I like your Honest Conversation and Perspective. I have lived in Florida and I have been to most states in this country. I could Never leave Florida to live in New York. To me, it would be like Trading in a New Car for an Old Car

As a New Yorker (Long Islander - West Islip), my property tax is over 16k. Long Islanders are the ones who jumping down to Florida and trying to get away from the craziness of the political views here. We are tired of paying for the 5 boroughs who are broke. Now we did buy a home in Tampa and sold it for other reasons (personal) last year, but we are looking again, and we are looking at Florida again and South Carolina (I guess I'll be a halfback lol). We love Florida but the cost is the worry now. We are going to wait until 2025 to make a decision. Btw Nashville is nice but expensive and Tennessee as a whole is a poverty state and has high crime.

The traffic is 10x worse than it was in 2019. 10x at least. Florida is a Redneck version of California. Bad weather, no public transit, terrible pay, which makes it bad for business owners cost are high and people can't afford anything on most of the pay in Florida. It's the Joliet Illinois of the United States.

Also me and my wife are looking at the Tampa area again(did own a house in Wesley Chapel but sold it) but now we may not go there. We are back in NY and we together make over 300k but we feel Florida, even though a beautiful state, might be too much of a cost longterm because we are also bringing down two daughters who are in college and would need to find a good job down there to afford the NEW Florida prices. Job market doesn’t equal the pricing down there. They might be better off staying in NY. I’ve talked to a lot of friends up here who are looking to move or retire and Florida was in their list but most of them said now they are looking g into Tennessee or the Carolinas. The demand might soon dry up.

I wonder how many deals are killed by out of staters or locals. Seems to me that the only action all these southern states are getting is people from different states. I’ve talked to real estate agents who are my friends from Georgia, South Carolina, Florida and Tennessee and all tell me the same thing……it’s mostly people from different states that are still buying and they are buying with cash. Don’t care about rates.

Well no offense but every state has more traffic now because a lot of migrants are over here in the United States now. Back in the 90s it wasn't too much traffic because all the migrants were not over here then. I also noticed that there are more accidents then back then because all the foreigners are over here and they drive very differently from Americans but no offense to people who are not Americans I am just speaking facts.

FL is a "TROPICAL REGION"! Heat and humidity are a given/normal!. I"m a native and it has never bothered me. The whole state is being paved over creating the "heat island effect". You think it's hot now, just wait! Don't like the heat, then ACCLIMATE! I do heavy yard work in triple digit weather! State parks, 9 of them, are being developed into golf courses, hotels and ball courts. The destruction of wild life habitats and estuaries is rampant. The reason for the high taxes in Long Island, The Conservative, separate the local public system from the New York city public systems. Thats one of the reasons people moved from the ISLAND to Brooklyn or Queens, where the taxes an insurance are a lot cheaper even compared to some places in Florida.

Why does the value of the house correlate to the amount of the tax bill? Realistically the higher the tax bill. the less desirable the property is. Therefore less valuable.

Florida is a big state. Most people don't think of Gainesville and Tallahassee when moving to FL. Tallahassee is a pretty good place to live.
