Paralympian Joe Townsend Presents Rio 2016 Tri-Suit To Sponsor
A former Royal Marines Commando has given his Rio 2016 Paralympics kit to his sponsor, as a show of appreciation for their support.
Joe Townsend was severely injured in a blast while serving in Afghanistan in 2008.
He lost both his legs, and underwent years of rehabilitation. He then put himself through a gruelling training regime, as he developed himself into an elite athlete.
He was picked to represent Team GB at the Rio Paralympics last year, and is now aiming for the Tokyo 2020 podium spots.
He presented his triathlon suit to his sponsor Atkins, at the launch of an alumni group for Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award winners.

90-Year-Old Veterans Skydive For the Taxi Charity
Просмотров 227 лет назад
Skydiving for charity is nothing unusual - but skydiving at the age of 90 is. Two second world war veterans did just that for the Taxi Charity, at Old Sarum Airfield in Wiltshire. Ted Pieri and Fred Glover, both 90, launched themselves out of the side of a plane at 12,000 feet. The Second World War veterans were in the Paras, with Ted fighting in Arnhem and Fred in Normandy. More than seventy y...

SWIFT AND B0LD FOREVER!✊️
Now that’s soldiering
Very true, most civilians will never take control of a situation or indeed actually engage with what they are being payed to do, “not my job” unfortunately is a common theme in our privileged society; everyone seems to know their rights but not their responsibilities. Once a Rifleman always a Rifleman!
Cool share & served with Major Pemberton as both were Rifleman 1990 - in 16 Plt D Coy 2 RGJ and was a cracking fella, Sold me a dodgy gas stove once lol. Military service is all about what you can make of it and the opportunities that arise, understanding through the required commitment (You have to be both flexible and be able to switch gears quickly) it's a way of life hence you bond & form a new family.
Up the LI ,cede nullis !!
Bloody great video!! Thank you all.
I was in Royal Green jackets when this happened
Does punching recruits in the face count that's why I came out they are not supposed to be your enemy ?????
Ballshit! The marines and the paras are the elite infantry regiment! They are physically fitter mentally tougher more disciplined and a better all rounded soldier!.. There is a reason for this... They will last longer on the battlefield! Fact! Id like to see how how many serving rifleman would cut the Marines! The marines are the elite.. Followed by the paras... The rifles are boy scouts compared!
The Rifles have a rich history compared to the paras. The marines, paras and rifles are the elite all together
Pegasus Bridge 1944 - Taken by an elite unit called the 43/52 Oxford and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry took that bridge..
@@davidsmith2356 WANKDURCH
From your name I suspect you're a troll... Needlessly to say that the Rifles are light infantry, the Paras are airborne and the RMC are Marines, so they all have different roles to play.
Paras trigger happy
I have heard from a rifleman 2 years into his career, he started out full of hope promise, job he always wanted, but detect some dissolution with what it is delivering, to me the whole set up seems a farce, very little to do, seemingly no direction, lack of equipment, woeful lack of concern about welfare, broken washing machines, no cooking facilities, low moral, serious drug / drink issues. A requirement to buy your own kit, seems unfair on those such as new recruits on low salaries. Nice promo videos, visit skill build or other such career shows and you will see what a great job the army is. Choose your career carefully I would suggest
I call bullshit on it all Kit is given to people , there is a cook house in every single camp in the army. Yeah you can not cook in the accommodation but that's due to fire orders not because of the army. Broken washing machine yet bullshit again. The washing machines are brought from a civi company. Soon as one breaks it get replaced within a week. So the riflemen you spoke to is clearly not trying you the truth. If you really want to see I will show you myself so !!!!!
There’s absolutely no requirement to buy your own kit, some squaddies do because they choose to do so, personal choice.
i am in the army cadets and i am in the rifles
Same
The British Army is a MUGS game, Very Low pay, and you’ll probably end up either guarding something, or you’ll get posted to a nice foreign country and learn to how kill the locals for their Minerals and or vast oil deposits, so the banking elite get even wealthier..(The Cause of all Wars) They also couldn’t give a shit about you especially when you get disabled doing your job, But not to worry, they’ll give you the addresses of some 1st rate charities, and even label you a bally hero, so not worry you’ll be comfy in your wheelchair... "I speak from experience IDIOTS"
cool, dont join them then...
Did you jump on an army video just to post your tinfoil hat nonsense, with an added emphasis on the nonce bit for you
You fucking wet wipe
Well I get 40k a year I get leave when my kids are off school , I get to ski , play football, health and dental care for free. I got to go Kenya X5 , Belize, Kuwait , USA x2. So let's be honest it's not a bad job, every job has good and bad parts but I get paid what ever , I get money to drive home and to work. Families get low rent houses , welfare for families and children. So get you're facts right .!!!!!
you don't join for money unless you're rock bottom and you can't get work anywhere else.
Start basic in march debating on fusiliears or rifles?
Go in de fusilears you can’t spell it..They’ll teach you to spell stuff.

What a load of fucking bullshit...reminds me of the crap I saw when I tipped up at Connaught Barracks in Dover 1993...all this crazy talk about Riflemen being thinking soldiers...trust me...if you join the Army...understand that when you get broke they will discard you like a bag of anthrax and when you eventually leave the Army...you will be forgotten about...just like me!!! Broken & Forgotten...

Why.. If you think you can pass an Infantry selection course, you can do ANYTHING, so don’t waste your life learning to kill people in foreign countries. You have the balls to make it anywhere. Don’t take other peoples advice, listen to you own mind.. Go get a rucksack and travel the world carve out a life for yourself. Peace.
