BANTHA REVIEWS NAPIER SUV TENT
As full-time overlanders, we already have a home with us, but we still like to travel with a tent. The Napier Sportz SUV Tent with Screen Room is a great option for us because it is compact and easy to set up, and it provides a comfortable and private space for guests who want to join us on an adventure. Sometimes, we want to explore places that are easier to get to in the Jeep, having this tent allows us the freedom to explore more knowing we have comfortable shelter available for any situation. We would use this tent for festivals, giving us additional spaces for rest & relaxation.

Lightning Storm in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico
Просмотров 441Год назад
"Is it safe to visit Mexico?" Lots of people asking us if it is safe. We've not had any trouble, just use common sense, & don't be a rude visitor. Speaking of common sense, standing on a cement building rooftop to view a lightning storm is the least safe we've been yet. We are currently living in PDC. Normally, we enjoy the nightlife here, but this evening, we opted to stay in, with the excepti...
M1087 FMTV Shelter Swap instead of New Build Expedition Truck Upgrade
Просмотров 7 тыс.2 года назад
Instead of selling our first build and starting over, we decided to swap shelters instead. Repurposing a military truck made this relatively easy, they are designed for this. (we could even set the shelter on the ground if we ever decide to stop being mobile.) We've been very happy with our shelter and the design, this saves us a year of building and we have a newer truck. It's a bit crazy to s...

Bantha had a travel buddy for a few days and we sure enjoyed the company. Having already planned on going to Bishop Hot Springs and the Salt Flats, meeting up with @3mastango made it twice the fun! This hot springs is now our #1 favorite, it is just the right temp, and incredibly clean. We enjoyed morning, noon and night soaks.

Qual o valor de um veiculo assim?
Don't know what a rivet nut is ?? Nothing I have heard
Nothing like a little 5 wheeling!
Where is this place at?
Hi, which place are you inquiring about?
The place in Texas where you got the vehicle I live in Houston
His & Hers, at 5:14, you found a 'SEE' truck. It is a Unimog based-'Small Emplacement Excavator' (SEE). Designed to build a 'small emplacement' for a crew-served automatic weapons fire position. Those are slow as hell, but very useful.
Thinking about this for a 100 series Land Cruiser. Anything potentially out there that has less ground staking required or that is made more for colder temps?
Wish we could make a recommendation on that for you, sorry, we do not have the answer on that.
Check with @nextjumpoutfitters. www.youtube.com/@nextjumpoutfitters
Update: Mom and Dad said "no thanks" to the guest bedroom idea.
Awesome tent.
Hey just met you guys at the office bar and grill .I'm amazed with the build stay safe with your travels and most of all have fun
Hey there! Was a pleasure meeting you, thanks for the follow!
From what I can see, there are 4 hardmounted attachment points (no compliance/spring mount) and the box also rests on the frame rails?
Hi, yes, you are correct. Thanks for watching!
@nextjumpoutfitters Would be great to see you at the Great Overland Roundup 2023 in Chehalis, WA.
@HelicoolsHelipad We are looking forward to attending the Great Overland RoundUp 2023!!!
Looks like a great spot! Can I ask, is this your typical strategy for national parks? Boondock nearby and commute in/out with the Jeep? I'm looking at building something similar that will be right at 30', but it seems like Death Valley and Yellowstone are a couple of only a few that we'd actually be able to camp in (with our toad as well). Thanks!
Actually, no, we occasionally stay inside National Parks, depends on space availability,. We try to boondock as much as possible. Thanks for watching. At 30' you'll have lots of options. We do find restrictions on "RV"s like ours at private RV parks, they don't allow "RV"s like this, usually a make/model/year restriction.
My dream rig ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Thank you!
Awesome video, thanks
Hey, thanks for the comment. I was wondering if it did any good.
