LeafGuard gutters - we can stop them!

If you've been hurt, file a LeafGuard complaint online with your state DOJ
Brenda, I'm sorry you had a poor experience. I clicked on this video because we also had a poor but different experience with LeafGuard. The salesperson put some high-pressure sales tactics on my wife while I was away on business and she signed up. I got home the next day and thought the price ($8k a few years ago) was outrageous. Also, we live in FL and most of the trees here don't lose their leaves anyway. So I canceled 24 hours after the contract was signed, both by phone and by email. About a month later we get a call from LG saying they'd be out tomorrow to install the system. I told them we canceled. They said we didn't - at least not within the 3 day window. I replied that I had both the email and the phone log showing we did. They tried to insist that the contract was valid, so I said if they showed up on my property I'd call the police and have their crew arrested for trespassing. They said they'd bill me anyway and then file a lien when the bill was unpaid. I told them good luck with that and any further conversation can be had with my attorney but filing a fake lien is a criminal act and I would pursue that claim with the authorities. And I hung up. I don't get paid to put up with idiots like that. I got a call back an hour later with their GM first aggressively trying to get me to take the product anyway, then they started discounting it heavily. But at that point I wouldn't have taken it even for free.
I have owned many houses. I have seen leaf guard systems create different problems. In colder climates I saw Ice build up and push under the shingles. Also insect infestation like Carpenter Beatles love to nest underneath them. I have literally pulled expensive and relatively new leaf filter systems off of houses and scrapped them.
tell leaf guard to make like a tree and leave 😂
As a 10 year gutter installer.. I usually refused or played dumb, acted like I couldn’t, when it came to installing Leafguard systems like this one. Mainly because it’s a grade A scam. Rain flow in Tulsa is one of the biggest leaf guard scammers out there. $12 a foot for a system that’s engineered on ignorance “Oh water sticks to metal- it’s science” is what I was told when I argued they don’t work at all.
Taking the video down won't do anything. It's forever on the internet. I guarantee someone has already ripped this video and will re-upload as soon as it's removed lol.
Best thing is no guard Get a company to clean them out a couple times a year Gutter guard false security.
Fight the power Brenda!
Thank you, Brenda!
Boomers are really something else. They have so much money, you know with them being the richest generation in human history (and incidentally the first generation to leave their progeny poorer than they were) that they think we're supposed to feel sorry for them when they get bedazzled by this con game or that snazzy product. They are so entitled, they believe that whatever happens to them is someone else's fault and they should be made whole instantly, and we should all fall in right behind them until they get their first world problems solved..They have no concept that there are tens of millions of Americans who can't even afford homes, and those that can, can barely afford the mortgage payment, much less a small do it yourself improvement. But here we have these rich boomers who no doubt have big 401K's and big savings accounts and despite that are still harvesting multiple thousands of dollars from social security every month despite not needing it, and whose medical care I'm sure the taxpayer funds every dime of. Don't tell me about "they paid into social security," because boomers paid in almost nothing but are taking out huge amounts every year despite being rich. Here they are spending almost 20 large on flipping GUTTERS and pretending they've been wronged and done dirty and this injustice cannot stand! Give me a break. Handle your own problems rich boomer, and leave us poors out of it.
Thank you for the video. Saved me from wasting my time with them.
Leaf Guard-Take your shysters with vests on and GTH. I replaced my gutters with leaf guarding capability for $1500 with a reputable, local gutter company. I have an average sub-division home.
The truth always comes out.
My experience with sealed gutters was poor workmanship. These companies use unskilled subcontractors. Mine were installed so poorly I was reimbursed the installation cost after the cleanup repairs were made. I learned that hiring a company that install their products by their employees.
Water rolls off your roof, and into the gutters. Leafgard keeps leaves from settling into said gutters. Where else can the water go? Off your roof, onto the ground, right along your house foundation. Bad for the foundation. And that's that!
Shame on those trolls who called you stupid. You are not stupid. Why do people have to be mean? How small your life and heart must be to feel good about kicking someone when they are down.
Made a nice phone call to Leafguard and let them know that I was in the market for some new gutters but that I would not even consider using them anymore after seeing this story. The lady on the phone was very rude but also seemed upset that that I would dare bring up this situation. Don't give Leafguard your business.
Leaf this Lady alone you damn Guard's..
You cant beat a good woman who stands her ground , good on you fro not giving in to their demands and i think your right , theyve clearly had this issue before....i love it when normal people post videos about bad companies and bad experiences , it kicks the company right where it hurts and rightly so
1500 for my house and they work great not leaf guard
Figures they would think you would be pacified by their “settlement!” They could write it off and you would pay taxes on your “extra income.” So sorry to hear of your troubles, but I admire you for sticking to your guns. By the way, being fooled by glib advertising does NOT make you stupid. God Bless you and your husband, and I hope it all works out. 🙏
Brenda, thanks for sharing your story. I had Leaf Guard come to my house twice for estimates and both times my spidey senses went up as I had the feeling I was in an info commercial with the salesperson. They would not give me a hard copy estimate (red flag) and then stated: ""If you buy today there will be an X % discount" (another red flag in my book) the whole experience was just weird. Plus the the price was outrageous for their product. I would suggest people find an alternative product and STAY away from Leaf Gaurd.
