I somewhat agree that older games do have a leg up over current ones, but even though I do enjoy simple games that have a clear difficulty curve. I do also think there’s a place for traditional modern games, two of my favorite gaming experiences as of late were spider man 2 and replaying sonic adventure 1. I think it mostly comes down to how much free time you have in life. As a kid you want a game that you can pour hours and hours into and/or online games so you can play with your friends, but as you get older, unless your job involves playing video games you generally want simpler shorter games that are more than likely single player, or it’s just as simple as a taste thing.

Great video about peak gaming but while it's not a major difference, part of the reason the controls feel clunky is because the HD port fucked up the analog control Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh also check out Bomb Rush Cyberfunk

I just wish the mechanics lived up to the absolutely UNMATCHED aesthetic and art style/ direction. Compared to something like Tony hawks underground 2, it plays awful, but they really did open eyes to how cell shading could be used, their maps still look nice and play fantastic when modded into bong rush cyberfunk, and don’t even get me started on how fucking good that ost was. Shit was a great game, but it still had some issues

I find your commentary on how the "more you got going on in your life, the less likely you are to play through a complex game with a complex story" insightful. To some degree, this is the truth. I find myself from time to time playing games as old as Nintendo games from the 8-bit era and just enjoying the simple to start and play dumb fun! I feel kind of sad that the days are gone when I could playthrough an entire Witcher game or an entire Arkham Knight game but I get it. Adult life is as complex as it is without more complexity added to games. And, while I love and respect these massive titles with massive worlds and lore, sometimes I just wanna load up a game and play right away without the loading screens, cutscenes, and complex quests with their own stories within the story. Sometimes I just want to play a fun game without too much gobbledygook.

I haven't watched much anime in a very long time because of the pacing issues in a lot of them. And I completely relate to the dialogue skipping, just recently a friend of mine pointed out just how much dialogue I was skipping when I played persona 3 reload earlier this year.
