Being a bartender isn't easy. But it sure can get you good tips! Me being a friendly person and a social butterfly, I connect with people of all ages quick and well. I got to know some of the old men in the bar. They would always come sit there and talk about their wives and kids. Only to learn that some don't even have a wife or that they are sick. Some days I really enjoyed because there were some genuine people I have met that would always boost me as a person. And some nights were so terrible I couldn't take it and I used to silently cry quickly in the bathroom and get over it. One night I got touched by a old man that wanted to give me a tip, but didn't want to put the money in my hand, instead he forced his way into my shirt JUST so that he can put the money in between my breasts. That was the most humiliated thing that happened to me there. But best part for me was that I was able to spend money on so much more than what I can spend now (im in Retail now) so life was more comfortable then. I could easily go on holiday and go away for a week or two. I can't do any of that since I have been in retail (now 3 years). Gotta say, if you are a social butterfly and find it hard to take anything personally from anyone you don't know, bartending is for you. 😂 Also, be true to who you are. Don't change for anyone. Or anything.

I was a barlady for 3 years. I enjoyed it as much as I didn't. I had to lock up alone at 2am in the dark. There used to be no security to make sure I'm safe. I had to make sure I watch my own back. Some nights were fun, until I almost got thrown with a glass on my head from behind, luckily the girl missed and she wanted to physically fight me after that, she missed, got even more mad and then chased me and I ran and locked myself in the store room. I immediately phoned my boss. He was not there, and this all because of me being friendly to both her and her boyfriend (which was a old regular customer at the bar I worked at and that I had no interest in) by the way!! 🤔🤔I don't know how some of you would have reacted in this situation? But I'd love to have some opions😂😂 Some good old times when he had a braai (south african BBQ) and listened to some cool music. Some customers really tipped well, while others used to not tip anything. I used to learn a lot about others and I don't regret anything about it, because at the end of the day I still gave my best and even though I kind of miss it, I don't think I'd go back. Only if I have no job and no choice, I'd definitely do it again. But I don't think it's the right environment for me.

Damn those prices are low. At my bar here in San Diego, beers are $10-$12, Malibu double would be $20 ($12 + $8 for double), Knob old fashioned would be $22 ($14 + $8 for old fashion modifier).
