How to find & disconnect a Bosch 800 series oven igniter (Sept 2023)
The bake oven igniter I put into my Bosch 800 series oven finally died after 3 years. This seems to be the #1 reason why ovens stop heating to the temperature and/or not firing up at all. But it is not the only reason, of course. This video shows how I accessed & disconnected the bad igniter, checked to see if this was the cause for why my oven wasn't heating up so I could install a new one. And WITHOUT splicing cables.
NOTE: I am NOT a licensed repair person or technician! I simply provide this video for those willing and interested in learning how it can be done for themselves. Choosing to make your own oven repairs by mimicking my process and any results that follow therein is your sole...

Installing a new igniter in a Bosch 800 series oven
Просмотров 7 тыс.4 года назад
UPDATE: The igniter I installed in this video from 2020 needed to be replaced in 2023. Check out my new video to see how I located and disconnected the bad igniter in 2023: ruclips.net/video/79gqI-Q3DLs/видео.html Sept. 2020: In this video, I'm putting things back together AFTER installing a new generic brand oven igniter into a Bosch 800 series oven. (It was during Covid pandemic lockdown era,...

Unbelievable. No other video shows the proper technique. I wasted so much time before finding your video trying to access the connection point. You’re a saint!

Great video! We watched the other videos and my reaction was no way I was going to cut the wire harness and splice it back together inside the hot part of the oven since that’s not the way it came. This is the correct way to do it, especially if you get the Bosch part.

1st igniter lasted 4 years. 2nd one burned out after 3 years. Not happy with longevity of these things. Used OEM.

I'm wondering if anyone had a similar problem with this range, it will lose power if its moved, bumped into or opening and closing the door. Thanks for any responses.

Thank you so much for making these videos. I finally ordered the Bosch igniter and stopped at removing the back panel. Saw your video, bought a T20 and less than 30 minutes later, viola! Back in business. Thanks for leading the way on this fix for this range!

GREAT VIDEO!! Very complete with how to connect the 'connection end'! I was thinking of trying to avoid pulling the stove out, BUT, your video convinced me that i should!😘... and the link you provided for the part was exactly the part I was considering, but wasn't certain until i saw your link! Thank you, and keep up the good work. Next time, (even though you don't want to video a possible 'fail'), start your video at the beginning, before you've taken apart would add to your 'street creds'☺

Hi Andrew -- Believe it or not, I JUST finished replacing that igniter with BOSCH brand one. It seems the generic one failed on me after 3 years (almost exactly to the date). SOOOOOOO, I was about to delete this very long and backwards video and put up a new condensed version later today. I highly recommend you get a T20 screw bit -- this time around everything went much quicker. I even got a multimeter and checked the voltage on the control panel and continuity on the igniters to confirm it wasnt a power issue. But when one igniter fails (bake or broil) both fail. To test which one had failed, the multimeter came in handy. Glad this one old vid helped you though.

Thank you for this information. Bought the cheap $26 igniter, cut the wires and put it in. Lasted a month and the igniter stopped working. Bought the Bosch igniter for $110 and was going to attach the same way. But I found your post and put it in the real way and plugged it into slot in back just like you showed. It was not very hard and your post is the only one to show how to do it the complete right way like the original part. Thank you. It is working great now. Hope it lasts 5 years like the original igniter!!!

Hi I'm glad my video helped! The $40 igniter I installed in 2020 lasted 3 years and I just installed a Bosch igniter replacement and made another video to compliment this one. Yes -- fingers crossed that our new Bosh brand igniter last at least 5 years!

this video was priceless. other videos came up at first that showed stripping the wired and shortcutting getting into the back. I knew that couldn't be the 'right' way and found your video, which saved a ton of time figuring out what to remove to get to the right connection area. thanks!

Completely agree with this comment. The initial video I viewed showed spliced wires being connected together. This video however properly showed that the stove needs to pulled, back removed so that the leads can be correctly connected. Great great video and thank you!

Loved that you actually showed the back. Most replacements don’t have the clip, just bare wires and caps, but the original wires are short and are hard to splice together. PS, my replacement igniter failed after a year. Replacement #2 in progress

I didn't feel comfortable splicing either. This $40 igniter lasted me 3 years. I just replaced it with a Bosh brand igniter and made another video showing the steps I didn't show here. Good luck with the new replacement !

I will more than happy to pay a technician for $300 at least I have somebody to blame if my house burned down. 😅. More often people who try to save money they will spend a lot more . Don’t burn your self, you are planning with GAS and FIRE.

I found it on Amazon. Gas Range Oven Igniter for Bosch 00755058 9000820965 755058 www.amazon.com/dp/B085J14HKB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_uKx7FbAA4SCDB?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 But I think Bosch likely sells their own part too, for more $. I opted for the one I found on Amazon, and (fingers crossed) oven still works and house hasn’t burned down.
