I have one and love it. In the first night I did better deep-sky than ever before on my 8 inch Celestron. No more endless aligning in the cold. Getting another star and another and another... and still having star trails. Worth every penny.

Hi do you know why i can not connect my AM5 with stellarium 24.3. If i try to connect my mount wia the settings, ASCOM is grey and i can not click it, just the other options! i have installed ASCOM 7.0.2 and the ZWO ASCOM driver 6.5.27.

I think this video might be out of date. I have been using various processing programs over the years including the ancient old "free" Photoshop CS2, ImagesPlus6.5 and AffinityPhoto (both v1 and v2). Was looking to get started with PixInsight which I know absolutely ZERO about. I do know it is a totally different concept than other programs. How do I get those icons on the right side of your screen? I tried to go to dark archon and it is totally dead, nothing. Not quite sure I would call this a "complete" guide...seems more like how to use the EZ processing suite which no longer exists. I'll keep trying other tutorials.

If you look at the specs it’s a 12bit camera which limits its gray-scale range and therefore its imaging resolution or full well capacity. The blue channel response is very poor at only 65%. The red channel response is much better. It does use a back-illuminated sensor which is good. IMO the ASI533MC Pro is a much better camera. Entry astrophotography users should get the ASI533MC Pro and not the 585 camera.

WILLIAM OPTICS is a great scope I have one my self, but Esprit is far better scope, I would say that Esprit is closest you can get to Takahashi scope!!!!

I have just tested the tutorial on my own data and your steps finally give me the result that I have been looking for to get the dust clouds to properly show up around NGC7023. I will have to take another night of images but playing with the current data already shows an amazing result to me. Thank you so much for showing such easy but mindblowingly effective processing steps to get more out of the dust that we caputre! Keep on rocking Chad!

FYI if you want to use the new 1x GT field flattener with a GT81 you need an ext tube in order to reach focus, and you have to remove a smalll spacer from the back of the flattener

Thanks for this demo! The darkening rings that came with mine (bought in Europe Oct 2024) don't have the holes in the right place for my 2600MC DUO. They are probably wrong for all 2600 models 🙄. Two were good - across a diagonal. I had to mark them and take a paper hole punch to the ring so I could fit all 4 screws. This left me with lingering doubts that I was doing something wrong. Especially since there isnt any single definitive description, the DUO's M54 aperture puts the cam in the 'full-frame' category for connecting an EFW, and the new rear adjustment tilt plate doesn't get a mention on the ZWO site. Mine looks good now, but there's been a lot of guesswork... I'm just waiting for clear sky now to find out what works. One good thing is that the new M54 filter drawer and the EFW are both 20mm. If you're doing an upgrade, you can reuse the same backfocus solution.

Which star was this, does it matter if the filter is in place, ie: say the Lpro.

Touptek's version with it's HDR (Clear) mode and 16bit of this camera, with option to turn off all the LEDs in NINA makes this camera one of the best cooled astro camera on the market. I have a used HEQ and a small 80mm SD Apo. Some tech around like autofocus, pegasus box, NINA. The HEQ is a bid meh, guiding isn't well. The Apo is not bad, but not what i want. I started with this 3 years ago, but as I'm in Germany, the weather is so shit, 2 Winters with NO chance. So I'm sitting here, have some money to invest. I would like to for a SW Strain wave with a TS/Sharpstar 100Q or a TS ONTC. But i remember why I didn't much on astrophotos last 2 years. All what that costs is lower than Celestron Origin. But, but, if i have one day in November, to setup a "classic rig, I'm a bit on the side "makes no sence". The Origin I can put out in the garden, and I can see something at last. I'm with you with the cam size of the origin, and you are right all habe to work, e.g. focussing is a critical thing, On a classic rig you can do something if it fails, on Origin, no. I would wait how reliable this thing is, and if camera options will come. Basically i like the concept. But I would gp for Seastar, to see if this is something you like. One can see from the Seastar success, the concept works. People are interessted in Space and Deepsky, that is not bad. So they now habe an entry, and thats not bad, and they will not care about the sensor size.

Oh well, my setup worked briefly after I watched your first video. Unfortunately it stopped working shortly after and no matter what I do it will not get to use the GPU again. I have also tried the new CUDA 12.6.2 and cudnn for CUDA12. I wish Pixinsight would use the GPU if there is one on the system.

I have a new Origin and am quite disappointed. As I am disabled, when I get a chance to use it time is of the essence and things are not at all conducive for that. 1 Cannot configure many things in the app with the Origin unconnected, when I try to configure it inside with it connected to get ready it for the night it requires an initialization... 2. I tried a nebula filter, the app constantially told me it failed and the dust cover was on, it was not. This is not plug and play, sadly. $4k down the shitter.

I’ve had mine for a little over a week and still working out the guide settings. My guiding has been erratic and kinda crappy. Periodic error has been pretty severe so far. I shoot 5 minute exposures and every other image is slightly worse, which I think is from the PE. My chart gave a number of 19+ and I was not thrilled with that.

Agean astro has 16 original am5 for 500 dollars off.

Excellent review but you miss the mark on who the target market is. While it's an expensive purchase, I don't have the time for a piece-by-piece build of a better scope kit, nor do I have the time to devote to the software side and all the image processing. It's for people like me, who really, really want to capture their own DSO images but need a set-and-forget device. Now, is it better (a full 8x better?) than the small devices that are ~$500? That's arguable and an issue I'm still struggling with.

Great video thank you very much 😃 this might sound like a stupid question but i am guessing this would replace your dust cover so would enable you to take darks and bias frames also. I did hear you mention dark flats but i have no idea about those at the moment...lol 🤣

That was really quite nice. Wondering if you could apply a mask before adding Orton to protect the areas you don’t want effect applied? Wouldn’t have to un-paint if so. I saw Bill’s comment, definitely want to check out his script. Cheers! Doug
