Its because people are feeding it.. What happens for someone that encounters these wolves thats not familiar with the routine of giving them food? Thats how you get a wolf attack, and of course its caused by humans. They should be out chasing deer, and they would if someone there had not started feeding them.

This video is old yet most people don't actually know is that these species of wolf have less fear of humans than a grey wolf that's why they go up to humans since the Arctic wolf barely has to deal with any sort of human wildlife conflict as much as other wolf types

I am genuinely convinced that animals all over the world think humans who hunt -- humans with guns -- are a different species than the rest of us. And not only that, they're learning to associate the rest of us -- the OTHER species of human -- with safety; that human habitats and humans without guns mean the area is (comparatively) free of any of their usual threats, ergo they are actively seeking out humanity, not necessarily for companionship, but just for the ease and comfort that being around people gives them. Kind of like how zebras and gazelle hang around with giraffes because they've figured out the giraffes' much higher vantage point will mean they see stalking lions that much sooner, ergo if the giraffe suddenly starts running, they should start running too. Also how dolphins have learned to recognize the difference between transient orcas, which hunt dolphins, and resident orcas, which do not, and deliberately seek out the companionship of the latter in order to be protected from the former. Humanity = safety. 1:03 Human: "I've got nothing to eat!" Wolf: ("Yeah, but you've got nothing that would try to eat us around here either.")

When dogs and wolves sniff your genitals, it means they like you and want to get to know you. Your genital region releases several chemical smells that only animals can detect and obviously this wolf wanted to befriend the cameraman.

Honestly I do agree that you should typically let nature take an animal’s course. However, I would provide an animal with some food only if I could tell that it was starving, if you understand what I mean. I recently went on a trip to Mexico and there was an abandoned baby sea lion who stayed at the same rock for days without no mother and you could clearly tell that it was either abandoned or something happened with the mother. The guide told us that we would allow nature to take its course which I understand but it developed sores on its tummy so we decided to allow the wildlife vets to take action. If you see a wild animal that looks unhealthy, please just call a wildlife vet/caretaker because they will help the animal. God bless these people for helping these wolves but I’m just saying that some animals shouldn’t get used to getting fed by humans directly. If they look like they need it then maybe once, but contact wildlife services. ❤

Aren't those the wolves round the weather station on Elsmere Island? They have always been tolerant and friendly to people as they hardly experienced any negative encounters (like hunting) with them in the past (as the place is remote) They have been favourite study objects for behaviour-scientists (under wich Dave Mech).
