Join me in my journey as I learn how to create a cut flower garden! I am a total beginner and here is where I will share my wins and fails in hopes that I inspire others to start a cut flower garden as well.

Don’t harvest the way I did! Garden updates!
Just a few updates on how the cut flower garden is going.
The sunflowers are doing amazing despite the bugs having their way with them. I’m experimenting with how to get them to last longer in a vase.
Now that I know one of the things I was doing wrong with harvesting I’m starting to see more growth on the zinnias.
I’m truly loving the snapdragons and hope that I will have better success next year with planting them from seed.
Cosmos are my new favorite for sure! The flowers are sweet and the foliage is amazingly perfect as greenery and arrangements.

In this video I am sharing my issues with pests! My biggest issue right now is the June Beatles. They came in hard on my zinnias and have moved to my sunflower plants. And an effort to be as simple as possible in treating for them. We are simply using the soapy, water bucket method. It is July 4 and it’s going to be a hot one today. Just a few updates on how the gardens are doing. The cut the flower variety snaps are doing great! I’m truly hoping next year I will be able to successfully grow snapdragons from seed. Are we protecting our flowers from bees now?
@@dyingmaisy the bees have no shortage of flowers in my garden including a full row of sunflowers to enjoy. I am growing these flowers for the purpose being used in cut flower arrangements. Many insects like Japanese and June beetles will eat the flower buds making them less pleasing as a cut flower. So to protect the flower for cut flowers the bag just protects it from pests that will do damage. Make sense?

Great job installing the drip irrigation around your beds. We live in Ireland and have a small front garden with four flowerbeds, fifty two pots of perennials and six pots of annuals on the windowsills. We water the pots and the flowerbeds with watering cans. We have had a rainy summer so far and we water the pots twice a week and the flowerbeds once a week.
How wonderful! I lived in Galway for a few months. I absolutely love it over there. I would imagine your flowers get plenty of rain ;-)
@@henhouseblossoms We live in the east of Ireland and would not get as much rain as Galway would, but we get enough to keep the flowers going.
Couldn’t get my snaps seeds to start indoors even with lights! I had a few sprout but then they shortly died off so I ordered a plug tray from farmer baileys flash sale on Friday’s. Threw a packet of seeds into a pot in the meantime and left them alone and sure enough they’re doing just fine! I forgot where you’re located. I’m in Cincinnati , Ohio if you’re ever in the neighborhood and want some!
