This looks like a great setup. I'm a big fan of the Kelly Kettle, but need to check this out too.

It smokes a bit but works a treat super fast. Great for keeping Midges away. For a cleaner burn i put two small lumps of coal under the tinder more heat and less smoke . I love this bit of kit.

Of course, all stoves with chimneys need to be vented outside.

Trial and error. Typically 45 degree elbows are better, hard turns create more flow resistance and may impact emissions. Lots of variables factors (fuel, temperature, negative air pressure, humidity, elevation, wind eddies, etc..., can impact chimney drafting performance.

Does it warm the home or 'just' cook?

I ordered Gstove including 17 items 28 April 2020. Order No: 100 3089. Receipt No; 5174-2548-3554-0073. I received 1st shipping 8 items April 2021. But Gstove does not make shipment until now. I do not receive 9 items. Gstove doesn't keep the promise. Gstove is bad company.😉

I have used my little 3 prong cook stove for 3 years now, hard use, I am in the weeds and woods every chance I get. I am not particularly careful with my set up and yet, it has held up brilliantly. I did try one of the cheaper versions before I found the Scout...I loved the bargain one, but I killed it in the first season...whereas this economy scout has held up year after year, burns better, is more stable, and burns anything you put in it from dried animal pooh to thorny crap I had to use in the desert. Also, I went out with a bunch of people and it suddenly became monsoon central, I kept this little stove going, and used the coals to keep the main fire going. This stove is brilliant and I would never go back to hauling fuel and rationing it so I won't run out. Want a warm trail bath? No problem, just keep heating water... No worries that we will run out of sticks. ❤️😁 Love this stove more than I can explain!

Yes, if vented outdoors and second chimney j valved into the main chimney to move all emissions outdoors (if smoking food in the oven). Note, this is an insulated oven so not an efficient heating source if you were looking for an additional radiant heat option.

Yes, pallets are an excellent source of free wood, that is unless they are fumigated. Do not burn fumigated pallet wood (treated for insects). That would be a potential health hazard.

Can you use the wood pallet?

Not a good plan, since heat transfer is significantly impaired. Dutch ovens without legs improve efficiency. The Hunter starts off at high firepower and during that phase, a Dutch Oven with legs would make cooking possible, however, not efficient. Heat transfer efficiency is gap-dependent. Low firepower would be problematic since so much heat transfer would be lost, defeating stove design efficiency. SilverFire.

Tom, you get it! Regards, SilverFire! Unfortunately, many of these small stoves are also significant fire hazards. Talent Oregon burnt to the ground last year due to a careless cook with such a device when errant embers and high winds combined due to human error.

Great video Todd. I think you have sold me. I never realized how awful those little portable twig burners are. I even regret buying an ezy stove.

Appreciate your comments, this is the 4th accolade from Texas this week regarding our products. Meanwhile, I have learned about others who perished from cold weather by simply running out of propane. Like Puerto Rico post-Hurricane Marie, it is hard to believe so many folks' lives could be unprepared in and compromised the USA. Unfortunately, disasters continue to increase and it appears this trend will be unabated... Thankfully you were proactive and not dependent on others.

I met this gentleman at a show in Dallas about five years ago and bought the Survivor and the Dragon Pot with steam basket. Since the freeze I've been using this to heat water and cook. To get more cooking out of one blaze, I use a griddle on which I can heat several pots. It takes a fraction of time to boil water as an electric stove and uses very, very little fuel. I love this product and would buy it again. If you're an outdoors enthusiast or want to exercise a life style closer to off-grid, I'd recommend this any day!

I store my dragon pot in an old cooler bag so I don’t have to worry about the mess. I use a volcano hood sold elsewhere to put over the dragon pot once the water has boiled giving me hot water all day long at the campground,, this keeps the wife happy and a happy wife is a happy life on the campgrounds

Yes, a little Dawn on the bottom of the pot will make cleaning soot easier.

On a Girl Scout campout, I learned to rub dish soap on the outside of the pot before cooking with fire. Then the soot washes right off.

I purchased one of these stoves from Silverfire last Fall and used it about 40 times last winter. I was *very* pleased with its performance. Lots of heat, very efficient burn (only fine ash left, no visible smoke out of the chimney), secondary combustion works just like as seen in the video. I used mostly pine and elm, but also compressed sawdust bricks.
