there. I mean, some American made models were great but not all of them were great. Otherwise, this is my input from what I know and I hope you like it. Best of luck to you and all that good stuff.
I believe it’s the clear coat which cracks.
So what you are saying is replace everything but the wood?
Mine is black with red binding and a Jackson style head stock with two humbuckers and tremolo and head phone Jack and batteries it’s a prospector I picked it up at a flea market
I have a fender Squier series. MIJ. Rosewood board. It has the most unique sound. Looks as good as my USA strats, pleats very different. I’d kinda suggest it played like an early early USA strAt. Mt personal opinion- if you can find one- buy it. Mines a one piece Japanese cedar body and it melts like butter in the hand. Try these things if you can. They’re rare and they’re collectible.
I’ve got a 2008 love it !
Dude, where are you? Been over a year since I've seen ya.
They now make a whole ashtray/bender assembly. Have on on order. Cool thing about this is no drilling, no messing with the original bridge, so I can check it out, if I don’t like it I can return to stock.
I’ve heard that they’re alder. Kind of looks like it but I’m not an expert.
The 80s serial numbers were seven digits. The first digit indicates the model year (ie. if it starts with a 5 it’s a 1985 model).
Does it have the white marker dots on the fretboard? I use those to find notes. It is double that price at $46 now at A.E. p.s. I find it amazing you know nothing about ukes and did a review. Anything for a buck in the USA. Disgraceful.
I have the same series. Fender squire series but made in Japan. It sure what it’s made from but weighs a ton. It was refinished a few years back and has a one piece cedar body. Some piece of kit. Even with ceramic pickups it rocks. The truss rod hole has no insert- plastic or wooden. 22 frets. Rosewood board. It knocks the socks of my USA highway one and Mexican player. Reckon she’ll be worth a few $ one day if not already. People sleep on these imports. Brainwashed!!
cuanto es el precio de esa guitarra?
Hi thanks for the video. Are you threading the string through the lowest hole first? Also did you wrap the 2 thinnest strings around twice?
why does the new bridge pickup look like it's banana shaped? 😲
Damn, you left the strings in while detaching the bridge! My Squier Affinity Telecaster has a "humbucker" in the bridge position... it's a DiMarzio Chopper!
Real nitro EXPLODES you can hear loud snapping…. I wouldn’t try it… I did this to one of mine and had big chunks fly off and cracks everywhere INSTANTLY and you don’t need heat. It didn’t look cool at all.
A snug glue-in of a saddle is all that is needed. Just make sure the guitar top and bridge are both lightly coated in glue (Titebond is fine) right to the edges and raw wood.
If that’s an Ibanez body, then chances are very high that it’s a 24 fret neck, so yeah putting a 21 fret neck on a guitar body setup for a 24 is gonna mess with your intonation, and pocket fit.
I remember seeing one of these Epiphone strats in a store back in the 90’s. Always wondered about ‘em. Thanks for the video!
What did you use for the replacement pickgard? Holes all line up..? Thanks! Enjoyed your vid!
