without this plate the load will act directly on side walls so with the help of this plates we can minimize the overall load acting directly on the side walls..... and if case of moving tank it helps to overcome the free surface effects and give stability.

you did not explain why mantle plumes rise(because of buoyancy), Iceland is exception since it has mantle plume and also at the plate boundary. You did capture some points accurately.
