Alan Wake Series literally had me watch TWIN PEAKS

Okay, just in case I stopped before the NG+ since I'm waiting for the new DLC to play it To start with, sorry for your death. Hope you are getting better lol The video is interesting and I would say it lacks analysis since, is a resume of the story mainly and there is a lot of stuff left behind. But the one I really wanted to bring up is that Saga and Alan are not only opposite representations of each other, but also of the players Alan story is perfect for people that already played the first one and waited for it while Saga is for the new ones, the "horror" feeling the first one "had" (it wasn't horror, but they try to say it was). Both play in completely different way and do explanation on what you may lack/add to the part you want to know more Another important thing about the game is the use of Jump scares. They are not only to bother and play with you, but to remove this sensation of security that video games tend to do. When your character dies, you are safe, nothing happen to you and a Game Over shows up disconnecting itself from you, and this is not what the creators of AW2 wanted. They wanted a sensation of consequences that affected directly to the player and making YOU be the spectator and actor at the same time of the story they are telling. And no, this is not something that I only cached playing the game, but also, Sam Lake himself talked during the game over screen situation Also, if you notice, when a Jump scare happens, Saga has enough time after it and reacts at the same time "you come back from it", specifically during the Nursing home chapter
I typically don't respond to comments from older videos, but you actually hit the nail right on the head! I'm trying to work on writing less and less 'story recap' but it's a pit I fall into where I just write about what is happening in the story and then briefly write about my analysis because I subconsciously assume everyone is in my same headspace even though they aren't. I'm pretty sure it's a fairly common writing problem but it's one that I'm trying to learn how to shake it off entirely, but thanks for actually pointing it out since I do actually like constructive criticism and it's nice to know that other people notice it too sometimes! Also yea, I love how deep the parallels between the two main characters actually goes.
@@breezu Thanks for answering and reading mate! My trick to avoid falling into a "recap" is writing down subjects I found interesting, examples of it and talk how and why that particular thing called our attention. Sounds, visual, timing, pacing and most important, what the devs have to say about particular subjects and how they worked around them Remedy is currently working and showing script and documentary on the making of Alan Wake 2. I think this is something important to bring on during review videos because a lot of people they don't search and what those things, so resume it for the viewer is just going to be a lot of content of the game for any spectator watching your video
watching this at 3 am while shaving. good video👍
This is my first survival horror genre game i finished, im easily scared when it came to horror games, but this game is different, definitely my game of the year
I got to Rais' arena again through New Game +, and I cannot kill, or barely even damage the big guy... I cried... I tried for an hour, I tried turning down the difficulty and doing it again. Same thing. I love the game, but wheewww... I gotta start over and get even better prepared.
Dying Light main quest is indeed kind of forgettable. But, it's good because of the replayability. Also, after I finished it for the 1st time, I had this emptiness feeling for a while, just like after finishing great tv series. This should mean the story is good.
It appears that fate has conspired to draw your attention to this remarkable creation, as the allure of Dying Light graces your recommendation feed not once, but twice. Such serendipity is seldom mere coincidence; perhaps the cosmos is nudging you toward an even deeper immersion in this extraordinary experience. Having embarked upon this journey only last year, you’ve undoubtedly discovered the exhilarating thrill and spine-chilling essence that the game so masterfully weaves together. The game’s ingenious fusion of parkour mechanics with a harrowing zombie apocalypse indeed provides an unparalleled adventure. Each dusk brings a palpable tension as the monstrous entities of the night emerge, creating an atmosphere of suspense that etches itself into your memory. The combination of swift, fluid movement and relentless danger crafts an exhilarating tapestry of fear and excitement that is truly unforgettable. Your enthusiasm for this magnificent game is truly commendable, and it is my hope that the forthcoming chapters of your adventure will be as captivating and awe-inspiring as those you have thus far encountered. May your journey through the treacherous yet enthralling world of Harran continue to offer you both wonder and formidable challenges.
real
The sad thing about main storyline, is that it actually could've been good. It was originally intended to release in 2014, and looking at old trailers and all the content they release, the plot was slightly different, even the mc was different. Then game was delayed to 2015 in order to remove ps3 and xbox 360 support, redo the main quest and basically polish the game. And this hollywood-esque main quest is what i believe to be the result of this delay and rewrite. Techland wouldn't have time to make completely new sidequests, so they just left the ones that were there before the rewrite. You can even see this with how abruptly some of the quests begin(Firebug is the most prominent example, it was either a part of the OLD mainquest, or a part of the bigger sidequest arc that was majorly cut or reworked into something else) And The Following's main quest was pretty much untouched ever since the announcement in 2014. The beginning may be slightly reworked(which is a good thing), but the ending of Crane turning into the NightHunter is pretty much the same, due to the prerendered cutscene at the end being reused from the old version of the game(Usage of 2014 assets in the cutscene and Harran in the distance being slightly different pretty much prove that)
I read something about that when researching a bit but I couldn't really find anything concrete so I chose to ignore it, but from what I read it really did sound like an 11th hour change.
no people say DL2 has a really bad story
DL1’s is kinda awful too
Haven’t finished the vid yet but really well done so far. I hope you keep making stuff like this cause you’re sure to get quite good at it!
Great video essay dude. I haven't tried Dying Light 2 yet but i hope it's as good as Dying Light 1 was
Just a note, Kyle Crane was told the file had info about an unsynthesized verson of a cure which could be deadly if made in its current form. This is later found to be a lie, but crane didnt go into harran not knowing anything about his mission

