Air7 wing trainer center fin box for inflatable SUP board install tips
Excellent idea. I need some to fit the funwater board
Helmet is must have for this dangerous waters !
I have an electric one and it is at 7PSI and feels super inflated. I had a paddle and it seemed like I could maybe go more. But I’m scared of pumping it up too much. It’s really hard already. What do I do 😢
Most boards are capable of 15psi, check your brand website or manual to be sure. But if you're happy with 7psi, then that's fine too , but you will see a big difference in performance if you get it up to the recommended pressure 😃👍
Would you recommend the minicat? I m considering buying one!
i sure would. They don't sail quite as well as a fiberglass cat, but because they're very durable and of course portable and easy to store they are a great choice for many people
After 11 years, what happened to your minicat? would you recommend it? I m considering buying one
The minicat is very durable and there are many benefits to the minicat; easy to repair is one of them. As for other brand inflatables, happycat yachts are better performance, but more expensive and heavier too.
is this fin box compatible with windsurfing US box fin?
Yes, you can see the measurements on the website in the description
shop.air7.net/air7-fin-system.html
I like the butter knife method. Gonna glue a center box on one of my sups to learn winging.
Hi. Very nice video! I am thinking to add a central fin same like you on this video but to use a SUP as a windsup. Can you help me, please how to find the right plase where to stick it. I mean by the lenght. Thank you.🤙
Approximately in the middle of the board is a good place, but you might want to roll up your board and mark the best place considering the fold of your board - every brand is a little different. (Back a little from the center is also ok)
Wave Rebel king of dropknee
He gets well deserved complete respect at pipe, he's also a great surf instructor over on the south shore www.ohanasurfproject.com/
SUPer!🤙🏼
What length of fin do you recommend using with this as a wing trainer?
at least 9 inch (23cm, shop.air7.net/ss-9hfsup-rev.html ), we have also tested with a 12" (30cm, shop.air7.net/sc-12hf-fg-us.html) windsurf fin this is even better
buy it here : shop.air7.net/air7-finbox-pvc.html
its 1-3 knots, Im gonna pull out the super magnum XL wing
Hey man. I need my fin back.
use some heat already
If you use a heat gun, be careful not to damage the layer(s) beneath
This is exactly what I need as a centerboard to turn a windsurf board into a kid's learning windsurfing board!...
I have the V2 model (I think) with the separate back plate. I understand that I'm not supposed to glue the back plate to the box, but should I glue it to the board? Or do I only apply the glue to the soft PVC on the box and leave the back plate "free" in the box?
Yes, you can glue the back plate to the board.
@@air7tv Thanks. Nice product!
I'm not really understanding the instruction to put on a layer of glue, let it dry and then put another layer of glue. Are you saying to put more glue on top of the glue that has dried? If so, I'm not seeing how that would work. Could you elaborate? Thanks
We're following the directions of the average PVC adhesive glue supplied by inflatable SUP manufacturers, if you have some other glue you should follow the directions of that. Basically it is the way to get the best adhesion.
NOTE: if you are removing an old fin box from a single layer inflatable SUP : check for air leaks after removing the previous fin box, and patch any holes in that area before applying the new box
Where to buy the fin box?
link in the description, you can buy here airsup.net/
Hi, at 15psi the board still feels kinda wobbly and makes it hard to balance. I did inflated to almost 20psi the first time by mistake, just at (home trying it out) it felted amazing, super hard just like a real prattle board, it seemed way more steady. Do you think that it will really damage my board on doing this? Other wise, bummer! You pay less but also get less :/
usually it's best to follow the manufacturers recommendations :) also most brands don't recommend leaving your fully inflated board in direct sunlight when not in the water, especially in the middle of the summer, so let out a few psi if you're going to do that.
When does the pressure gauge start showing the PSI? My SUP looks fully inflated and still easy to pump though....but the gauge is still not registering any PSI pressure. Thanks
depends on the brand, but usually after a few psi it should start moving. if it's pretty hard and not moving, then the gauge may need to be replaced.
I thought it may be the gauge. Thanks.
Where can I find the AirSUP brand in Japan please?
What board is this?
this was a 2012 9'6 board under our brand "airSUP" it weighs 10.5kg the newer models at the same size now weigh about 8kg but personally i'm now surfing a 8'1 inflatable SUP it's under 6kg airsup.net/os/boards/airsup-8foot-1inch-inflatable-sup.html
Awesome
Gonna try the quarter shaft pumping next time I paddle. I'm a petite lady so I haven't been able to fully inflate my board by myself. Usually go with someone to help out, which limits when I can go paddling with differing schedules. Thanks for the tips!
I'm sure you will find it so much easier. Using this method you could get the board up to 25psi+ with out too much more effort (if the model can take it of course!)
I like the trick of holding your hand there for the first bit when you deflate.
this is handy when you wash off your board, put fresh water into the valve area to clean it, the blast of air will take out any water :)
Awesome video, thanks for that. I'd suggest not ripping the pump out of the valve too fast, as you could easily damage it. Thanks again!
agree, this was a finicky valve we were using in 2012, since then it's much easier :)
hahaha
Man, that video brings back memories.
Seamless production, enhancing music, cool closing, nicely done.
Thank you that 1/4 pump from 12 psi made all the difference, cheers.
Which board is this?
Michael Freifeld this is the airSUP brand 96XV (2013 model)
can 6'ft men over 200 lbs what size of Inflatable should we get?
in this video Larry is 220lbs, our newest model is 10' x 32" x 6" it would be good for you too: www.air-sup.com
Nice one, L! Love how you trained to reach 250 lbs! Hahah
nice!

What song is this
cool!
Nice vid :)
thanks for the reply. I love my inflatable but despite the great videos that are on RUclips and other sites , I'm having trouble convincing people they are the way to go. Gail at Goodtimes at the Gabba is a local legend, but she is pretty 'suss' about inflatables. Goodtimes at the Gabba is the leading Brisbane surf shop by a long ways. If we could convince Gail that inflatable SUP's are equal to hard boards (I believe they are better) then iSUP's would have a better profile in QLD.
@mickyc54 yes, Most countries are far behind the Americans in the SUP revolution. airSUP brand was previously "saruSURF" both brands are owned by ST Global Inc (our Japanese company, some videos youtuber "sarusurf"). Our "saruSURF" board was one of the first with a real removable fin system back in 2010, we changed to airSUP brand in 2011 because we think it's a better name for our boards. saruSURF is now used for fins and leash cords etc (we use it for items for both SUP and surfing)
I have thought the same thing about a shark biting into my inflatable and I hope it's true. I believe airSUP is actually Saru- a Japanese company. I'm surprised at how far behind the Aussie surf companies are in getting behind the SUP megatrend. It seems we are about five years behind the Americans.
@mickyc54 airSUP is owned by an Australian and an American, so we are sometimes in Australia for testing and sales tours. I figured if a shark was big enough to bite through the airSUP it would explode and hopefully scare it away - giving me time to get to the shore :)
Is airSUP an Aussie company? Are you SUP'ing in a Gold Coast canal? (bull sharks). I have two iSUP's - an Island inflatable which I really like and a much more expensive Surtech model that I have been disappointed with so far. But it's early days. For portability and safety, inflatables are the way to go.