Awesome video, thank you
Awesome video, thanks
Thank you! It isn't our normal "big truck" video, so I was wondering if it would be well received or not. Overlanding has allowed us to spend more time soaking in our surroundings, exploring nature, and enjoying the variety of new locations. Thank you for watching and commenting! Cheers
@@BANTHA-M1087FMTV you’re welcome 😇
That's a great kitchen. Loved the stainless steel industrial look. I'm looking to incorporate that in my build. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you! Would love to see your build, we really favor the industrial look!
Hi there. Are you guys going to the overland expo?
Hi. Not planning on attending any of the large expos this year. If we are in the area, we MAY attend Overland Expo in OR. We will definitely attend the Great Western Overland RoundUp in September. (in WA) Would be wonderful if you visited!

Xcaret?
Close to Xcaret, but from a rooftop of our apartment in PDC. Thanks for the ?. Appreciate you watching. This storm was so awesome and beautiful.
2003, engineering our ExpeditionVehicle, we built with zero cabinets above waist-level to reduce weight aloft. We prefer the visual and visceral sense of openness.
Good idea! We too, highly appreciate visual and visceral sense of openness! Hope to see you off-road sometime!
Our ExpeditionVehicle interior is three paces across by seven paces long. Three RedHeelers plus two adults (and a frequent yummy third!). "But but but LM, how can you live in such a tiny space!" . We do not live in our rig. We live out of it.
YES!!!! Hello OEV Soulmates! (well, minus the pets)
You are doing just fine.
We are sure trying. #LivingOurBestLife
Lovely. Name of vocalist and band?
Thank you! The tune is: Fly Me to the Moon - The Macarons Project
yes i would like to go for a ride
what would be approximate price
Hi. Price for the rig or for the blackout feature? The blackout came with the military-designed command center shelter. We'd love to know what the original price was for that feature.
@@BANTHA-M1087FMTV the presentation u brought forward that day it brought back the Army days my family spent in where my father got transferred too. thanks for bring it into view 🤔✌👍🍀🍀
this is cool 💕👍
Love the project...the music in the videos gets super annoying though...but still..worth watching
Hey, thanks for the constructive criticism, we keep working on improving our rookie video-creating skills. So, no music?
@@BANTHA-M1087FMTV well that's just my opinion...love what your doing though
That's rad! Does the new truck have 4 or 5 leaf springs in the rear? Nice work
Do both shelters expand the same way with the floor folding upright? Or does the old container floor slide straight out? Also were the dimensions of both containers the same size?
Yes, both shelters expand exactly the same way, floors folding upright. Exact same dimensions as well. Thanks for watching!
1M for that kind of truck ..? What a total waste ..
At first glance, we can see why a person would think so, but taking a close look and learning about the design and every detail for comfort, safety and easy use - the price is justified. Visit 27North's channel for more info. Thanks for watching and commenting!
As Jay Leno once said for the “More money than sense crowd”…
oh, don't get me wrong, This build is worth it.
@@BANTHA-M1087FMTV And the instant every back-yard mechanic sees it, they will duplicate it. With bigger tires and sequential turbos and a 2,000,000-Watt stereo, of course...
A million bucks? I’m assuming that it’s bulletproof, waterproof, changes it’s own oil and will give you a …uhhh…will bring you a beer.
Definitely a wise choice to use this facility rather than a boom crane. Much easier to get it properly located with that double gantry set up
Curious if there will be a new paint scheme coming? Will the new owner be publishing on his build? Easiest system up grade. Lol
Yes - there IS a new paint scheme coming for BANTHA, and an updated logo. Yes - the new owner will be publishing their build, we can't wait to see it! Seriously, we just saved ourselves an entire year of building. We are super happy with the decision. 🍻
Where are you even finding these, ive seen only one go up for auction in the past two years.
Yes, they are pretty hard to get your hands on. As far as we know, only 5 in civilian possession so far. Rumors of a 6th one out there somewhere.
you got a link to video or write up to why you decided to swap boxes? Am sure their is logical reasons.. curious what they are.
