Stormy evening short taxi and takeoff from JFK - SFO; Video starts after sitting on a runway for about 40 minutes with a dozen other aircraft during a storm hold on traffic. I would love a savvy viewer to identify the aircraft type based on the wing config.

Not sure what you did, but there is a fix for this. you can buy just that half of the VRO for something like 90$, that includes the electronics, and half of the fuel pump bowl. where is it leaking from is the access that OMC used to place another spring loaded piston that pushes up on the count reset pin. if there isn't oil dripping around the electronics, the o-ring for the reset pin is probably fine....you could have tried to seal the access by running a bead of super glue, or a bead of epoxy. www.thehulltruth.com/boating-forum/851310-just-little-insight-into-oil-side-vro2-oms.html inside the electronics, is a pulse counter (equal to number of magnets in flywheel), if the pulse reaches 8192 without having reset by the reset pin, then the alarm sounds.

    • @GaryCrabbe

It seems to be some kind of crack in the housing of the VRO pump. I tried to seal it using MarineTex Epoxy. It seems to be working, though I only ran it a few minutes in the driveway. Hoping to test on the water soon as the winds die down.

Wow, Gary, you make a lot of good points in this video that I can totally identify with. I have only once accidently got caught up in one of these iconic locations for photography. I had been climbing 14ers in Colorado for 8 days straight and decided that I'd like to see the Maroon Bells before I left the state, so I drove over to the parking lot and slept there so I could easily get over to the lake for the sunrise...low and behold I wasn't the only one. About 10 others had the same idea that particular morning. :) Ya, it was wierd alright.

Based on this weekends experience: I find it pretty hard to get a good shot of leaves with backlight. The contrast is just way too high. The more successful strategy was to shoot in shadow, which was also mentioned on the video.

I don't know for sure about North Lake this year as of right now, but I do know they got snowed on last week, so I'm guessing they may be close to being past prime. I wouldn't wait too much longer this year for North Lake or other higher locations.

Some good points, I think it may be more interesting to watch the people than take the photo when that many get lined up. This makes me think of another good question, I wrestle with sharing some of these amazing locations I have done the research to find, it's not as if people can't find them on their own but bringing attention to much lesser known locations seems like a catch 22. I want to show these amazing locations but I become a bit possessive of them, not wanting them to turn into a "Delicate Arch".

Casey Bieker Thanks for the comment. It's a great point and it's been a concern expressed over the 25 years I've been taking photos. The more delicate the environment, the more we need to consider the impact.
