Is this the ‘WEDGE” body surfing place down by San Diego, CA? I was there in 1969 and the waves were not so large but the break was similar, with one break taking you into a crash with the other. Somebody please let me know. Thanks.

Look up the history of "the wedge", and how the break wall was financed at the turn of the century, it gives an interesting insight to the demise and heroics of anyone that enterprises taking on this bone yard wave .

I used to body surf and boogie board the Wedge back in the 60's. I can't even imagine surfing it. Those waves are brutal.

I was getting good and cocky. They took me to the wedge. Broke off the cocky part! Ouch

Got crushed by a wave in Jan., 2017 in waist deep water. Tore my right hamstring to shreds internally. Bled internally - got “compartment syndrome” - had an emergency “facsciotomy” plus 2 more emergency ops on my leg while in ICU. Four units of whole blood; 4 units of blood plasma; 2 units of platelets and they finally got the bleeding under control. 2 1/2 weeks in the hospital; 17 weeks of re-hab. I didn’t die; I got to keep my leg; it still works !! Water weighs 8.33 lbs. per gallon. I had literally tons of water on my back, folding me up on the bottom. I am not a surfer; wake boarder; kite boarder; skim board; nothing. I just tried to dive under a wave in Florida.....it was about shoulder high.
