Upon observing the cello in person my first thought was surprise at how much physical damage Mia had gleefully caused -- and I liked it. The ridges are functional, and she wasn't afraid to use them.
Mia said, "I like the worn places. It shows how the ridges aren’t just something beautiful to look at. They have a musical purpose - to be knocked, tapped, thumped, struck…used."
Andy said, "I used a hard varnish undercoat. If it becomes a problem that means the cello is being used and it's a problem worth solving."
