Eric Roche - 'To Be The Light' (a tribute)
Here's my version of 'To Be The Light' by Eric Roche. As it happens, today marks 19 years since his death (aged only 37) from cancer - a terrible loss for the world, and all the more reason to keep his music alive. For tabs and albums check out his bandcamp: ericroche.bandcamp.com

SQUIER Jazzmaster 12 string does The Byrds! ('Turn, Turn, Turn' cover)
Просмотров 14414 дней назад
Here's the first proper recording with my Squier Paranormal Jazzmaster XII, and what better way to test it out than with an arrangement of a classic song recorded by The Byrds (though written by Pete Seeger) alongside my friend and excellent bass player Dan Rogers! I'm playing the melody in different positions on the fretboard in each of the three verses which hopefully gives a sense of the dif...
Hymne à l'amour - Edith Piaf (solo guitar arrangement)
Просмотров 21428 дней назад
Seeing Celine Dion singing a wonderful version of this during the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics reminded me what a beautiful song it is. This is my arrangement - the guitar is tuned half a step down in order to be in the original key of Eb that Edith Piaf sung it in. Piaf wrote the words but the music was written by Marguerite Monnot. I've kept my arrangement fairly simple so as not to...

    Extremely well done comparison. Kudos for playing the same with each and keeping the demos of each short (at least in the initial comps) as the memory of the human brain for sound is very brief. It would have been even better had you stuck to that however. The Prime Tone sounds pretty similar to the Blue chip for a lot less cash. A thicker Tortex would have been nice to hear as well as they are quite different sounding than the thin ones. Thin picks can be good for strumming if you like that sort of sproingy thinner tone and are also cool on twelve string guitar for both strumming and single note playing.

    It has a big fatal flaw, the High E string notes around the 7 to 11 fret those notes on the frequency response are severely spiked up, if you listen to it on bluetooth mode with music you'd know just how bad it actually sounds, the other flaw is this constant hissing in the background, watt's even worse is when you play a note for 0.4 second you cant actually hear the hiss getting more aggressive and then it dies down .2 seconds after you stopped the note its very subtle but you can actually notice it, its there even in this video at around 0:21 you can notice it. In terms of punchyness of bass in songs in bluetooth mode and aux in it has none, i tested it against a VIFA HELSINKI bluetooth speaker, a speaker that has 2 full range. 2 inch speakers with 2. 2.6 inch flat cone woofers mounted magnetically back to back and i kid you not, the spark mini sounds like a ham radio, hell sitting alone in the room with bluetooth mode listening to music without hearing the vifa i could never get used to it, you get this huge peak in female vocals that just for some reason sound louder then anything else within the composition of the music, you get drums being lost in the background and just everything sounds like its a million miles away until the singer (you better hope its not female cuz if it is your ears are in for a good icepick of a time i tell ya that much mate) starts singing and even then its not remotely that good as it does have a bit of like this 1960s 1970s radio kind of distortion in the upper treble range, it was awful it was... not good not good at all im afraid, there are better choices for your listening experience, and at that price its almost downright a scam, why the Boss katana mini with its 1. 4 inch speaker was hands down able to put down a better fight with my vifa helsinki then little ol Spark mini over here, and that's a 7 watt amp that costs significantly less then the spark mini, and the reason why i say this is because i go around and see different youtubers saying oh you know "this speaker for its tiny size sounds amazing ohhh soo good is unbelivable" even positive grid's unveiling of the amp with a bunch of guitar players acting surprised caught me off guard, so much so that i just had to buy one, little did i know it was gonna be an absolute piece of dog poop. Like if people could just take their heads out of their asses and not be paid to do their review you start to find out its not really a good speaker to begin with it might be a great SOUND EFFECT speaker but is not great, i would take the spark 40 any day at least with the bass problem i can turn down to 0.4 and the treble to 7 and mids to 6.6 and it would fix like 85% of the problem It doesnt matter how many "tones" are at your disposal if you got the speakers wrong, then you have everything wrong, big dissapointment from me and my father who approves wholeheartedly, yeah im an audiophile but i feel like even if you're not an audiophile you're gonna pickup on this VERY VERY quickly i tried giving it a second chance but dont take my word for it, go try see for yourself guys they do offer Returns if you buy, but just remember the cost of sending it back that is all on you

    • @ernestochang1744
      @ernestochang1744 Месяц назад

      ALso 1 thing i forgot to mention here is, they dont know how to do Passive bass radiators very well, so when i had the spark mini and i looked on the bottom there was no diaphragm to move back and forth so if you actually had a speaker that had a passive bass radiator you'd know that there is a portion that moves along with the bass called the diaphragm this is watt creates those vibrations thus amplifying bass. With that being said i did not notice such a thing below the amp what i did notice is, if you put it up to the light its got these honeycomb pattern holes carved into the plastic but the little black mesh that is in there, it does nothing it is there purely for decoration, when you go into positive grids website and you go to spark mini and you scroll down and you get to the part where there is the numbering that is telling you of the "features" of this amp you know they have that exoskeleton picture with see through xray 1 full stereo........ 2 EQ scenarios......... 3 OMNIDIRECTIONAL BASS??? passive radiator inside is completely separate from the 2 speakers that are being SEPARATED from the passive bass radiator by a PCB board, and you can actually see this because right in that image where we see point #2 we see this huge PCB board cutting out the Passive bass radiator. For those of you unaware the way a passive bass radiator works is a speaker that is not powered by anything except the air inside a cabinet when a powered speaker is actually playing the vibrations and frequencies inside is being picked up by this plate that is TUNED specifically for the low frequencies to reverbrate and amplify those lower frequencies by mechanical means, however if the powered speakers are separate away from this huge 3 inch passive bass radiator at the bottom by a PCB BOARD then it defeats the purpose of having a passive bass radiator that big at the bottom of the amp with honeycomb holes no less which means whatever frequencies it tries to amplify is not working correctly because air can escape through the honeycomb design thus defeating the purpose of actually having that. From every picture i can see of every single person taking out their grill from the spark mini there is 2 enclosures or rather 1 gap and 1 enclosure 1 is where they house the 2 angled 2 inch full range speakers and the other one is where they yet again have a huge gaping hole that is not doing this amp any favours if anything it is hindering its performance, the part where the passive bass radiator is located is at the bottom of that 1st enclosure and then going upwards is the PCB board which seems to block off 80% of the space that the passive bass radiator needs to work properly (brilliant*) and then we have the main 2 inch speakers

      Still glad I fitted it - I don't actually use it huge amount (if I want a hardtail I'll usually just grab another guitar), but it gives my Charvel an extra level of versatility for different tunings etc. No major downsides, it does vibrate a little bit but you don't notice when the guitar is plugged in.
