Power of Music In Music Therapy for 102 yrs old lady.
I've been working for this lady as a pianist at her home with live piano music session, who's been suffering of Alzheimer's.
I've been trying with many different genres of music, Classical to Broadway musical, Pop songs from 60's - 90's to religious pieces and she recognizes variety of songs and sings along and sometimes remembers the lyrics and sang. Sometimes, even if she doesn't recognize the song she will listen to the melodically lines of music and sing along as I improvise.
Music has such an amazing power to bring memories and it connects to the people and soul.
I am so blessed to feel this magical music power with her every time.
Music makes everyone happy indeed.........and when y...

    This song is one of the greatest in the history of recorded music. The version we all know is THE FIRST TIME they ever played The Wreck of The Edmund Fitzgerald. However, the Gordon Lightfoot shown here is a desiccated shell of his former self. This is what smoking does to genius talent. He smoked cigarettes to the very end.

    It's sad that the people making critical comments here don't get the fact that the audience at this concert came knowing just what to expect: a legend in his eighties who still had the energy to perform a full set on stage, who loved performing, who loved the music, who loved them. They loved him back. And that's why the rest of us are here watching this now.

      I came to find Gordon as a young man, and I bought a lot of his music before I was out of school, and I replaced it as it wore out down through the years. As a musician myself, I cannot say I know of any music artist who so prolificly wrote so much complex material, cut so many albums, toured so constanly, playing each song as if it were the album for us, and who poured as much of his heart into all of it as Gord did and has. He cared about the people who supported him. He is as much a fallible man and struggled with life's stuations as any of us, but few rise to the consistancy and delivered the excelence that Gord has, and we are lucky to have enjoyed all that he has shared with us. We know he is aged and tired, but that is just a facet of how remarkable a man he was. That's what Gord was made of, and we are sommehow made better because of his story and stories. Godspeed Gordon and thanks for everything!

      @pamelavarilone2614 Год назад

      The song is a memorial tribute to the 29 souls who lost their lives serving aboard the workhorse of the Great Lakes, the Edmund Fitzgerald. It is not entertainment, but a testimony to them so they will never, ever, be forgotten. Every penny Mr. Lightfoot earned from this song was given to the families of the sailors, as was all rights to publication. Now you know.

    • @terry7893
      @terry7893 Год назад

      @@pamelavarilone2614 It's nice that he did that, but I would have preferred a 2 hour TV documentary, and not a song about it. Nobody wants to hear a song about a plane crash where everyone on board gets killed by drowning in the ocean. It's just downright depressing.

    • @sharonm2799
      @sharonm2799 Год назад

      It may be a song about dying in a storm but it's also a song about one man's compassion for the suffering of others. The event may be depressing but the song elevated and immortalized it. I read that Gordon kept in contact with the families of the sailors and would attend memorial events a day early so he could spend time with them. After his death, they said he was like family.

      @@sharonm2799 A movie is fine; it's something that you watch that actually happened. But to make a song and sing about it?? Could you imagine a song about the Titanic. @@sweetcaroline2060 Nice try, but it's not about me. I share your admiration of Gordon Lightfoot and his music. But he's not doing his fans any favors by trying to do something he's not quite able to do anymore. It's like young Elvis vs. fat Elvis. Same guy but he wasn't able to do what he once was able to do. John Mellencamp is in the same boat. His voice is shot but he's still touring. On the flip side, I saw Al Stewart a few weeks ago (he's 77 now) and although he can't quite carry those high notes anymore he still has that same recognizable voice and put on an excellent show.