I have one of these in Torino red, it's a great guitar although the pickups and electrics are not the best. This is the information Fender sent me from the serial number. I have one of these in Torino Red, I've kept it original apart from changing the pick guard. I think it's a great guitar to play although the pickups and electrics are not the best. The specs I got from Fender via the serial number which was not on the website but I emailed them and this was the information they sent me. FENDER TRADITIONAL STRATOCASTER MN TRD made in 03/1995 Model Name: Traditional Stratocaster® Model Number: 013-3600-(Colour#) and 013-3602-(Colour#) Series: Traditional Series Body: Poplar Neck: Maple (Std. hello, do you know the radius of the SRV neck? Thank you
Got the same guitar, love-it
i make custom pickgaurds for these
I bought these tuners , I just bought a cheap after not playing for 10 years . I bought pretty much everything to replace everything on the guitar but I’m nervous about doing it myself . I’m gonna try to install these tomorrow myself 🤞 to save some money lol
Bonjour Monsieur Connaissez vous le radius de la guitare que vous présenterez de chez ali Epress ? Merci a à vous David
In The Fender Book (1998), Fender VP of Marketing (Mike Lewis) is quoted as saying that the MIM Fender guitars (necks and bodies) are produced in Corona (CA), shipped to Mexico to be sanded, painted and finished - including Mexican hardware and electronics. Forgive me if I am going to prioritize the words of a Fender VP over some Rando in their garage or dude on RUclips. I believe that Fender (Corona, CA) stopped producing the Mexican necks/bodies in 1998 or 1999. Something that cannot be questioned are that these “Squire Series” Pre-CBS Black Mate logo Fender Stratocasters and Telecasters are the (very) last Fenders with “Squire” on them that were made in the United States (the last before these are/were the 1982-1983 pre-Japanese Squire Fenders). This alone makes them collectible. Another thing to point out is that, since they have the name “Fender” on them, these Black Label guitars are legitimate Stratocasters and Telecasters - not to be confused with Squire models (even though these read “Squire Series”). Lastly, I own a 1994 Black Label MIM Fender Stratocaster AND a 1994 Black Label MIM Fender Telecaster. These two guitars play better than any modern Mexican or American Fender I have played. I also own an original Fujigen 1990 Fender Stratocaster - which are heralded as the finest 1957 and 1962 reproductions Fender has ever sold/produced. These Black Label MIMs play just as well, if not better, than my MIJ Strat. You can easily find one of these Black Label Strats today for about $500-$600. The Black Label Teles are much (much) more difficult to find (in good condition). I see the Teles usually around $700-$1k. There’s nothing me on eBay for $550 (selling out of NJ), but I think it is a scam. Bottom line… the hype is legitimate, these are American made necks and bodies, they play remarkably well, and they are seriously undervalued. If you can find one, jump on it. 🎸😵🫠
Spot on! Completely agree. I have 3 Teles and 3 Strats a mixture of American & Mexican, and my favourite is my 94 MIM Black label Strat with the Squier Series (in mint condition) has the best feeling maple neck and playability. Close second is my rosewood USA Tele. Love it will never sell it.
Ah, you did it right! I saw another video doing it wrong, but I didn't want to comment. Thanks! I will get them for my guitars!
I bought a black strat from ali and I tell you what that's not bad at all. It sounds pretty damn good for what I paid. The only complain is that they shouldn't put fender logo on it.
Does this guitar has a truss road? i don`t see one.
I have one of these with a rosewood board and love it but I totally agree with you. I think over the years some stories also got mixed up from these and the “California” series guitars they did in the late 90s. They truly were a team effort between both the Ensenada mexico plant and the corona California plant. Fun fact These factories are less than 3.5 hours from each other lol.
Stop. Wiping. The. Frost. Off.
These are excellent bridges, for 6 point they feel the best and the price is right, a straight swap upgrade with no other mods. Can’t go wrong. I have a couple of these in my guitars.
Most of these Ali Express/dhgate import copies are good for the husk itself. Once you change tuners, nut, fret level, crown & polish, pickups, wiring harness, bridge, and plastics you'll have a great personalized guitar.
We argument about the spring placement is if you break a string, the tension pulls towards the middle and your guitar won’t go out of tune as much as it would if they were parallel
Wrap it around under or over the string?
That is kick ass on such a high level.
That bridge is closer to a PRS vs Fender very sharp.
That's my guitar from about '88.
Thank you....
that would be final finish on neck plug all they sent was wood
nice job!
I live in the UK and recently bought a 50s roadworn Mexican Stratocaster with USA Fender 59 pickups. My experience is similiar to yours. A very high action and issues with playability and intonation. This is very informative. Thanks. Shame I don't live nearby I would pay you to set mine up!
My strat is one of these ones and it's really great! It got the most output I ever heard on an electric guitar and plays really good. I would never sell it! You can hear and see it in my video's!
same here bro i have two of them and hot rodded them will never sell them
Hola brother yo tengo ese modelo de guitarra. Tienen mui buen sonido 👍
Thanks and greetings from Spain 😊
Roller bridges aren’t actually crucial. In fact, they can be rather noisy, sloppy and Rob tone. I’ve never had any rollers on any of my 335’s. One of them does have the original nylon saddles though. I have never had any issues with staying in tune. Also, they are actually quite easy to restring quickly without any special tools. You just need to get used to it.
Looks like you may have forgotten to run a ground wire to the Bigsby.
