damn I have many of those signs.
Thank you so much for this information, it was very helpful 🫶
Thank you for watching
I have Jaccouds anthropathy pretty severely in my left hand. Can you correct this through surgery?
It shares similar deformity that can be corrected through surgery
I had the Final Stage in my early 20s for the last 20 years thanks to a Football catch hyperextending my pinky & it’s blatantly obviously exactly the same Injury as a Muscle Spasm. In Fact Dupuytren, Muscle Spasm & even Lacerations all produce Callogen, then Contractures of either Muscles or Tissues hence what Planet are we on.
Right thumb nail surgicaly removed 2014. Now, 10 years later damn left thumb is acting the same. 😢😢
my patients thumb nail has grown back to almost normal, removal is only temporary just so the infection can be fully cleared
That would feel so good.
Patient made an excellent recovery at six weeks post surgery will post the most recent follow up video soon
Fantastic result! Is there an idea of how long this implant will last?
It will outlive the patient in most cases due to low stress/demand on the rheumatoid hands
Nice 😊
Thanks 😊
Great outcome!
good compliant patient with excellent hand therapy!
Damn so gamers could get carpal tunnel, and the fact my hand is hurting means 1 thing, im cooked😔
Please see my other recent video on carpal tunnel to find some treatments available for this condition
Thank you so much. Mine was very small & has reduced in size to almost nothing but has slightly deformed the fingernail. I wondered given what appears to be a very small issue if a home remedy with a hypodermic sterilized needle might clear it ....
it may help drain the fluid off temporarily but carries a high risk of recurrence
Does the severity of thumb arthritis have any bearing on effectiveness of steroid injection?
Yes it does, if the joint has collapsed completely it’s very difficult to reliably place the injection into a very narrow collapsed joint space or maintain the volume in the joint, making it less effective in a severely arthritic joint
@@healthyhand How would the doctor know if that was the case, by symptoms or an x-ray?
Via x-ray mostly
@@healthyhand Thank you for the information.
Regarding successful steroid injections to get rid of pain, does how long the affected area was painful matter? I know sometimes you can have arthritis in the fingers for example, and not have any pain.
Hi, Yes you are absolutely right the arthritis can sometimes be there for years without causing pain. To answer your question, it doesn’t matter how long you have arthritis for, the steroid injection can be effective for pain control regardless the duration of your arthritis
@@healthyhand Thank you for that information. By the way, excellent video 👍
Mine is gone
Share with us how yours was treated?
Hi, I've got one of this cysts on the middle finger of my right hand. I visited two orthopedist and they said there is a high probability of getting my finger numb forever after the surgery. Because the cyst is placed on the nerve vessel of my finger 😢. Do you recommend surgery after this explanations?? What do you suggest? I look forward to hearing from you.🙏
Hi, as an orthopaedic surgeon myself I do warn patient of the risk of numbness particularly operating around small nerves in the hand. The small sensory nerve branches at the tip of the finger are small to see, however in most cases the numbness are around the scar site (not the more functional pads of the finger tips), my experience is these scar numbness do gradually improve over long period of time. I hope this helps
I have one on right index finger caused by osteoarthritis. Im in the UK and waiting for referral to a hand surgeon. My cyst is painful and fills weekly to a huge size. I have to drain it myself using a needle which i sterilise before draining. I am scared the cyst will become infected and i may lose my finger. Healthcare in the UK is broken.
Public health system does take time, similarly situation here in NZ. Take all precautions with the needle Kate particularly of infection prevention, while I don't personally recommend it. Alternatively you can use protective sleeve of the finger tip to keep it covered and stop the irritation before surgery. Some of my patients use it while on the waiting list to reduce their symptoms. I have a link in video description
Way to just stick the needle into the muscle... 😳
Personal preferences, local anaesthetics can be injected before the trigger injection, effectively making it one extra injection, would that be your preference?
I HAVE IT ITS BIG!!!!!!!
Hi, Big mucous cyst can often be quite irritating, you may want to consider using a finger tip silicon sleeve as mentioned in video description for protection and reduce irritation
This is the best explanation I found so far, thank you so much.
It makes a huge difference as a creator to hear this! let me know of anything else you may want to know and I will do my best to create another useful content. Thanks!
Mines harder but it's at the same place showed in the video
Some of these cysts may appear quite hard, often because of hardened skin over top from constant irritation
@@healthyhandsuggest
to avoid constant irritation please see description below the video for some silicon sleeves to cover the cyst
I have this, but not a big, little one’s floating back and forth on the back of my hand and wrist
Hi Jane, it's a common condition, while it's small you can always keep an eye on it, they do sometimes go away by itself
How do I kick start the process of getting it surgically removed? Do I go to my local GP for a consultation or is there a specialist I can go to straight away in Auckland?
