Just picked up a Korean sdr-28 for $300 from a pawn shop. Im stunned by how good it is for the price. Not just for the price, but in general.

innovative? It was about trying to stamp out more Martins. If you can get a used one sub $200, as a beater, then it will serve that purpos3 well. Nobody reaches for hpl if anything else is in reach.

I have a Sigma DR28ae. Sounds just like the Martins I hear on RUclips. The serial number indicates made in 1998, but it was made in Korea. Does that date it back to 94 or earlier? Any info would be helpful.

I had an Enya guitar. Other than being heavy, it was about like any other acoustic guitar. One good thing about composite guitars is their exceptional environmental stability.

Dude thank you very much for the detailed explanations regarding thr commanchie etc my freind and tech at his music store has been trying to get me onto G@L for awhile and he wont take no for an answer, and i know he knows his stuff, but im real interested now in this model especially, seems to be more tonal posibilities and quality workmsnshio, thanks again for thr info and good riffing!

Just played one of these at a music store here in Thailand. I could not tell the sound difference with a comparable much more expensive Martin yet they both use the same composite and fretboard build. !!

I have the Comanche Fullerton Deluxe...it's one badass guitar. And G&L has incredible customer service. I suppose the fact that I live in Fullerton doesn't hurt but...all I know is they are awesome!

What radius is the fretboard? I like a small radius 7.25" or 9.5", if I had to guess I would say it is 9.5". I am more of a Telecaster guy, I should check out the GL T types. When I first heard of these guitars in the 80's my musical friends in the gigging community called them GL guitars, if you look on the headstock there is no & sign but a clef, I believe the & came about as there are no clefs on a typewriter keyboard.

I've been using my G&L ASAT Classic every day since I bought it in mid-2024. My other guitars (Gibson, Fender, Starfield, Ibanez, Framus) are all really exciting in their own way - but I like the ASAT the best. It's a gem.

I could never get beyond the strings making contact with the intonation springs on C&L guitars. Inadvertent contact of 2 metals is just bad design, no matter how you cut it. It's the only bridge design of its kind that I am aware of, likely for good reason. I've never even picked a C&L up b/c of this glaring design flaw. My feelings being, if they took that obvious shortcut, there are many more to be found under the surface. Not insinuating that Fenders are any better, but I'll just dance with the one that brought me when I notice that my only other option has buck teeth.

Roy Buchanan is the best telecaster player. I have a 2018 butterscotch Fender player telecaster. I was looking at fender professional 2 telecaster BUT I played a G&L FULLERTON ASAT CLASSIC and it's a better built guitar than fender professional 2 telecaster and it's on steroids ‼️ So my next " tele" is a G&L

Nice talk. G&L guitars have some of the best pickups I ever heard. Clear but not brittle. A worthy mention is the neck profiles and also the nut string spacing, all little details but actually make a big difference. I bought a Legacy years ago second hand for 1/3 of the new price, and it kicks ass. It plays effortlessly, sounds great up and down the neck, and honestly, I prefer it over a lot of boutique guitars that are supposed to be perfect. but aren't. The only gripe i have is that the electronics are not wired properly for left handers, either you wire it to the opposite lugs of the pots and they turn backwards (that's what i have gotten used to), or use reverse log pots. Kinda shocking most manufacturers have not figured this out!

Love my Sigma TB-1B. Picked it up for $100 and after I gave it a good setup and the right strings, it's the best acoustic guitar I've ever owned. Even better than my 1971 Ovation Balladeer.