Thank you for this information mam.
This video saved us from choosing badly, thanks.
Thanks, saved me problems. The little guy vs the big thug with lawyer upholding a disgraceful failure, lawyers comment giving light to this companies history was very useful to know.
We had Leafguard come out about 5 years ago to give us a quote on covering our gutters in Michigan. The salesperson who came out was just what you’d picture a dishonest, faux-friendly, con man salesman would be. A real caricature come to life. After a “careful review” of our needs, he quoted us $14,000. I thought that was ridiculous! So, I thanked him for his time, but showed him the door. He went out to his car, and I thought that was that. But a few minutes later he was knocking on our door again, saying he was excited to tell me that a “spring special” sale was about to commence, and he’d gotten permission to offer me the special sale discount, which would knock the price down to $11,000. I looked at him sideways, and said, “Thanks, but no thanks.” Sure enough, a few minutes later another knock on the door. I answered it and slimy says, “$9,000?” I basically told him to scram and shut the door in his face. I immediately knew that Leafguard was not the kind of company I wanted to do business with. I ended up selling that house without doing anything to the gutters.
So glad to know this. I was thinking about trying Leaf Guard, but now I know they are not a trustworthy company. So I went to Home Depot- the gutters and leaf guard toppers are very inexpensive to buy. In fact, the stuff is cheap. So I've been slowly replacing my gutters in my spare time. I estimate the total cost for buying the stuff will be less than a hundred dollars. Walk through the gutter/rainspout isle at Home Depot- your eyes will pop at how many things are available to buy, cheaply. Old gutters can be covered with leaf guard pieces. They are maybe $3 a section. There are many products for patching up gutters with leaks, too.
Hi Brenda, not sure how your videos got into my recommendations, I’m in Australia. But I watched them and 100% support what you are doing for other consumers. Please keep us updated. Best wishes
What an awful $19,000 ripoff product! Thank you for sharing this information about LeafGuard Gutters.
Thank you for posting this video. I thought about calling LeafGuard concerning my gutters but I think I can do just fine without them now. Thank you again.
Good on you! 👍👍👍
If someone told me Leaf guard costs more than $1,000 I would tell them to get lost
Are you telling me that you paid $15,000 for leaf guard?
Never settle, so many people settle and are part of the reason other's suffer.
I know I would never use this outfit after watching this video.
Ms. Brenda, Don’t give in. If you don’t have an attorney, the county bar association may be able to refer you to a good contract attorney. Don’t accept the settlement. You can do a lot better. This is their first offer. You should rightfully demand that they remediate or reimburse you for the repairs you’ve undertaken. Speak with an attorney. Please.

Several years ago, I worked for a sun room company and they had similar gutters to sell as well. They put several gutters on the sun rooms as well as just gutters on peoples homes. EVERY one of the owners that got the gutters, either on the sun rooms and gutters that was put on homes made them take down the gutters, because of all the problems the gutters had. The company finally went bankrupt. Maybe LeafGuard will go under too. Stand your ground Miss Brenda and never let that company take hard earned money. God Bless.
Good for you checking up on the difference between a settlement and a refund. Sounds like they know the difference too and were trying to put one over on you.
Sounds like an admission and acceptance of liability by leaf guard.
The best gutters are no gutters.
Thought about them, but not a chance now!
So sorry that you got taken by a company that obviously didn't keep their word and sells an inferior product. Thank you for exposing them
Stand your ground until they give you the refund you deserve!
Don’t explain YOUR decisions to NOBODY… like they’ve never been had. We all have at some point. Blessings and I pray everything is ok.
Wow, just found this. So glad I did cause I had an appointment with this company.
hell yeah
If you drive past a person's house in winter and they have 3 foot long icicles, you know they have leafguard
It's not your fault for being taken advantage of. My parents have these gutters, and we were finally able to get them working after years of fighting and my husband, who is a lawyer, getting involved. The language on your settlement sounds fairly boilerplate and standard. Unfortunately, non-disparagement clauses and the vendor not admitting fault is generally how these things work. It's crummy, but it's life.
Yes, but this is their opening offer. If Ms. Brenda hires an attorney, she will get a better settlement.
They did just what I said they would do. When u have water coming off a roof keep in mind the steeper the roof the faster the water comes down and then you put a round plastic shield on top of the gutter. You end up with a high power water slide. Your not the only one who didn’t know better and let me tell you as an honest man. Greed knows no bounds and the older u are the more lies they feed you. Good luck with the crooks.