Please go see a GP first to get referral for a hand specialist, I am not aware of any specialist in Auckland who will see patient without a referral first, Hope this helps
Being an orthopaedic hand surgeon this is my bread and butter, havn't turned anyone down yet for this problem, perhaps consider a hand surgeon referral
Finally you have educated me on this topic. My cyst turned septic from wrong diagnostic results from my doctor. I was hospitalized and surgery was performed. I am now recovering after a long and painful hospital stay. Get two or more options. Lesson learnt.
Pleased to hear you are making good recovery, a condition often seems so benign but can lead to serious problems. All the best, pleased I could help
I read that there is about a 65% chance of it spreading to the other palm, not 100%??
really depends on the genetics, definitely not 100%, but more likely in some than others
I need this joint replaced. Hopefully soon
base of thumb surgery mostly successful, although some replacement implants can be unstable, check with your physician
for me its forearm and fingers(esp thumb)
another condition called deQuervain's tenosynovitis, associated with tendon pathology of wrist tendons can be a potential cause of your problem
@@healthyhandThank you for this information!
I am in the process of putting some information on my channel for De Quervain's, stay tuned
By cord do you mean tendon?
Dupuytren cord is a structure distinctly different fro the flexor tendon, If the tendon if cut the patient won't be able to bend the finger at the end of the video
Cortiscosteroid injections?
unfortunately this leads to very high risk of local infection
Need surgery. Otherwise they often reoccur
Whats a way to prevent contractures? I m a 26yr old male and got diagnosed w8th dupuytrens. According to my DR I got this condition after I have fractured my hamate fracture which resulted to lots of stress in my right hand. Now I have these lumps on my hand but thankfully I can still lay my hand flat out on a table and dont have any contractures. I m taking around 400-800IU of Vitamin E on a daily basis, eating cleaner less inflammatory foods and drinking less alcohol/cigarette consumption. I m not of Northern European descent but Southern European
There has been no scientific evidence on preventative measures for developmental apart from avoiding some of the risk factors such as diabetes, cirrhosis, seizure medications and smoking. Given most of the cases are genetic driven the best way is close monitoring and early treatment before it gets worse. Table top flat hand test is a good way to monitor
Low dose radiation for early dupuytrens.
@@bg5760 what type of radiation?
radiation therapy similar to cancer treatment, I have seen patients with radiation treatment with average results, seeking surgery after radiation, it won't make any difference for severe contractures, may be beneficial for early diseases, but no term results still unknown
Get a Cortisone shot. It’s literally the same exact Injury as a Cold Shoulder. I had a Football catch hyperextending my pinky age early 20s. Which I neglected but now they say I have Dupuytren Final Stage yet I had such DAY 1 about 20 years ago. Then I slept w/ my arm behind my back like a Cop will place twisted behind you to subdue. I woke up. Pulled my arm from behind me then stretched yawning. I hyperextended the twisted muscles / fascia tissues in my Shoulder which a Cortisone shot fixed. Dupuytren is exactly the same thing regardless of what these ppl tell you.
Mines hard & right under my nail and they're deforming my nails.
Same here.
some cyst can be hard after irritation over time, it may be worthwhile to xray the finger to ensure it's not a bony prominence such as subungual exostosis, which lies directly under the nail plate
I woke up with random thumb pain. Not on base thou, but on "mcp" joint. And while writing this comment I tried the grind test while pressing down the basal joint, that way it doesn't hurt! But if I do it without pressing down the bass it hurts. Am I safe? Is it some muscle tear? Pls help I'm paranoid.
there are a few different structures around MCPJ that can cause pain, namely the ligaments, flexor tendons, or the joint itself. There is no muscle structure around the joint though. Perhaps an Xray of the joint to investigate if you have arthritis of the MCPJ will be a good starting point
Same mine i wake up with numbing then inside the join is painful
Tanpa sarung tangan dan nampaknya arahnya terbalik
beginilah cara pakar melakukannya
Thank you.i was hoping for dome home remedy
try not to rupture the cyst while waiting for these to gradually disappear is my best home remedy advise, being a medical specialist there is not much home remedy for this condition unfortunately
ive been getting this since i was 16, at work specifically, only lasts about a few minutes tho

how successful is needle release in treating this condition? Is surgery still required? Please see the following video ruclips.net/video/16ZwSi-pYKY/видео.html
Would this be a permanent solution or does the scar tissue build back up after some time ?
please see this link ruclips.net/video/16ZwSi-pYKY/видео.html for the risk of recurrence
What if your hands are worse than all these videos and causing immense pain, but, US and no money? Hennessey and a hammer?
