I used Cura exclusively up until 5.8.1. I know it well and I am perfectly comfortable with it. None of my printers were klipper. I tried prusaslicer and orcaslicer but found them very cumbersome and the logic used in the layout and naming conventions made it a very unpleasant learning experience. So I went back to Cura. My prints were always good but rarely great. So just to be able to honestly say "I gave it a solid try" I went back to orcasllicer and really worked to understand it. And the print quality was astoundingly better. I even used the exact same stls and copied the settings from Cura into Orca and Orca was ALWAYS better quality. And this was on 100% Marlin printers. Certain functions were more convoluted to achieve while others were simpler. Then I upgrade one of my printers to klipper and the difference was night and day. Exact same stls and print settings and klipper/orca is ALWAYS better. The single most important setting that I modified in Orca that, as far as I know, can't be modified in Cura is volumetric flow. Sure, I can change the flow rate but that's not the same thing. This one setting has made significant speed improvements and I'm baffled that it isn't in Cura...or at least blatantly obvious. Cura is a great program and what I would recommend for any beginner but once one gets to that intermediate stage of printing I find it is limited. They really fell behind on development and now they are playing catch-up. That being said I do still use Cura exclusively for one printer that I have modded and tweaked specifically to print PET bottle filament. I have it perfectly setup and tuned in Cura and it's just too much of a PITA for me to setup as a custom printer in Orca. Now...if I could simply export my printer profile from Cura and just import into Orca I'd go that route. I am curious to see what 5.9 will hold but frankly I am not expecting anything dramatic and certainly not enough to make it worth the time to go back and see. They will really need to WOW me with new functions and functionality.

I don't understand the way you present marlin pros. I mean dude you can do multiple extruders on klipper aswell, it has a huge community aswell (and vorons and ratrigs community just ads more to it). And y'all still target the fact that klipper is hard to install and such but as a person that made a custom 3d printer with almost 0 knowledge in this field i can say it was pretty easy to do it. You just take the rpi imager and flash klipper on the sd card and you're almost done. You just need to make the firmware file for your mainboard (this is sometimes hard to do it but if you follow the klipper documentation and READ it's straightforward). Now don't get me wrong marlin is amazing for printers that don't need much quality or speed and just need to print something. And cnc machines! I use a old skr 2 board of mine to run laser marlin for my corexy laser cutter and it's amazing.

Hi, I have a Creality ender3 s1 pro printer, I don't have any problems with small prints, but when I want to print large prints, it says communication with the MCU is lost at different times and the printing process stops, when I want to continue from where it left off, it starts from the wrong position. Why does this machine give an error with large prints, I searched the internet and couldn't find much information that would be useful for me. I talked to a service and they told me that this could be due to overheating of the sonic pad, stepper or motherboard. I don't know what to do. Do you think cooling the steppers could be a solution, if you have published a video about this, I couldn't find it unfortunately. I would be very happy if you could give me advice. Unfortunately, I don't have enough technical knowledge on these issues. 😞

If you have a 7 year old printer is now worth 100 dollars max, it’s not worth of buying a raspberry pi to get clipper running on it, investing all of the time it needs to install , configure and tinker with it until it runs right. Marlin would be the easy shortcut to improve the result without much extra time spent. Clipper might speed up thing but the extra speed will also introduce extra problems in many cases , especially with cheaper hardware.

Thanks for the video, been out of this side of 3D for a few years and it seems.... sure didn't slow down in my time away. I've got a HyperCube Evolution I build and moded a bit from the base project, it's ok or good, but never been FAST, so I tend to use only a small portion of the build area as filling it would be a multi-day print. So, I find myself looking to improve that and start using it again. I'm still using the ramps1.4 stack with Marlin (1.9 i think). Any recomendations on new boards, screens (touch if possible), drives? Hesitant with Klipper simply because I know my limits programming, if a base file for my printer is avalible, could probably stumble throught changing some parameters (size, setsp per mm...ect)