breezu retrospective - Uniquely Un-Unique
Saw this in my recommendation feed twice, i think I'm meant to watch this LMAO. Just started playing dying light just last year too, such a amazing fun scary ass experience I'll never forget 😂
the bozak horde is crazy with the night runner mod
plot sucks, guns suck, melee is decent, parkour and unlockable skills are peak and unique. I would rather have a UNIQUE PARKOUR GAME, rather than a generic slop shooter with mediocre parkour. You miss the fact that most people play this game for the parkour and good dlcs like the night hunter mode or the following.
That's what I mention throughout, I probably should've made it clearer, but I adore the gameplay of dying light, I think it some of the most fun in any open world game that I've played. But I'm personally a story guy so even if the game is really fun, I will talk about the narrative because I feel like they don't have to suffer at the cost of the other.
@@breezu I was also expecting a better story by the time we got dying light 2, but the sequel is just as mediocre as tbe first one with its story. At least it's serviceable I guess, but it didn't convince me to buy it
Wanting a good story in dying light is just stupid. The game isnt about having some great story its about gameplay. The game itself is absolutely one of the most fun games of all time. Rais is evil because he wants to be evil. He literally just wants to cause chaos theres no depth beyond that.
Dying Light is by far my favourite zombie game. I don’t think the main story is BAD- I think it isn’t great but it’s serviceable. The Following had a more intriguing story. In terms of everything else… there’s nothing quite like it- atmosphere, open world, combat, physics, parkour, gameplay, updates, content (edit: I don’t think the gunplay is exemplary but hit reactions to bullets and the consequences of using guns/some of the more unique DLC guns help significantly), and let’s not forget the e many many Easter eggs and fun developer weapons- the game has aged like a fine wine. Before I finish the whole video I think the reason it’s so beloved is because it achieves everything a game should be: it’s FUN. Like, really, really fun!
The people over at Techland are miracle workers when it comes to updating and revamping both Dying Light games.
@@breezu 7 years of support for the first game is INSANE. Solid video, enjoyed watching!
cool video, man this is the good stuff
Thank You!
I find it hard to understand why others say Dying light has a bad story when it's exceptionally clear to me. Stories are meant to pace in some way, as it introduces the "rising action" section. Sure, something may have "weird" pacing but that's what makes a story. Same thing with the second, I see nothing wrong with the story. I'd surmise it's something in your perspective. I also don't find the Gazi side quest as "meaningless" since I put myself into Crane's shoes as he thought about "working your way around it."
Oh the story sucks. The characters are unbelievably uninteresting with no real depth. Kyle and Rais are entertaining as hell but the actual storytelling and character decisions make absolutely no sense.
@@GilbertTheGilbertGuy It's not that they make no sense, it's that it's something you wouldn't do. I find it easy to understand
Dead rising dying light and dead island. Are the BIG THREEE of the open world zombie survival genre on console for sure they are the goats all before the time of cashgrabs now they just want your money coould care less about giving you a full game with the least amount of glitches possible

I honestly have no clue what you are referring to in either of your comments since I never said the game was bad because it was hard, nor did I even say I hate the game; in fact, I said multiple times that I love the game. Also, it would be "You're a chode." your isn't correct in that sentence.

Incredible review. And great analysis of the ‘woke’ controversy. This game is a Masterpiece imo.
Im not a fan of a lot of the missteps Destiny 2 took. But I also have always LOVED the lore and story of the game. For a good four years I have watched Destiny lore videos with great enjoyment. I love the world and the characters!
Same, even when I'm going on extended breaks, I keep up with the story because the world bungie made is so incredibly magical.
i hate it because the guardian should not be using the dark that is for the bad guys
I thought Alan had far more gameplay than Saga. Saga's map was huge with no indicators while Alan's map was far smaller and denser. Most of Saga playthrough for me was running around and collecting things while Alan's campaign had pretty dense set pieces both in terms of combat and chase sequences.
This is a great video man. Glad to hear such similar experiences with that ending and the narrative as a whole.