Immigration to somewhere with robust public health system
Sound like all treatment is not guaranteed 100; per cent...I have it in both hands...I did research and the majority agrees it goes back in the same position after the operation and treatment.
Definitively not 100% particularly if the contracture is severe with finger stuck down in a very bent position for a long time. Earlier treatment before bad contracture develops is the key. I will say most treatment will make it better for years with a risk of recurrence in some cases
Please see another video of the same channel ‘do you NEED surgery for dupuytren contracture”.

Could I please ask ? When I had my NVC rather than feel pain it felt really good , it actually relieved the pain , why was this ? Thank you
Can I ask what procedure you had? NVC?
@@healthyhand hi I had a nerve study test a few days ago . The tip of my ring finger was severed down to the base of my nail , chipped bone . Unfortunately I was undiagnosed for 8 months . In the meantime my hand contracted . I now have a bent finger , bone loss density , crps , arthritis & possible dupytrens. From the tip of injured finger up to my shoulder , feels like a wooden peg pushed in . I can feel the tendons contracting like a guitar string tightening in my palm the Intrinsic muscles swollen , painful . A1 pulley injury apparently. While the Dr was testing , it felt like pain relief Thank you
Thanks Polly for this additional information. Nerve conduction study gives electrical stimulation to the nerve and measure its conduction speed. This can provide some relief particularly for complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS). With that being the case I think it's worthwhile for you to try seeing a hand therapist for nerve de-sensitisation and texture stimulation stimulation, as well as some neuromodulator medications. Most likely cause of your bent fingers would be from joint stiffness/lack of movement as the result of CRPS, a condition happens often with finger trauma and will eventually improve with the right treatment and heaps of patience. Surgery in this setting will often make things worse. Good luck!
Useful information
Glad you think so!

I had Dupuytren's contracture - I had to end up having surgery for it. I made this video. Let me know what you think. ruclips.net/video/39BIBY7yYwc/видео.html
@plasmarich Check out this video about the post surgical recovery after Dupuytren surgery of my own patients ruclips.net/video/16ZwSi-pYKY/видео.html Post surgical scar management is important as well as ongoing hand therapy on finger movement There is also increasing clinical evidence that needle aponeurotomy provides slightly better outcome than Xiaflex enzyme injection, with significant lower cost! I enjoyed your video and hope your hand continued to improve well!

Vitamin B6. Mass amount for 2 days and then daily. Try before you get surgery. It doesn't have to be expensive B6 ether. Cheap bottle every 2 hours for 2 days then daily. So mass amount meaning 2 every 2 hours. There water soluble and will not hurt you. You got nothing to loose so try it . Cheap bottle about 6 to 7 dollars.
Thanks Harvey I agree Vitamin Supplement has minimal harm to the system therefore worth a try before surgery. There is also some scientific evidence with high dose Vitamin C that generally helps with nerve irritation from injury or surgery. Another water soluble Vitamin with minimal negative effect
@@healthyhand my wife woke me up at 2am because I was crying in my sleep. I asked her why did you pour water all over me because I had to be up in 3 hours. As soon as I asked her question the pain hit . I would wake up 9 to 12 times before 5 in the morning because of my hands hurting. I accidentally found out about B6 . So instead of 10 times a before 5am it was just 2 times . To finally get some sleep. I am 65 now and still work. And I had to start bombarding my body again with B6 on 6/1/23 . 50 milligram about 12 a day spread out . Tomorrow I back off to just 2 a day . The middle finger and the one next to it next to the pinky start tingling. That's when I knew I was having a problem again. That was 7 days ago. They told me surgery wasn't 100 percent. At the most severest my hands swelled twice the size of normal. Both of them . B6 works for . Just saying.
Sorry to hear that Harvey sounds pretty tough what you are going through. It is true that surgery is not 100%, but it can reduce the night time pain significantly. I am an orthopaedic surgeon and has seen benefit from surgery. Other things that may help include night time wrist splint or consider a steroid injection if surgery is not your preference.
Very useful information for shoulder
Thanks for liking
I had 2 trigger fingers and 2 surgeries many years ago. So far so good. I don't remember a lot of pain with it though.
Good to hear the surgery went well. Yes triggering can sometimes be painless although most patients reports discomfort from ongoing catching and subsequent inflammation around the tendon. The pain is the worse when it’s locked and had to be forced straight
