This ONE thing EFFECTS 99% of all BEGINNER golfers!

I feel like everyone wants to quit after a couple of weeks of bad golf.. just let me tell you: I now struggle for a full year and almost everytime I play I tell myself after playing, ok, at least it can't get worse, just to post an even worse round next time. I've played a 73 1.5 years ago, many rounds below 80, and some days ago I shoot a 107 which could have been even worse... So if you think you want to give up just think about it and remember that there is at least one guy struggeling more than you and not giving up (me).

The one thing that changed my game recently was indeed swinging much smoother. Feeling like my full swing was 80 (both in power but also turning less which gave more stability)

Great tip on not focusing on power. I see a lot of new golfers trying to absolutely smash the ball as hard as possible when actually a nice easy swing is best until you feel confident applying the power. Accuracy is key!

For me it's the putting. I've improved my short game dramatically, but when I get to the green, I often 3 putt. My last round, I could have taken about 18 strokes off if I could have 1 putted easier ones.

Yet you barely have any rough over there. You rough is like our fairway plus your courses are pretty much ideal weather conditions whereas 75% of golf in the UK is played in the rain.

10:40 forget GIR, play nett GIR. Ie par 4 PP is 5 so on for 3. Par 3 on for 2. Par is Professional Anticipated Result. For handicap make own expected score on hole. If play by yourself with no competition cards how will your GHIN come down for year.

The irony of golf, is, when you try to close the face down like you are, you are actually coming over the top, and so you will keep on hitting the cut. If that's your thing and it work, great, but just to illustrate how this is impacting your shape, looking at the last hole that you played, you are set op for the draw and still you had the ball cutting. Its severe over the top swing path that does that. squaring the face has nothing to do with swing path, its a wrist function. Most armatures start golf by cutting, and to fix that they aim left causing the over the top swing path making it worse. Going against intuition and swinging to the right will actually promote a draw and even if you struggle to square up the face and leave it open , you will hit it a bit straighter.

Hi mate, just found your channel. I've been playing a similar amount of time to you and trying to reduce my handicap (currently 17.4). This is great advice, I'm working on my swing path at the moment and this video is great tips for anyone to work on. I've been lucky enough to have a few Trackman sessions so if anyone watching this gets a chance I highly recommend it to get some data for swing path and club face. Keep up the good work! (I've played Rushmore a few times it's a great course).

That is actually the greatest tip think 80% I am a 30+ handicap golfer a true double bogey master. I played with my uncle a round on a private course and said I’m just going to slow my swing down & trust in the club doing the work. I shot an 89. The following months later found myself trying to crush every shot and was shooting 104&110? It’s ridiculous that I couldn’t remind myself to just slow the swing down and trust that the club will do the majority of the work. And worse case not as much distance but will likely be more in play. But even as you said the majority of the time you’ll actually strike it better and farther cause your contacting the ball better. Awesome to hear this again. Off to the range 👍🏼
