Pittsfield did not have a true vision for the future when I lived there. I think of that scam artist who launched the Boston-style apartments, the Maplewood Condominiums, and the New Amsterdam project...That total witch who owned Spice Restaurant and equally awfulBurger...that godawful British grocery store ...The emperor's new clothes

I lived in Lenox and Pittsfield for 10 years. GREAT people but limited public transportation and socialization. I worked in health care so I really saw the dark side of living there. The entitled second home crowd definitely made life hard for everyone else...It's nearly impossible to find reasonably priced hotel and motel rooms during the entire summer.

As someone that lives here I'll give you the only 4 reasons you need. 1). Elizabeth Warren 2)Maura Healey 3)Taxes 4)The state is infected by the mind virus that is manufactured in its many universities.

It’s not worth living here. There’s nothing here.

I grew up in Western MA 413, the major towns to me of the Berkshires, from North to south. North Adams, Pittsfield, Lennox, Stockbridge, Great Barrington.. all cool towns with character compared to anything mid to Eastern MA. Moving here is not for everyone.

One other thing you could have covered is access to high quality or specialized medical care. Likely you will need to go to Boston or New York City to seek very high quality and specialized medical care.

I forgot the fun connecting with the world when I was on a short vacation just over the state line, a six-mile drive to join locals in the library parking lot to guarantee access. At least grocery shopping was across the street.

What is the most affordable place to live in the Berkshires for a young couple?

Litchfield, Connecticut, which is nearby has exactly the same issues but then again, there’s something very special about these places

I grew up in Lenox and I always thought about retiring to the Berkshires but my wife and I travel a lot in retirement and not having access to a major airport was a big factor in deciding against the Berkshires. As to harsh winters, since I’m much older than you I can tell you that the winters are very much milder now than 50 years ago. To me the biggest downside now is that there’s a lot less snow which means the skiing is worse and less cold so it’s harder to make snow.

Born and bred in Western Massachusetts. I have spent much time in this beautiful area. Great hiking! If Massachusetts wasn't so woke, I'd move back.

You have a nice presentation style, however, it would be great if you could include some pictures, videos of the things you are talking about.

If you encourage more people to move there though, then youre gonna lose what built the community. These new people coming here, not all of them are gonna be invested. Theyll just leave when they get sick of it after they make their money.

I think you can catch an amtrack from nyc in Pittsfield? There are also numerous swimming holes on rivers in the Berkshires that offer public access

I live in the pioneer Valley so know the Berkshires well. In regard to number 11, the weather, I would say even in the summer you can experience periods of rather cool rainy weather.

We built a ski house in South Egremont in 1968 and skiied every weeked at Butternut Basin. Back then, there wasn't a hell of a lot to do at night. there was one bar full of old men, if you weren't in a league, you couldn't go bowling. If you already saw the movie at the Mahaiwe, you didn't go. The multiplex didn't exist back then. 20 Railroad street opened in the late 70s- they had excellent burgers.

Whoever remodeled it RUINED the interior. Such a beautiful property why would anyone make it all white on the interior.
