Among the varieties of red wine commonly found in Australia, Pinot Noir must be the most divisive, and we sort of understand why! The Pinot Noir grape can evolve into a dizzying array of different directions and final taste outcomes. At its best, Pinot Noir cannot be beaten for the intricacy and glory of its rustic flavours, but at worst, it can taste a bit like mud water. Two Hands now become too commercialised for me...... I'll go for Torbreck instead.... also check out Hentley Farm, Standish, Hobbs, Massena, Spinifex
Interesting point re Two Hands and can't totally disagree, although the quality of their wines remain - unlike some of the Barossa giants. In the end, it is too hard to make a top 5 list with so much talent to choose from! We full-heartedly endorse Torbreck, Standish, and Spinifex. If we did it again, would probably put Artisans of the Baross on that list - really a can't miss in the region....

Thank you for this. Except for Two Hands, I don't generally see these wines in the States. But I will try Two Hands next time I see it.
Unfortunately, Australian wine is poorly represented on American shelves. Last time I was in Los Angeles, we visited 8 wine shops and only found one (K&L Wine Merchants) that had anything good. Having said that, you may spot some Schild around eventually. Izway is a very tiny winery - so sadly, I think it's unlikely you'll spot it in the States. Cheers!