No, should've added that. Sorry. Will work on that and notify you when we share it.
For now, the short answer is: We thought it would be fun to build another one. This box offers massive space, but with that comes design challenges, the way it folds and unfolds. After living in this one for 3+years we have some ideas and maybe a couple things we'd change. BUT...the supply chain issues we'd face right now just didn't seem like a good idea. We know how much money we sank into the first build, it would be 3X that now. We had purchased the newer rig and this way we feel like we have the best of both worlds and barely any interruptions in our adventures.
@@BANTHA-M1087FMTV mucho gracious for explanation.
That was much faster then I thought it would be. I know you have to put all the under side boxes back on. But it looks like it went smooth.
We were impressed, it could've been done even faster had we known about the need to make a cut. 🍻
Good job.
What is the camper part called .
Hi. The shelter or habitat was a command center. Expandable Van is what the mfg called it. Here is a link for some interesting info: www.aarcorp.com/m1087-expandable-van-shelter/ Thanks for watching!
Who's the Star Wars fan to name the first M1087 Bantha?
We both enjoy Star Wars (and Zack does have a Storm Trooper costume) but neither of us are total starwars geeks. We just thought Bantha fit perfectly, being a big, slow, beast of war.
Those trucks look like the perfect choice for off road RV'ing. I can see why you favor them. But on a unrelated question, is there a reason the military chose that odd color of green for the interior? It makes my eyes hurt, lol! The white interior color you chose to go with would seem to be the logical choice since it helps brighten up things.
We lived with those green walls for several months when we first started overlanding. It was a bit much! I found this about the color: www.ar15.com/forums/general/Why-are-the-interiors-of-US-military-equipment-painted-mint-green-/5-2179350/
I've never seen a floating restroom before. Now something may not think that's a big deal but when you've gone and you've seen everything I got to admit that's the one thing that stands out because it's so out of place kind of. It's odd it's different and that just makes it all the more memorable. It's even more fun if you go back and explore places that you haven't been for a while just to find out they don't exist some places have added new things. I always plan to go exploring and I would have gotten in a bowl with your husband driving but the the guy had him doing a little bit of crazy stuff and I'm not up for that. I may be in retirement but the brain hasn't retired from what we did it's always planned for the worst and hope for the best so I would have to have on my life jacket so would my girl and our foldable canoe. I literally screamed when the boat went and took me to the left and I'm not even on the boat I'm just like there watching through the lens of your camera. It is a shame that the water is disappearing everywhere. Someone asked me if I wanted to go to Vegas with them and then out to lake Mead and see how bad it is I'm like no I don't need to do that. I really enjoyed that that was really pretty. I thought you were going to get stuck and be sucked down under in that mud you had me worried girl. Can't wait for the next video.
One cool feature with the LMTV's is that you can use each truck to supply air to each other if you have all the accessories in the BII (Basic Issue Item) box there are extra air lines. So literally each truck could tow each other if you have the tow bar along with the air lines
What are the dimensions open and closed for the trailer portion of the rig?
The habitat is 8x19 when closed up. Open 14x19 "ish"
Instead of holding my breath as you were coming and making the turn I started to blow on my phone like I was trying to send some wind through the phone through the video back in time to keep it up right. Every now and then I have a quack-a-doodle moment.
Been watching your videos very impressive build...just curious though never realy seen the interior whend the slide outs are in...so I assume the only way in is from the side door and what does the interior look like when its folded in. Also what would you see if you open the rear doors....just curious if you could show a video on that as well as how the mechanism work for the slideouts on the inside and out?
Cool I thought for a moment there you were going to tell me y'all tried to climb up the side of the mountain and do some rock climbing. Glad you didn't impressed on hiking it. I'm unable to do all that. Put a little over half a tank diesel in and around here it's you got to know where to go and I got it for $5.09 a gallon. The next closest price was $5.15 a gallon. It was a real pretty place where you found a park. Be safe and have fun.
