Great question. For the level Halo at the start, we kill them to skip about 15 seconds of dialogue spread between the first 3 ships. 5 of the 6 need to be dead to skip dialogue. For the rest of Halo, when the marines die in an area, it is considered completed, and u can just leave. We do that for the 2 slower areas, then clear the 3rd. For the start of Truth and Reconciliation, we kill the 5 at the start to guarantee reinforcements before the lift fight starts. Not getting reinforcements will be a 45 seconds wait. The trigger check for reinforcements is either not being in combat or all marines dead. Since we skip the camo, we gotta kill the marines. For the end of Truth and Reconciliation, we get aggro with the marines to skip dialogue at the end. The nade jump in the hanger skips triggers that close the hanger door, causing all the requirements for the level to end when standing next to Keyes.

@@Alxe_OST No problem, I also forgot to mention that the 15 seconds of dialogue timesave also opens up the window to skip the 4th ship in the first area of Halo. With being so fast and skipping dialogue, if u manage to spawn in the 3rd ship fast enough and then clear it with at least 2 or less enemies alive. You'll spawn the 4th ship in before the 2nd ship gets deleted. The 4th ship reuses the 2nd ship, and then the deletion script it called for the 2nd ship, deleting the 4th ship and spawning the 5th ship.

@@timbuckthe2nd642 We've had it and the original under the same category since 2011. The differences at the time were small, but they have grown a tad bit over the years. Gameplay wise, they are largely the same, due to them both being at 30 tick, unlike H2A which is 60 tick. At the time of the decision to have the categories be the same, the differences trick wise were pretty similar. But that has changed in recent years. However, as it stands, it doesn't look like they will be split any time soon. We do have a "classic" extra category which encompasses OG Xbox, Gearbox, and MCC no changing graphics. But it's much less popular than the main MCC CE category.

Legendary. Some hunters on TnR and AotCR only spawn if you are playing on Legendary.

Eventually, the problem with this is defining what's a glitch. The oob stuff is obvious. But stuff like the nade stacks and banshee grab aren't yet they skip significant portions of levels. I think a more correct term for the run would be fullpath

@@SlothSG that's correct. I meant exactly that, but didn't know the term. Are there any? As for speedrun, don't get me wrong - it's still very impressive work. Doing LASO right now, which put my nerves on a hot plate. ;)

Haha. Yeah, Cody Miller's run is quite the experience to watch. Basically outed himself as a cheater to the world that day. It's funny going back to look at his old "records", since a lot of the splices in them are pretty noticeable. One of his TnR ones has the radar pulse not be in sync after going into the ship after the cutscene.

We just finished radiation and are now about to start 6 months of chemotherapy + 18 hours a day of wearing this electromagnetic hat. Unfortunately even with treatment average prognosis is still around a year from diagnosis.

Yeah, sorry. Been trying to work on it. Just too stressed about the dad's terminal cancer diagnosis and it's bleeding into my stress from speedrun performance. Trying to do better.

I have all the levels done for John Wick. Just need to get the motivation to make the video. LASO will probably be after that

Without glitches is a hard thing to define. Like, is the nade stack on SC a glitch? It's just utilizing the effect of the overshield giving chief invulnerability for a set amount of time. Or is banshee grab on AotCR a glitch? It's just manipulating the AI to flip itself out of the banshee. I think a better way to name this type of run would be the developer intended route. Which I could probably so around 1:25-1:30ish. If it was just no "glitches" then maybe 1:15-1:20ish

@@Pierce-lz7kv I'm working on getting my Halo 2 leg time down atm and then I'll move on to Halo 3. Going to try to go for a good trilogy time. Got my h2 leg time down to 1:27:41. Almost got a 4 minute PB today.

Needs to strat. First Floor skip on Library could take 30ish seconds off of my low 1:01 sum if best. But need another 40+ seconds somewhere.

@@SlothSG Are there any super high risk plays you can make to shore up the timings? I just watched the segmented CE run on HaloRuns youtube channel and there seems to be a few that would help. You could grind out maybe a couple of them and then add them to your runs. Just a suggestion. Looks pretty frustrating moving forward as the only time saves would be super high risk and run ending. There isn't much time save left to grind out for CE Campaign now it seems.

@@IMFAEmperor unfortunately none that are human viable. The segmented run has an average of a splice every 3 seconds. AotCR bool saves about 15 seconds, but that takes 1000s of attempts to hit once. There is an 8 second time save on 343, but that isn't nearly enough to get to sub 1.

@@SlothSG I guess you'll have to get creative or even have to invent some new strats yourself. Best of luck in the future.

@@IMFAEmperor We have found some things that are promising. But nothing yet applicable. If you walk against a corner at a good angle for 2 minutes, chief will just clip into the wall. Pretty cool conceptually. But it taking 2 minutes currently is a deal breaker. Unfortunately that's the only thing we've really found in the past 3ish years.

@@SlothSG didnt mean any offense. I was just feeling nostalgic, and have never watched a speedrun before. The idea is really cool to me, but constantly hearing the negativity deterred me, greatly. So I found another creator. Again, no offense. Just constructive criticism.

Been going through a lot recently so was trying to get the sub 1:03 over and done with so was feeling a lot of pressure when things weren't going well. Dad was diagnosed with brain cancer recently so was trying to get this while he was still cognitive. So had been getting a bit more frustrated with the constant resets

Yeah, first time viewing of all the tricks that have been found over the years is quite an experience. Might I recommend the Segmented speedrun that the community released back in 2021.
