    Dude, with all due respect (just ordered an Earthquake tiller) you need a tractor for that bit of land, not tiny little front tine tiller. Good luck with it, though.

      thanks for the view and comment. i was trying to test if small front tine tiller could break up hard-pack clay/tiff, and how long it would take. i did have someone come with a tractor.

    • @jonesrick1
      @jonesrick1 Месяц назад

      @@mrwilson4909 I have a good bit of experience with several types of front tiners and one rear tine job as well. I also have to JD 1025R that I use with its backhoe attachment to breakup virgin weedy, rocky terrain. So I can use my tractor to dig up the hard stuff and then use the little Earthquake to smooth out the broken up stuff. That's my plan. I guess we'll see. Thanks for your reply.

    how did it do in that dirt ?

    • @mrwilson4909
      @mrwilson4909 5 месяцев назад

      how things were it worked pretty good. difficult part was the first dig to depth [ about 6 inches] once at depth things were somewhat easy. would have been better if it had rained and make the ground a little softer. taking plastic cover and outer tines off for cleaning is extremely easy. overall, easiest machine to use....start, use, clean, maintenance.

    I bought one of these though lowes wont get it for another week. I need to level a lot I cleared most the trees off of. Hopefully this tiller will do the job with the help of a sawzaw in the dirt when ever I hit a tree root I missed.

    • @mrwilson4909
      @mrwilson4909 Год назад

      the machine should do the work. it is extremely heavy, and a hydraulic tiller unlike a gear/chain driven system. my 2cents on the project. go shallow and make several passes. less chance of getting roots entangled in the tines and cutting them out. best of luck on the project.

    I just purchased and it pulls me so hard and fast I can't control it. It takes off more than tills. Any recommendations?

    • @mrwilson4909
      @mrwilson4909 2 года назад

      thanks for the question. you need to raise the depth gage[L-shape link] and lower the drag link [straight shaft first 2 or 3 feet you may need to push down on the handles to sink the drag link in the ground, from there it will control itself. i use the depth gage usually on 2nd or 3rd pass. i have drag link at least 1 hole lower than the depth gage. hope this helps. let me know if you have more questions.

    • @MikeinBNA
      @MikeinBNA 2 года назад

      @Mr Wilson Thank you. That is only thing I can think of is to set the drag as deep as I can hoping it slows it down. It's my garden spot from last year so softer ground but at 6'1" 290 it runs away from me so far. I'll play with the drag bar.

    So the first oil plug is for the tines? Is that necessary - this is the first video I've seen that talks about it - didn't see anything in the manual either. I appreciate any feedback, thanks!

    • @mrwilson4909
      @mrwilson4909 2 года назад

      thank you for the question. yes it is necessary. the oil is for the transmission - turning the wheels AND spinning the tines. it is a chain driven system. think of a manual transmission in a vehicle. you can operate without for a short while, but will burn up the transmission. feel free to ask any question you may have. thank you again

    • @dgt357
      @dgt357 5 месяцев назад

      @mrwilson4909 I never found specks on oil for either the motor or the transmission. The manual sucks as far as that goes. It doesn't even tell you there is two oil sumps.

    what's your thought on the telescopic vs the scissor hoist

    • @mrwilson4909
      @mrwilson4909 2 года назад

      thanks for the question. if you overload the trailer. scissor lifts mounts/brackets will break. the telescope system is seemingly indestructible. trailer frame will bend or tires blow out before the telescope system breaks. i think overall, telescope systems are better - lifting capabilities, resell. with gooseneck also help with weight distribution. there is a video where some guys severely overload a scissor lift and telescopic lift about 20k past their limits. hope this answers your question.

    • @adammiller8415
      @adammiller8415 2 года назад

      Go telescopic. They will lift more weight than the trailer or axles can handle. They are the slowest but will never not lift the load. Anything over 12ft should be telescopic

    • @mrwilson4909
      @mrwilson4909 2 года назад

      this thing is a tank. the tines both spin forward and reverse which is great when you get rocks caught up in the tines. the machine is extremely heavy in weight suggest using heavy duty ramps. given the tines go forward/reverse AND front wheels go forward/reverse and its durability it is worth the price. i would have killed any other tiller tilling on the rocky soil.

    Be careful not to bend the rod on the curl cylinder. It's only 1 inch diameter. Upgraded rod is 1.25 inch because it happens alot. I've torn up stumps, roots, and rocks with mine. It's amazing.

    Thank you!! Exactly what I wanted to know. I need a compact tractor for a number of projects at my home as well as my 10 acre ranch here in TX and that soil looks very similar to what I have at both. Need to dig trenches for sewer and power lines, pull a ton of cedar stumps, clean up brush, clear land paths, set some culverts and move some calechie gravel for roads....well you get it. Was wondering if it could do it in a rocky mix.

    I spent significant time looking at all the tooth bar designs I could find, and decided on the Heavy Hitch. Now that I've used the HH for a few months, I'm glad I chose it! The teeth on the HH, are incredibly useful, for breaking up sod, scarifying hard ground, and digging up rocks and roots. I discovered, that my Titan clamp on pallet forks - clamp on right over the tooth bar. That lets me leave the tooth bar on, all the time. The Heavy Hitch Tooth Bar, is a fantastic tractor upgrade!
